The meeting of the board of Trustees of Assiut Al-Ahlia University was held on Thursday evening, May 8, at the University's headquarters in the new city of Assiut. Dr. Mohammed Awad Taj al-Din, former minister of Health and Population and chairman of the board of trustees, chaired the session via live broadcast "online."

 

 The meeting was attended by Dr. Wael al-dajawi, former minister of Higher Education, deputy chairman of the board of Trustees, Dr. Mohammed Abdul Samy, former president of Assiut University and Secretary of the board of trustees, Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, governor of Assiut, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the Commissioner for conducting the work of the president of Assiut Al-Ahlia University, Dr. Noubi Mohammed Hassan, vice president of Assiut Al-Ahlia University for Academic Affairs, and members of the board of trustees; to discuss several topics related to the academic and administrative process.

 

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University and Commissioner of Assiut Al-Ahlia University, welcomed the members of the University's Board of trustees, expressing his thanks and appreciation for their continuous efforts in following up the progress of work and their constant coordination, in a way that enhances the March of Assiut Al-Ahlia University and its role in providing distinguished education. He stressed the effective role of the board of trustees in supporting the University, which is a key pillar for achieving its strategic goals, improving the quality of the educational and research process, and strengthening partnerships with the local and regional community.

 

  Dr. Awad Tajuddin praised the achievements of Assiut private university during a short period, stressing that it was able to achieve a distinctive success among its counterparts, providing a realistic model of the goals for which private universities were established in Egypt. He explained that this success came thanks to the great support provided by the political leadership, headed by His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who is the spiritual father and the first supporter of this national project, as he pays great attention to the development of private universities, and directs to provide all the necessary capabilities to ensure that they achieve the standards of smart universities capable of graduating qualified cadres to compete in the labor market locally and internationally.

 

  Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, governor of Assiut, stressed that Assiut private university is one of the national projects that we rely on a lot in making a qualitative leap in the field of higher education in the upper level, especially with the keenness of the state led by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, president of the Republic, to expand the establishment of private universities to provide distinguished and advanced education at affordable prices and linking educational outputs to the labor market, which is evident in the modern equipment of the University and its role as a scientific edifice this is befitting the name of Assiut State University, and its ancient history.

 

  Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi pointed out that the distinguished and successful work system at Assiut Al-Ahlia University is the fruit of effective cooperation between Assiut State University and Al-Ahlia University, explaining that this success reflects the continuous coordination between the two universities, stressing that Assiut State University is keen to harness its scientific capabilities and its distinguished human cadres to support the educational process at Al-Ahlia University, and provide all forms of logistical, scientific and human support, to ensure the continuity of the quality of education and achieve the University's goals.

 

  Dr. Al-manshawi explained that Assiut Al-ahliya University is currently witnessing practical steps to establish an integrated administrative system, aimed at ensuring the efficiency of the workflow within the University. He pointed out that the university is currently working on expanding its study programs, as well as enhancing international cooperation by building partnerships with prestigious international universities.

 

 The Board of Trustees of Assiut University witnessed the holding of a secret ballot to select two members to represent the council in the selection committee of the university president, one as a primary member and the other as a reserve member. The voting resulted in the selection of Dr. Mohammed Abdul Samee as the main member and Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Chalabi as the Reserve member.

 

 During its meeting, the board of Trustees of Assiut Al-Ahlia University reviewed several strategic, academic, financial, and administrative topics regulating the functioning of the University. The meeting included the approval of the numbers proposed for admission to the University's faculties in the next academic year 2025/2026, in addition to determining the proposed tuition fees for the next year. The financial statements and final accounts of the University for the years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 were also approved. The council also approved the allocation of the financial link to equip, furnish and furnish the laboratories of the Faculty of Human Medicine in the building of the central laboratories, in addition to the purchase of equipment and models for skills laboratories in the colleges of the medical sector. It was also approved to announce the contract to fill some jobs to work at Assiut Al-Ahlia University.

