عميد كلية الطب يستقبل اعضاء اللجنة العلمية للمبادرة الرئاسية للكشف المبكر وعلاج الاورام السرطانية.  

استقبل الدكتور علاء عطية عميد كلية الطب ورئيس مجلس إدارة المستشفيات الجامعية ،اليوم الاحد الموافق ١٢ نوفمبر ٢٠٢٣ وفد ممثلاً من المبادره الرئاسيه للكشف المبكر و علاج الاورام وضم الوفد الدكتور محمد ابو الفتوح  والدكتورة نرڤانا حسين  والدكتور احمد مرسي والدكتور احمد مجدي والدكتورة نيرمين مصطفي والدكتورة علياء مجدي وبحضور الدكتور سمير شحاته رئيس قسم الأورام والطب النووي والدكتورة سمياء حمدي المنسق العام لمبادرة الكشف المبكر بالمستشفيات الجامعية.

وتأتي الزيارة ضمن ورش العمل التي تنظمها مستشفيات جامعة أسيوط للفرق الطبية بالمستشفيات الجامعية بالتعاون مع المبادرة الرئاسية للكشف المبكر وعلاج الأورام السرطانية، برعاية الدكتور أحمد المنشاوي رئيس الجامعة والدكتور محمد حساني مساعد وزير الصحة للمبادرات العامة،والدكتور وليد أنور أمين المجلس الأعلى للمستشفيات الجامعية  علاء عطية عميد كلية الطب ورئيس مجلس إدارة المستشفيات، والدكتور إيهاب فوزي المدير التنفيذي للمستشفيات الجامعية ،في إطار المبادرة الرئاسية للكشف المبكر وعلاج الأورام السرطانية ، ويشارك فيها كوكبة من الأساتذة وأعضاء هيئة التدريس بكلية الطب جامعة أسيوط.

والجدير بالذكر انه تم اليوم عمل ٤ ورش عمل بقسم الأشعة بالمستشفى الرئيس الجامعي و بقاعة المؤتمرات بمستشفى صحة المرأة الجامعي، و بمركز المناظير بمستشفى الراجحي الجامعي، وأيضا قاعة المؤتمرات بمستشفى القلب الجامعي.

PROF. DR. IKRAM ABDEL SALAM AWARD FOR MEDICAL GENETICS

The Graduate Studies Sector of the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University announces the award of Prof. Dr. Ikram Abdel Salam, Professor of Pediatrics in the Faculty, which is awarded in the field of medical genetics. The award is given for the best research published in the field of medical genetics during the previous three years, provided that the applicant’s role in research, originality, innovation and the possibility of the application can be submitted to the award by graduates of Egyptian medical colleges or colleges of pharmacy and sciences, and the deadline for application is 12/31/2021.

Current insight into enteropathogens in flare-up ulcerative colitis. An observational stu

Research Abstract

Objective: Incidence of ulcerative colitis is globally increased. Enteric infections and their role in ulcerative colitis flares present a common health problem and a unique clinical challenge. We aimed to identify enteropathogens in flared ulcerative colitis patients and their antimicrobial susceptibilities and relation with the disease activity.

Methods: Stool samples were collected from 95 patients with ulcerative colitis (17 inactive cases and 78 active cases) according to the Mayo score assessment of ulcerative colitis severity. Enteropathogens were examined using an automated VITEK2 system and FilmArray gastrointestinal pathogen panel.

Results: Enteric infections were found in 81 patients (85.3%) with a significantly higher percentage in active ulcerative colitis (96.2% vs. 35.3%, P < 0.001). In 78 symptomatic patients, (78.7%) of bacteria as enteroaggregative and enteropathogenic E. coli , (11.5%) parasitic as Cryptosporidium and (7.7%) viral as Norovirus were the most detected microbial pathogens. Mixed, multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) and opportunistic infections were reported in 70.7%, 52.9% and 46.7% respectively. Raoultella ornithinolytica was reported for the first time as an enteropathogen in ulcerative colitis flare. Multiple organisms, MDROs, extended-spectrum beta-lactamases-producing and AmpC-resistant bacteria were significantly associated with disease severity.

Conclusion: Identifying enteropathogens especially opportunistic and MDR organisms as a cause of ulcerative colitis flare-ups is a matter of worry increasing their diagnostic and therapeutic burden. Periodic studies evaluating changes in microbial profiles and their antimicrobial susceptibilities are needed to achieve antibiotic stewardship and improve management.
