Minimal invasive approachs for intrathoracic benign disease

Research Abstract
Benign lesions should preferably be approached through minimal invasive approach, although many surgeons still believe that minimal invasive surgery is not suitable in some benign intrathoracic pathologies due to size wise or adhesions from inflammatory process. We believe that every patient with a benign intrathoracic disease should be offered a minimal invasive approach as most of these patients are young, healthy with minimal or no symptoms so it is important to minimize chest trauma and its consequences. We would like to thank the authors of the letter to the editor “An incidental unique mediastinal mass in anasymptomatic young patient: thymolipoma “for their wonderful results but we just represent our case with nearly similar pathology, mediastinal lipoma, which was successfully managed by VATS approach.

Sewing needle penetration into the heart in an infant

Research Abstract
Sewing needle penetration into the heart is a rare occurrence. Clinical presentation and timing substantially affect the decision of surgeon and management approach. In this article, we report an 18-month case with a sewing needle penetration into the heart which was mistaken as foreign body aspiration showing migration. It should be kept in mind that sharp foreign objects can reach into the thoracic cavity through not only alimentary tract and airways, but also through externally penetrating trauma