Assiut University witnessed a variety of events and activities from April 25 to May 1, 2025, reflecting its commitment to academic excellence and active participation in societal issues. These efforts strengthened its position as a leading educational institution contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

• Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on the occasion of Labor Day, on behalf of himself and the entire university community.

• Dr. El-Menshawy chaired the meeting of the new Board of Directors of Assiut University Club to follow up on development efforts and discuss summer vacation activities, commending the achievements of the new administration.

• He congratulated Dr. Noubi Mohamed Hassan, Vice President of Assiut National University for Academic Affairs, for winning third place in the Prince Naif Arab Security Studies Award 2024.

• Dr. El-Menshawy welcomed Major General Dr. Hesham Abou El-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, to strengthen joint cooperation and support developmental and societal initiatives.

• Both Dr. El-Menshawy and Governor Abou El-Nasr attended the opening of the 35th Annual Conference of the Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare: Benefits and Challenges.”

• Dr. El-Menshawy congratulated Dr. Gamal Badr on the presidential decree appointing him as Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research at Assiut University.

• He chaired the coordination committee meeting to follow up on the new University Cancer Hospital project, urging faster implementation and adherence to the timeline.

• Dr. El-Menshawy also chaired the academic council meeting of Assiut National University and extended congratulations to President El-Sisi on Sinai Liberation Day, emphasizing the political leadership’s role in promoting development and establishing national universities.

• He praised the achievement of students with disabilities at Assiut University for winning 22 medals in athletics during the 52nd Martyr El-Rifai Sports Tournament.

• Dr. El-Menshawy announced that Assiut University’s men’s volleyball team secured third place in the national finals of the 52nd Martyr El-Rifai University Championship.

• Under the supervision of Dr. Gamal Badr, a workshop on “Statistical Analysis Using SPSS” was held as part of the library development services, organized by the General Directorate of Talent Development and the University Libraries Directorate.

• Assiut University launched the “Assiut University News” podcast in English during April 11–17, 2025, to enhance communication with the academic community both locally and internationally.

• Dr. El-Menshawy participated in the Supreme Council of Universities meeting hosted by Hurghada University.

• As part of cultural and educational cooperation between Egypt and Japan, students from the Japanese Center at Assiut University participated in a cultural evening promoting Egyptian-Japanese collaboration.

• The Faculty of Medicine launched its Student Day activities within its 35th Annual Conference titled “Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare: Benefits and Challenges.”

• A training workshop on “Uses and Future of Artificial Intelligence” was organized by the Center for Future Studies in collaboration with the Student Welfare Department for students of the Faculty of Arts.

• Dr. El-Menshawy praised Assiut University students for their excellence in the 11th National Ideal Student Competition held at Fayoum University.

• He also commended the students’ performance in the final session of the 13th season of the Egyptian Cabinet Simulation Model, supervised by Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.

• The Faculty of Fine Arts held an art exhibition titled “Symbolic Representations of the Palestinian Cause in the Theatrical Scenography of ‘Naima’”.

• Assiut University’s Innovation Projects Unit supported student projects and discussed future plans to enhance innovation and creativity, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Mawla.

• The English Language Center at the Faculty of Arts honored Dr. Hassan Abdel-Shafiq, the former director of the center, for his efforts in serving students, with Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Alim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in attendance.

• The Faculty of Specific Education organized an art exhibition titled “African Geometries”, reflecting artistic creativity and cultural identity under the supervision of Dr. Gamal Badr.

• Dr. El-Menshawy and an Assiut University delegation participated in the First Conference of University Hospitals held at Ain Shams University.

• Due to bad weather conditions, Dr. El-Menshawy announced the suspension of classes at Assiut University on Wednesday.

• A workshop titled “How to Write Nomination Applications” was held as part of the third edition of the 2025 Quality and Excellence Award.

• Dr. El-Menshawy declared a state of high alert in Assiut University hospitals in preparation for expected weather fluctuations.

