Assiut University cooperates with the governorate to develop a plan for the safe disposal of stray dogs

As part of its keenness to enhance the security and safety of the university community, Assiut University held an expanded meeting of the stray dogs Control Committee, in coordination with Assiut governorate, to develop a safe plan to deal with stray dogs inside the university campus and throughout the governorate, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of the University, and the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr. Mina Emad, deputy governor of Assiut.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that the university places the safety of individuals and facilities at the forefront of its priorities, and seeks to find radical solutions based on a scientific and practical approach, in cooperation with the relevant executive bodies, to ensure addressing the phenomenon without violating environmental and humanitarian standards, pointing out that the university is committed to its role as an educational and research institution in supporting societal issues and offering sustainable solutions to them.

  Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim pointed out that the meeting witnessed a thorough discussion of ways to deal with stray dogs by safe and harmless means, while raising the level of coordination between various authorities, in addition to intensifying awareness campaigns within the University and the local community on how to prevent and deal with such cases.

  For his side, Dr. Mina Emad explained that Assiut Governorate is keen to coordinate with the University and all concerned executive bodies to eliminate the phenomenon of stray dogs, stressing the importance of involving civil associations and animal rights organizations in the development and implementation of appropriate programs to achieve a balance between human protection and environmental conservation.

The meeting concluded with several important recommendations, most notably activating the role of the technical committee specialized in countering this phenomenon by Article (1) of the executive regulations issued by the prime minister's Decision No. 1731 of 2025, in addition to addressing civil society organizations and associations specialized in animal welfare to submit practical proposals that can be implemented in coordination with the Ministry of social solidarity, in addition to the formation of a joint committee from the University and the governorate to study the situation and follow up implementation mechanisms.

The committee included several specialists, including: Dr. Madiha Darwish, dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Doib Saber, dean of the Faculty of law and legal adviser to the president of the University, Dr. Mahmoud Mustafa, director of the Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Mohammed Zain, undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Abdul Rahim Ahmed Abdul Rahim, undersecretary of the Ministry of agriculture, as well as a number of executive leaders at the University and the governorate. The regularity of postgraduate examinations at Assiut University is under the organized control.. And 25 thousand students are taking exams this year

Assiut University continues to conduct postgraduate examinations in its various faculties for the academic year 2024/2025 under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, the University's president, amid full commitment to the controls and regulations governing the examination process.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the keenness of the university administration to follow up on the regularity of the second semester exams for graduate students accurately and with discipline, noting that the number of students enrolled in graduate studies this year is about 25 thousand students at the Diploma, Master's, and doctoral levels.

The president of the University stressed the importance of full compliance with all instructions and regulations governing the examination process, while providing a calm and safe environment within the committees, and providing all means of support and care for students, to ensure their performance of exams in an appropriate atmosphere that helps them focus and achieve the best results.

In a related context, Dr. Jamal Badr, vice president for graduate studies and Research Affairs, conducted an inspection tour of the Graduate Examination Committees at the colleges of Fine Arts and Letters, where he assured the progress of the exams, praising the good organization and discipline within the committees.

Dr. Jamal Bader inspected the conduct of the preliminary master's exams at the College of Fine Arts, which will last from July 5 to 12, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Helmy Al-Hefnawi, dean of the college and its undersecretary for graduate studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Mansour Al-Mansi, former dean of the college, and Mr. Mukhlas Farouk Ayad, Secretary of the college.

The vice president of the university also visited the Graduate examination committees at the Faculty of Arts, where he was received by Dr. Magdy Alwan, dean of the Faculty, Dr. Sameh al Banna, vice dean for graduate studies and research, Dr. Mohammed Abu Rahab, vice dean for education and student affairs, as well as the heads of various departments, and professor Ezz Al Mansouri, Secretary of the faculty. During the meeting, he assured the regularity of the exams, praising the good organization within the committees, and directing them to provide all necessary support and facilities for students during the exam period.

