Thermal3DImage. Survey Review

Research Abstract
Energy saving is an important issue. Heating and cooling systems in buildings consume too much energy. Therefore new regulations have appeared in Europe to control the energy consumed by such systems. Building insulation efficiency is our concern here, not the heating or cooling systems themselves. Thermography is a practical tool for checking insulation efficiency. This tool requires the geometry and visible view of the building concerned, to compute correctly the amount of heat emitted and then check it against the accepted limits. In this paper, an integration technique for the thermal image, the laser scanner point cloud/mesh and the digital image is introduced. After registering and fusing the three data sets a Themal3DImage is created. An evaluation test was performed and it was found that registering the thermal and visual images using two-dimensional transformation equations provided reliable results.

Steady-State Modeling and Control of a Microgrid Supplying Irrigation load in Toshka Area", 38th Annual IEEE Industrial Electronics Conf

Research Abstract
This paper is aimed at sizing solar-wind-battery standalone microgrid for supplying irrigation and domestic loads in Toshka area, Toshka, Egypt. Not only the MG system components but also the interconnection cables and feeders are sized. Steady-state power flow through the MG system is analysed at varying sun irradiation and wind speed. Modeling of the MG components and their control of system voltages, currents and powers are investigated. Power flows during different MG operation conditions including absence of wind and sun as well as sudden disconnection of the load are studied.

Dual-Polarized Dielectric-Loaded Monopole Antenna for Wideband Communication Applications

Research Abstract
A dual-polarized dielectric-loaded monopole antenna for wideband communication applications is presented. The antenna is constructed by using two antenna elements orthogonal to each other. The antenna element consists of a microstripline-fed printed monopole with a finite truncated ground loaded with a dielectric resonator (DR). First, the antenna element is designed, fabricated and experimentally tested. Then the proposed design was extended to develop a dual-polarized antenna. Theantenna impedance match is better than 10 dB over91.3% from 4.4 to 11.8 GHzfor both polarizations and the measured isolation between the two polarization ports is betterthan 20 dB within the frequency band of interest whereas the maximum isolation achieved is _27 dB. The cross-polarization levels in both planes are better than 20 dB. Both theoretical and experimental results in terms of return loss, isolation and radiation pattern are presented and discussed.