• He confirmed that the University Council, in its 765th session held on April 23, 2025 (extended to April 30, 2025), reaffirmed its previous decision from session 758 (September 23, 2024), stating that final exams for the second semester of the academic year 2024/2025 will end on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

• Assiut University received a delegation from the Ministry of Finance and E-Finance Company to follow up on the development of the financial system and digital transformation in the university and its hospitals.

• The university hosted the 18th Annual Conference of the Upper Egypt Diabetes and Endocrinology Society.

Assiut University organizes an educational seminar on "climate change and its impact on the sustainable environment of living organisms." 

Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the faculties of Science and agriculture organized an educational seminar entitled "Climate changes and their impact on the sustainable environment of living organisms", under the slogan "Our country is a secretariat in our hands", under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Abdul Hamid Abdul Tawab Abdul Hamid Abu Sahli, dean of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Adel Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Dahab, dean of the Faculty of Agriculture.

The seminar was organized under the supervision of Dr. Mohammed Abu Al-Oyoun, undersecretary of the College of Science for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Essam Fadl Mohammed Abu Zeid, undersecretary of the College of Science for community service and environmental development, and Dr. Jalal Abdel Fattah Ibrahim al-Saghir, undersecretary of the College of Agriculture for community service and environmental development, with the participation of several undersecretaries of colleges, heads of departments, faculty members, the auxiliary staff, employees and students at various colleges of the University.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the organization of this seminar comes within the framework of the University's keenness to promote environmental awareness among students and the university community, and to keep pace with global efforts to meet environmental challenges. He pointed out that the University seeks through such seminars to enhance its awareness and scientific role, and highlight the importance of preserving the environment and ensuring its sustainability for a better future for future generations.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim explained that climate change is a global challenge that requires concerted research and institutional efforts to face it, stressing the importance of promoting environmental education among society groups, to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt's Vision 2030.

Dr. Mohammed Abu Al-Oyoun pointed out the importance of holding these scientific and educational seminars to enhance the awareness of the university community of the importance of preserving the environment and adopting sustainable development policies.

Dr. Essam Fadl Mohammed Abu Zeid stressed that the Faculty of Science pays special attention to environmental research, and seeks to highlight the impact of climate change on living organisms, and ways to achieve a sustainable environment.

The seminar program included several specialized scientific lectures, where Dr. Adel Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Al-Dahab presented a lecture entitled" green economy in light of climate changes", in which he discussed the mechanisms of achieving a green agro-vegetable and animal economy, and reviewed the projects of the Faculty of Agriculture in this field, such as roof cultivation, Azula production unit, expansion in jojoba cultivation, in addition to organizing a green energy exhibition.

Dr. Nasser Mohammed Abdul Latif, professor of Zoology and entomology, also presented a lecture entitled" The impact of environmental changes on living organisms and ways to combat them", in which he discussed biodiversity and means of adaptation to climate changes.

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Rahman Abdul Jawad, assistant professor at the Department of Botany and Microbiology, spoke about "climate change and their impact on plant diversity and proposed solutions to achieve sustainable development".

Dr. Mohammed Abdul Latif Juma, assistant professor at the Department of Botany and Microbiology, concluded the seminar with a lecture entitled" Microorganisms in a changing climate: challenges and opportunities to achieve sustainability", where he reviewed the relationship between climate change and the spread of microorganisms and mycotoxins.

At the end of the event, the lecturers were honored in recognition of their scientific contributions and efforts to enrich the symposium.

Assiut University wins (11) awards at the" 13th Creativity Festival " in the artistic, cultural, and artistic fields

Dr. El-Minshawy: honorable representation of Assiut University students at the 13th ibdaa festival, and I invite them to continue excellence and success

In a new achievement added to its track record, Assiut University has achieved (11) various awards in the literary, scientific, and artistic fields within the activities of the "13 creativity festival" organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the academic year 2024/2025, under the supervision of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, with the participation of universities, higher institutes, government, and private academies.

The University's participation came under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, and under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president for education and Student Affairs, Dr. Madiha Darwish, general supervisor of student activities, and Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, Director General of the General Administration of student welfare at the University.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy expressed his pride in the participating university students, congratulating them on the individual and collective awards won by the University. He called for continuing participation in student activities and enhancing the honorable representation of the University in local and international forums.