During his tour, Dr. Jamal Badr pointed out the need to meet all the needs of students and provide a comfortable and supportive atmosphere within the committees, with full commitment to the strict application of controls, stressing the University's keenness to ensure transparency and integrity and provide a safe and orderly examination environment.

Under the supervision of Dr. El-Minshawy: Assiut University organizes a training workshop for field review teams in preparation for the best environmentally friendly college competition.. Field visits will start on July 14, 2025

Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the university organized today, Tuesday, July 8, 2025, a training workshop entitled "field review techniques for the criteria of the best eco-friendly college competition 2024/2025", which aimed to train field review teams in preparation for the implementation of competition visits, to enhance the concepts of sustainability and support outstanding environmental practices within the University's colleges.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the efforts of sustainability and expansion of targeted environmental practices, explaining that the competition has the participation of 21 colleges and institutes, which reflects the importance of this event in spreading environmental awareness within the university community. He also pointed out that the university is working to promote a culture of environmental awareness, and the competition is an important step to motivate colleges to apply effective environmental practices and contribute to improving the university work environment.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Alim, vice president of the University for community service and environmental development, explained that the workshop aimed to introduce the teams to the mechanisms of implementing field visits, with an explanation of the evaluation tools adopted in the competition, pointing to the importance of the workshop in controlling the standards of visits and standardizing evaluation procedures within all colleges, he also stressed that this training represents an essential step to ensure fair and objective evaluation, and achieve the objectives of the competition in upgrading the environmental level of participating colleges.

During the workshop, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa Hamad, professor at the College of education and the general coordinator of the competition, gave a detailed explanation of the steps of implementing the field visits, starting from holding a meeting with the college administration and the work team, through providing a video and a presentation on the college's efforts to meet the criteria of the competition, defining the tasks of the team members and accurately distributing roles, in addition to determining the schedule of field visits, reviewing the tools needed to collect and analyze data, and also discussed how to assess the infrastructure, risk management, and the working environment of the participating colleges.

Dr. Amr said Deif, professor at the Faculty of Science and executive coordinator of the competition, also presented the evaluation axes related to energy and Water Management, Waste Management, and transportation steps, and the aesthetic appearance of the College, in addition to presenting some applied models that can be used during field visits.

It is planned that the field audit teams will begin carrying out their scheduled visits to the colleges participating in the competition starting from Monday, July 14, 2025, according to an approved schedule, to ensure that all the prescribed procedures are met accurately and with discipline.

The workshop was attended by a number of faculty members and administrative leaders participating in the implementation of the competition, namely: Dr. Mohammed Abdul Basit, vice dean of the College of specific education for community service and Environmental Development, Dr. Awad Ibrahim Mohammed Sayed, professor at the College of Science, Dr. Marianne Milad Mansour, professor at the College of Education, Dr. Amr Hassan Abu fedan, assistant professor at the College of Medicine and deputy director of the International Classification Office, Dr. Al-Hajjaj Ahmed Hassan Ali, assistant professor at the College of Science, Dr. Sanaa Mohammed Zahran Omar, assistant professor at the College of Social Work, Dr. Amal Ali Mahmoud Sultan, Professor Assistant at the Faculty of Education, Dr. Randa Yousef Mohammed Sultan, assistant professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Walid Eid Mustafa Abdullah, teacher at the Faculty of Commerce, Dr. Mahmoud Jamal al-Din al-Qadi, teacher at the Faculty of Dentistry, Mr. Osama al-Sayed Mahmoud, Assistant Secretary General of the University, Mr. Ayman Ahmed Shehata, assistant secretary general of the University.

Assiut University Holds the Fifth Community Environmental Day of the Faculty of Medicine under the Theme: “Heat Stroke: Stay Cool, Stay Safe” at the Main University Hospital

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Medicine, in cooperation with the Department of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, organized the Fifth Community Environmental Day under the theme  “Heat Stroke: Stay Cool, Stay Safe.”
The event was supervised by Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Prof. Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board.