For his side, Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula praised the efforts of the staff of the student welfare department, who supported the participants until they achieved these achievements, stressing the keenness of the university administration to provide all possibilities to support students and hone their talents in various fields.

In the artistic field, the University's music team achieved the second place (non-specialized group playing), and the team included (17) students from various colleges, and the University's folk arts team consisting of (25)students received the award for the best musician and singing in the field of folk arts.

And in individual achievements: the student / Mario Wagdy Kamel _ Faculty of Dentistry _ won the first place in the solo performance, and
Student/Mira Reza _ fourth division _ Faculty of Fine Arts, won third place in the field of color photography (specialized).

The student/Muhammad Ali, fourth division, Faculty of Engineering, also received the best decoration award in the field of theatrical performances, and the student/ Ali Ayman, second division, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, received the jury award for the best movement performer in popular arts.

As for the cultural activity, the student/ Mohammed Anwar _ Faculty of nursing _ won the second place in colloquial poetry, the student/ Diab Saudi Diab _ Faculty of computers and information _ achieved the second place in classical poetry, the student/Nada Khaled _ Faculty of Fine Arts _ won the third place in the field of reporter, and the student/ Mahmoud Mohammed _ Faculty of medicine _ won the third place in playwriting.

In the scientific activity, the university achieved third place in the field of scientific innovations, through a team consisting of students Mohamed Hossam Mohamed, Amr Noureddine Abdellatif, and George Nabih Farid (Faculty of Engineering).

The delegation of the artistic activity was supervised by Mr. Mohammed Juma, director of the arts department, and led and trained by Mr. Hassan Badari, Ms. Rasha Jalal, Ms. Sheri Wajdi, Mr. Talaat Bakri, and Mr. Ahmed Mahmoud.

The cultural activity delegation was also supervised by Mr. Hashem Sayed, Ms. Abeer Yousry, Ms. Marwa Abdel Fattah, and Mr. Ahmed Nasr, while the scientific activity delegation was led by Mr. Walid Zeidan, Mr. Ahmed Hashem, and Mr. Mahmoud Al-Kashef.

Awareness Seminar at the South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut University on “Healthy Nutrition and Cancer Diseases”

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the South Egypt Cancer Institute organized an awareness seminar entitled “Healthy Nutrition and Cancer Diseases”, as part of the university’s commitment to promoting health awareness among both the university community and the wider society.

 

The seminar was held under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mohamed Abou El Magd, Dean of the South Egypt Cancer Institute; Dr. Amr Farouk, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Ibrahim Abu El-Oyoun, Director of the University Oncology Hospital. The event was attended by faculty members, doctors, and administrative staff at the institute.

 

Dr. El-Minshawy emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the relationship between healthy nutrition and disease prevention, particularly cancer, especially cancerous tumors, noting that the university seeks through these events to promote health culture and support prevention and treatment efforts. 

 

In his speech, Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem pointed out that the seminar comes within the university's efforts to spread health awareness and combat diseases, stressing the importance of organizing awareness events that aim to protect individuals from cancerous tumors, in line with the goals of sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030.

 

Dr. Mohamed Abou El Magd also praised the university administration's support for the institute's research and scientific activities, explaining that the institute seeks to provide awareness and treatment services to oncology patients, enhance its role in serving the community and provide psychological support to patients.

 

The seminar’s keynote speaker was Dr. Osama El-Asheer, Professor of Pediatrics and Head of the Clinical Nutrition Unit at the University Children’s Hospital, and President of the Upper Egypt Association for Clinical Nutrition. In his lecture, he addressed methods of cancer prevention through proper nutrition and the importance of early detection. He outlined the factors contributing to cancer, which include viruses and bacteria, radiation, chemical, genetic, hereditary, hormonal, and nutritional factors.

 

Dr. Osama El-Asheer also reviewed national early detection initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which include screening for breast, colon, cervical, prostate, and lung cancers. At the end of his lecture, he provided practical advice on proper nutrition for cancer patients and dietary practices that should be avoided in order to maintain a healthy and safe lifestyle.

Dr. El-Minshawy Welcomes President of the Mediterranean Association for Precision Surgery in Urologic Oncology During His Visit to Assiut University

On Wednesday, May 7, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received Dr. Ali Abdelkarim, Professor of Urology at the Faculty of Medicine – Alexandria University and President of the Mediterranean Association for Precision Surgery in Urologic Oncology. The visit comes as part of Dr. Abdelkarim’s academic engagement at the university, where he is participating in the discussion of a master’s thesis at the South Egypt Cancer Institute in the field of laparoscopic surgery of the bladder.

 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamed Abou El Magd, Dean of the South Egypt Cancer Institute, Dr. Ibrahim Abou El Ayoun, Director of the Oncology Hospital, Dr. Doaa Wadih Maximos, Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology at the Institute, Dr. Ali Zeidan, Professor of Surgical Oncology at the Institute, and Mostafa Hadia Abdel Salam, Teaching Assistant of Surgical Oncology at the Department of Surgical Oncology.

 

Dr. El-Minshawy welcomed Dr. Abdelkarim and praised his distinguished status as one of the world’s leading experts in urological endoscopic surgery. He emphasized the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting the medical sector and promoting research activities across its faculties. He also highlighted the significant trust placed by citizens of Upper Egypt in the university’s healthcare services, due to their outstanding quality and humanitarian approach.

 

Dr. El-Minshawy also praised the continuous development of the South Egypt Cancer Institute, which is an advanced international center for endoscopic microsurgery and plays an important role in training young doctors and exchanging experiences between Assiut University professors and Egyptian universities, all aimed at enhancing healthcare quality and achieving the highest recovery rates for cancer patients in Upper Egypt.

 

For his part, Dr. Ali Abdelkarim expressed his pride in visiting Assiut University, praising its outstanding scientific and medical capabilities, and emphasizing his keenness to participate in its scientific events and benefit from its advanced research expertise. He also praised the remarkable development in laparoscopic surgeries at the South Egypt Cancer Institute, which aligns with the highest global standards of medical excellence.

 

It is worth mentioning that Dr. Ali Abdelkarim is participating in the discussion of the master's thesis submitted by Dr. Mostafa Hadia Abdel Salam, entitled “A Comparative Study Between Open Radical Cystectomy and Laparoscopic Radical Cystectomy in the Short Term.”

Dr. El-Minshawy inaugurates the second forum for the rehabilitation of teachers of children with special needs and the Montessori curriculum, organized by the Faculty of Early Childhood Education at Assiut University

Assiut University President: The forum is in line with the state's trends in empowering people of determination and integrating them within Egypt's Vision 2030

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, opened today, Wednesday, May 7, the second forum for students of teachers of children with special needs and the Montessori curriculum, organized by the Faculty of Early Childhood Education.

 

The forum is held to celebrate the conclusion of the activities of the students of the first division, which have two programs: preparing teachers for children with special needs and preparing teachers for children with the integrated activities system of Montessori. These programs are supervised by Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Yara Ibrahim, dean of the college, and the chairman of the forum.

A number of directors and officials of centers and institutions specialized in children's education, representatives of the Department of Special Education for Education and Inclusive Kindergartens, and a selection of faculty members at the faculties of Education, Early Childhood Education, and Qualitative Education also attended.

At the beginning of his speech during the opening of the forum, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy expressed his happiness with the participation of the College of education for early childhood in the opening of its second forum for students of teachers of children with special needs and the Montessori curriculum, stressing that this event represents an important step towards enhancing the role of the University in preparing qualified educational cadres, possessing the competence and knowledge to keep abreast of the developments of the educational process, and responding to the requirements of educational development, especially in the fields of early childhood and caring for children with special needs, as they are important foundations in building a more just and inclusive society.