 Dr. Huda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Hanan Nafea, Head of the Department of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Sahar Hassani, Professor of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, and Dr. Nahed Makhlouf, Professor of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, attended the fifth community environmental day with the participation of faculty members, their assistants, young doctors, nurses, and staff.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that organizing the Community Environmental Day reflects the university’s commitment to raising public health awareness, especially amid the rising temperatures during the summer season. He noted that such events contribute to promoting preventive culture and educating citizens, staff, and patients within the university hospitals on heat stroke prevention and management. He also praised the Faculty of Medicine’s ongoing community and awareness efforts, which are a natural extension of the university’s mission to serve society and support sustainable development.

Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Aleem stated that the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector is keen to organize purposeful awareness seminars that enhance both environmental and health literacy among citizens. He noted that the fifth Community Environmental Day of the Faculty of Medicine is one of the most prominent events combining health education with the promotion of safety and prevention; particularly concerning the dangers of direct sun exposure and ways to avoid it in order to protect human health and contribute to sustainable development goals.

Dr. Alaa Attia explained that the faculty places great importance on its societal role through the organization of educational and awareness activities targeting various segments of the community. He noted that choosing the topic of heat stroke reflects the faculty’s awareness of seasonal health challenges and its keenness to guide the community on safe practices, by disseminating medically accurate knowledge based on scientific foundations.

Dr. Huda Makhlouf confirmed that the fifth Community Environmental Day of the Faculty of Medicine aims to enhance public awareness regarding the importance of following proper preventive measures and responding promptly and correctly to symptoms of heat stroke. She emphasized that this fruitful scientific event affirms the faculty’s leading role in serving the local community by leveraging its medical and academic expertise to protect public health and promote a culture of prevention as a cornerstone of comprehensive healthcare.

Dr. Hanan Nafea reviewed that the day included a number of awareness lectures, including: A lecture titled Overview of the body's response to heat by Dr. Doaa Abdel Tawab, Assistant Consultant of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, a lecture titled Recognizing Heat Stroke: Signs and Symptoms in Adults and Children, by Dr. Mohamed Ezzeldin, Lecturer of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, and a lecture titled Heatstroke: First Aid by Dr. Amira Mohamed Abdel Gawad,  Lecturer of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology, Impact of Heatstroke on the Liver and Liver Transplant Recipients by Dr. Nahed Makhlouf, Professor of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology and Head of the Liver Transplant Internal Medicine Team, and Stressed Liver in a Hot Planet by Dr. Nahed Makhlouf: Climate change is reshaping liver health.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, received on Sunday morning, July 6, a high-level delegation of dignitaries and officials, as part of the University's celebrations of the twelfth anniversary of the glorious June 30 Revolution.

The delegation included Major General Sayed Radwan Sani, assistant commander of the Southern Military Region, the head of the military intelligence office in Assiut Governorate, and a media expert on moral Affairs.

Assiut University announces the launch of the summer sports activity to discover talents and develop skills

Under the supervision of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, president of Assiut University, the General Department of Youth Welfare – Sports Activity Department-announced the launch of the summer sports activity, which will last until August 28, and includes many team and individual games.

The summer activity is supervised by Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula, vice president for education and Student Affairs; Dr. Madiha Darwish, general supervisor of student activities; and Dr. Haitham Ibrahim, Director General of the General Administration of Youth Welfare.

The activity includes specialized centers for training and education in several sports, most notably: volleyball, handball, basketball, and swimming, under the supervision of a group of specialized coaches, in order to support students ' abilities and hone their sports talents.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed that Assiut University pays great attention to summer activities, because of their role in discovering and nurturing young sports talents within a safe and modern environment, pointing out that sport is an integral part of building a conscious and active generation, enjoying good health, and adopting a balanced lifestyle, as well as benefiting from qualified sports cadres within the University.

For his side, Dr. Ahmed Abdulmoula stressed the importance of using the summer holidays to practice useful activities, stressing that sports contribute to the development of a balanced personality, and also provide an opportunity to discover skills and talents and refine them, qualifying students to participate in university and local competitions.

The Sports Activity Department called on all students wishing to participate to quickly go to the headquarters of the General Directorate of Youth Welfare to register their names and join the activities.