 

The president of the University added: "the organization of this forum comes within the framework of the great attention paid by the state to supporting and empowering people of determination, a trend that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi always emphasizes by making their rights and full integration into society a national priority and a key pillar in achieving the development goals within Egypt's Vision 2030 ."

 

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University assumes a great responsibility in preparing and qualifying educational cadres capable of positively interacting with the needs of this dear category of compatriots, by providing them with skills and knowledge that qualify them to work efficiently and professionally in this important humanitarian and educational field.

 

He added that the university continues to develop its academic and training programs in line with the latest educational trends, and the most prominent of these programs is the Montessori curriculum, which has proven successful in supporting children's abilities and providing an educational environment that takes into account individual differences and promotes self-learning and creativity.

 

The president of Assiut University stressed that this forum embodies the outstanding fruit of the activities of the students of the first division with two leading programs: the program for preparing teachers of children with special needs, and the program for preparing teachers of children with the system of integrated activities – Montessori, which reflect the vision of the College in preparing a generation of scientifically and educationally qualified teachers.

 

At the end of his speech, Dr. El-Minshaw extended his sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed to the organization of this forum, including the faculty members, the auxiliary staff, students, and administrators, for their sincere efforts in making this important event a success, hoping that the forum will achieve its goals in enriching the experiences of our students and preparing them to be teachers with a high degree of efficiency and responsibility.

 

Dr. Yara Ibrahim explained that the forum aimed to highlight the college's role in preparing future teachers in line with the needs of the labor market, and at the same time embodies the college's vision of linking academic education with practical application, through partnership with community institutions, and providing opportunities for its students to interact directly with real-life work environments.

 

She added that this is in line with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research in Egypt 2030, which aims to promote innovation and link education with the labor market, as well as support the Sustainable Development Goals, especially the fourth goal related to ensuring equitable and inclusive quality education for all.

 

In this context, the chairperson of the forum stressed that the college offers two distinct programs: the program for preparing teachers of children with special needs and the Montessori program, both of which seek to qualify educational cadres capable of achieving effective integration and dealing with diverse educational environments efficiently and consciously.

 

Within the framework of the forum activities, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy opened a simulation exhibition for the "Montessori" kindergarten, preparing children's teachers with the "Montessori" integrated activities system. the exhibition included a variety of educational and sensory aids designed according to the Montessori philosophy, which takes into account individual differences between children, supports active interaction and the development of their sensory and motor skills. Among the tools on display are: color boxes, Brown ladder, pink tower, spinning box, and sanding boards.

 

The exhibition was held under the supervision of Dr. Wafa Maher, assistant professor at the Department of Basic Sciences, and Dr. Rania Al-Jundi, assistant professor at the Department of Educational Sciences, and coordinator of the program for preparing children's teachers with the integrated activities system "Montessori".

 

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy also opened the exhibition of educational products and tools for children with special needs, which was presented by the students of the special needs teachers' preparation program. The exhibition included a set of educational models designed by the students of the program, to develop cognitive, motor, and social skills in children and contribute to facilitating the educational process and achieving effective integration within the educational environment.

 

The exhibition was organized under the supervision of: Dr. Reham Al-meliji, head of the Department of Educational Sciences, Dr. Manal Anwar, professor at the Department of Educational Sciences and vice dean of the college for graduate studies and research, Dr. Doaa Mohammed Mustafa, head of the Department of Psychological Sciences, Dr. Jihad Taha, teacher at the Department of Educational Sciences and program coordinator.

 

The forum witnessed various artistic events, where the students of the first band presented an awareness show entitled "moment of awareness", followed by distinguished performances by the children of Al Noor school for the blind and Al Amal school for the deaf, highlighting their talents and outstanding abilities.

 

The events also included a singing performance in sign language, as well as the performance of "the descendants of Montessori", presented by the students of the first troupe of the Montessori system Teacher Preparation Program for children, and the operetta "Zik Zina", presented by one of the distinguished graduates of the College in the field of special education.

 

At the end of the opening session of the forum, the forum Shield was presented to Dr. Ahmed Al-manshawi, president of the University, and Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president for education and student affairs, in appreciation of their continuous support for the activities of the college.

 

Ms. Mona Abu Talab, director of the special education department at the Directorate of education, Ms. hind suaifi, director of Al Noor school for the blind, Mr. Ahmed Farouk, director of Al Amal school for the deaf, in addition to the participating children and supervisors from Al Noor and Al Amal schools, were also honored in recognition of their active role and distinguished contributions to the success of the forum's activities.

 

The forum included the holding of two Scientific Sessions that discussed the most prominent challenges facing the reality of specialized education. The first session, entitled "Preparing teachers of the special needs program", addressed the issues and problems facing institutions and caregivers of children with special needs, supported by the results of a field survey that included a number of special education centers in Assiut governorate, which added a practical dimension to the dialogue.

 

The second session, which was entitled "Preparing teachers of the Montessori integrated activities program", focused on the challenges facing kindergarten teachers in applying the Montessori philosophy, which contributes to the development of the educational environment according to a modern educational methodology that supports the child's development.

  Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, witnessed on Sunday evening, May 4, 2025, the activities of the celebration organized by the Fulbright Commission to honor graduates of its programs from various institutions and universities in Assiut, Sohag, and Minya governorates, in conjunction with the seventy-fifth anniversary of the commission's establishment. The event also included the celebration of the first PhD thesis within the Fulbright Program, in the presence and supervision of Dr. Maggie Nassif, executive director of Fulbright Egypt.

 

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Jamal Badr, vice-president for graduate studies and research, Dr. Nobi Mohammed Hassan, vice-president of Assiut Al-Ahlia University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Gabi Samaan, professor of intercultural communication at the American University of Toledo, Dr. Rehab Al-Dakhli, head of the media department and media advisor to the president of the University, Mr. Mohammed Adel, representative of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, as well as several deans of the University's faculties, Faculty members, and a selection of Fulbright Commission.

 

  Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, praised the leading role played by the Fulbright Commission in promoting academic and cultural exchange between countries, pointing out that its programs represent a distinct opportunity for faculty members and researchers to gain experience and exchange knowledge with a selection of international universities and academic institutions.

 

  Dr. El-Minshawy stressed Assiut University's keenness to build effective partnerships that contribute to the development of academic programs raise their efficiency, and provide an advanced educational environment in line with international best practices. He also called on young researchers and faculty members to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Fulbright Commission through its diverse programs in various fields.

 

  Dr. El-Minshawy congratulated researcher Arwa Nobi, assistant lecturer at the media department at the Faculty of Arts, on the occasion of receiving her PhD in media, as the first graduate of the Fulbright doctoral program from Assiut University, considering this a role model in benefiting from these programs.

 

   For her side, Dr. Maggie Nassif, executive director of the Fulbright Commission, expressed her happiness with the participation of Assiut University in the celebrations of the commission's 75th anniversary, noting that Fulbright is an Egyptian-American institution operating under a protocol of cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries, and contributes an active role in supporting education and scientific research.

 

Dr. Maggie Nassif stressed the authority's pride in the extended cooperative relations with Assiut University, a major academic partner of the authority, praising the University's clear efforts in the fields of education, research, and training, and its prestigious position at the local and international levels.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, opened today, Monday, May, the events of the introductory and awareness-raising meeting organized by the University in cooperation with the Fulbright Commission, in the presence of the commission's delegation headed by Dr. Maggie Nassif, executive director of the Fulbright Commission Egypt, and Dr. Gaby Samaan, professor of intercultural communication at the University of Toledo, under the supervision of Dr. Gamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and research.

 

The meeting included an introductory seminar delivered by Dr. Maggie Nassif, on "grants and opportunities provided by the Fulbright Commission", with the participation of Ms. Batool Khalid, program officer, and Mr. ASER Hani, assistant director of programs. Dr. Gaby Samaan also presented a lecture entitled "Building Bridges of Communication between Cultures in a Changing World: Towards More Cooperation".

 

In his speech during the opening ceremony, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy expressed his great welcome to the delegation of the Fulbright Commission, praising the role of the commission in supporting aspects of academic and cultural cooperation between Egypt and the United States of America, and promoting the principles of understanding and integration between peoples, especially in light of accelerated global changes.

 

The president of the University stressed the pride of Assiut University in the extended relationship with the Fulbright Commission, which represents a distinctive model of fruitful cooperation in the fields of higher education and scientific research, pointing out that the commission's programs provide excellent opportunities for researchers, faculty members, and students to exchange experiences and engage in advanced scientific and research environments.

 

He added that these events come within the University's orientation towards expanding its academic partnerships internationally and building bridges of cooperation with prestigious institutions, which contributes to the development of academic programs and achieving advanced positions in global rankings.

 

 The president of Assiut University stressed the importance of cultural meetings that support internationalization and academic reference, and support the Egyptian state Vision 2030 and Development Goals،

 

Dr. El-Minshawy concluded his speech, saying: "In every communication with others, we have to respect their culture and improve the representation of our country, the dialogue between cultures begins with respect and grows with understanding and openness ."

 

  For her side, Dr. Maggie Nassif expressed her thanks to Assiut University and its administration for the fruitful cooperation with the authority, praising the leading role of the University in benefiting from the authority's grants since its establishment, which helped to expand the scope of academic cooperation and cultural openness.

 

Nasif explained that the Fulbright Commission is an Egyptian-American institution established under a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian and American Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and works under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the framework of supporting innovation and cultural exchange and preparing young cadres for the labor market.

 

She reviewed the progress of the commission and its programs aimed at promoting joint learning and knowledge exchange between peoples, noting the success of the joint scientific supervision program, from which researcher Arwa Nobi graduated as the first PhD holder from the Commission, expressing her aspiration for further joint cooperation in the future.

 

Ms. Batoul Khaled presented the Fulbright programs offered to Egyptian researchers, which include master's, doctoral, scientific research, Islamic studies, technical and professional grants, in addition to training programs for English teachers, explaining the application mechanisms, dates, and required conditions.

 

Mr. Aser Hani also discussed the programs offered to Americans, such as the American Student Program, the American Researcher, and the specialized program, explaining the steps and procedures of application and selection criteria, in addition to the official platforms that provide detailed information for those wishing to register.

 

During his awareness lecture, Dr. Gaby Simaan addressed the importance of intercultural communication as one of the vital areas to enhance international cooperation, pointing to the role of this specialization in changing stereotypes, opening up to diverse traditions, and building more inclusive societies.

 

Dr. Samaan reviewed the development of this field since its inception after the Second World War, stressing that the efficiency of communication requires cultural awareness and appropriate behavior, calling for investing this specialization in promoting mutual understanding between peoples and the exchange of knowledge and experiences at various levels.

 

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy presented the Shield of Assiut University to Dr. Maggie Nassif and Dr. Gaby Samaan, in appreciation of the constructive academic cooperation with the Fulbright Commission, and support to enhance opportunities for joint scientific and cultural cooperation in the future.

Tomorrow is an awareness lecture at Assiut National University on intercultural communication in a changing world

Within the framework of joint scientific and research cooperation, and out of Assiut University's keenness to strengthen international partnerships and openness to international academic institutions, the university is organizing an awareness lecture tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 under the title:

"Building bridges of communication between cultures in a changing world towards more cooperation", under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University and Commissioner for conducting the work of Assiut Al-Ahlia University, and under the supervision of Dr. Nobi Mohammed Hassan, vice president of Assiut Al-Ahlia University for Academic Affairs, delivered by Dr. Gabi Samaan, professor of cross-cultural communication at the American University of Toledo.

 

The lecture will be held at exactly twelve o'clock in the afternoon at the headquarters of Assiut National University in New Assiut, and in the presence of a group of professors, researchers and interested students.

 

This event comes within the framework of Assiut University's keenness to create an open and multicultural educational environment that contributes to building students ' awareness capable of effective communication with the world.
