Influence of Different Nitrogen Fertilizer Sources on Growth and Productivity of Williams Banana Plants.

Research Abstract

Experiments were carried out during two consecutive 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons to measure the influence of various sources of nitrogen fertilizers on enhancing growth and fruiting of Williams banana plants grown under Qena Governorate, Egypt. Applying 25% of the recommended nitrogen dose along with 25 to 50% organic-N enriched with EM as a bio-form at 50 or 25% were effective in enhancing all growth aspects, production and fruit quality compared to the control. Using combination of three forms of nitrogen were more favorable than using mineral-N alone.Therefore, it could be concluded that using three forms of nitrogen fertilizers get high yield with good fruit quality of Williams bananas.  In addition, it reduces the cost of production and environmental pollution, due to excess of chemical fertilizers..

Effect of plastic covering and potassium fertilization source on growth and fruiting of Flame seedless grapevines

Research Abstract

Grapevine growth and fruiting are affected by covering and potassium fertilization. For two years field study, 2019 and 2020 seasons in a factorial experiment in randomized complete block design were conducted to study the effects of plastic covering and potassium fertilizer sources on Flame Seedless grapevines. Flame Seedless grown in Upper Egypt and harvested between 15th May to 10th June. In this time, market of table grape is suffering from over supply. Thus, prices decrease considerably in the market. On other contrary, harvesting early (before mid of May) leads to at least a 50% increase in the total income. In this experiment outdoor grown Flame Seedless grapevines were covered with UV+IR (Ultra violet + Infra-red) type of polyethylene film (PE) after dormex application at first week of January. Phenological phases like bud-burst, flowering, veraison and ripening as well as vegetative growth, yield quality were determined. Using potassin or feldspar plus potassin significantly increased the growth, and significantly improved the vine nutritional status as well as significantly yield components and improved berry quality. Plastic covering significantly enhanced the dates of all phonological phases, especially ripening that was earlier about 17 & 22 days in both studied seasons compared to uncovered ones. Plastic covering has a positive effect on growth aspects, yield and fruit quality. So, it could be concluded that Flame Seedless grape cultivar gave the highest and earliest yield with good berry quality when covering with plastic film and fertilized with feldspar plus potassin as natural sources of potassium.

Effect of nano-potassium fertilization on fruiting of Zaghloul date palm.

Research Abstract

This investigation was conducted during the two successive seasons i.e. 2019 and 2020 on Zaghloul date palm grown at the experimental orchard, Faculty of Agriculture, South Valley University, Qena, Egypt. This work conducted to study the effect of different sources of potassium fertilizers on fruiting of Zaghloul date palm under Qena condition. Potassium fertilization via nano-technology, vinasse and potassin were used. The experiment was arranged in a complete randomized design with three replications. It is evident from the obtained results that using nano-potassium, either soil dressing or foliar spray, as well as foliar spray of vinasse or potassin significantly increased the fruit retention, bunch weight and yield/palm compared to fertilize by potassium sulphate (check treatment). Also, these treatments significantly improved dates quality in terms of increasing fruit weight, flesh percentage, TSS, sugar percentages and anthocyanin contents moreover, decreasing total acidity and total tannins compared to fertilize with the recommended potassium doses via potassium sulphate. From the results, it could be concluded that fertilized Zaghloul date palm with potassium fertilization via foliar spray of either nano-potassium, vinasse or potassium to improve the fertilization efficiency and get high yield with best dates quality. In addition, hasten advance the fruit ripening and overcome potassium fertilization problems.

Efficiency of Extracts of Three Medicinal Plants to Improve Growth, Yield and Quality of Red Roomy Grapevine.

Research Abstract

The main objective of this investigation was to study the effects of some plant extracts e.g. licorice root, roselle calyxes or moringa leaves extracts at different phenological stages of grapevine growth, productivity and physico-chemical berry quality of Red Romy. The experiment was carried out during 2019 and 2020 seasons. These extracts were using with their different concentrations(control: spraying with water, moringa leaf extract 4, 6 and 8%,licorice root extract 2, 4 and 6% and roselle calyxes extract 2,4 and 6% concentrations)were applied as a foliar spray three times as follows: at growth start, just after berry setting and at three weeks later.The foliar spray of moringa, roselle or licorice extracts were very effective in improvement the yield/vine and cluster traits. Also, these treatments significantly improved the quality berry as an of increasing the berry weight, total soluble solids and skin anthocyanin of berries compared to untreated ones. The best results were obtained on the vines that sprayed with 6% moringa extract. It could be concluded that spraying moringa at 6%, licorice at 4% or roselle extract at 4% three times annually was necessary to get high yield with good cluster and berry quality of Red Romy grapevines.

Response of Thompson Seedless Grapevines to Foliar Sprays with GA3 and some Natural Compounds

Research Abstract

The present investigation was carried out during 2019 and 2020 seasons to
study the effect of GA3 and some natural plant compounds on growth and fruiting
of Thompson Seedless grapevines. The experiment was arranged in a randomized
complete block design in which the study involved six treatments with
three replications, one vine each.
Pruning wood weight, leaf area and total leaf chlorophyll were significantly
increased by spraying either GA3, humic acid, selenium, turmeric or roselle extracts
compared to water sprayed ones (control). Spraying humic acid, turmeric
or selenium were very effective on improving vegetative growth, yield/vine, and
cluster traits. Moreover, these treatments significantly improved the berry quality
in terms of increasing the berry weight, total soluble solids, reducing sugars of
berries compared to unsprayed ones. The best results were obtained on the vines
that sprayed with 0.1% humic acid or turmeric extract. No significant differences
were obtained among humic acid turmeric or selenium spraying. It could be concluded
that spraying humic turmeric or selenium at 0.1% three times annually
was necessary to get high yield with good cluster and berry quality of Thompson
Seedless grapevines. Moreover, such treatments more effective to overcome the
adverse effect of using GA3 i.e. delay the berry ripening and reducing full coloration
of colored cultivars.

                  ا   ييدف هذا البحث التعرف علي اسباب تناقص مساحات القطن من وجهة نظر المزارعين والعاملين بالمراكز             االارشادية والخبراء بالاضافة الي وضع الحلول المتوقعة والتعرف علي  مااذا كانااهناك دور واضح  للارشد الزراعي التغلب عليها،وبلغ حجم العينة 220 مزارعا،هذا بالاضافة الي 50 فردا من العاملين بالمراكز الارشادية  باربعة        مراكز في المحافظةوكانت اهم النتائج تتمثل فب انخفاض سعر بيع قنطار القطن،وقلة الكمية المسوقة منه،ثم عدم الاعلان عن سعر بيع المحصول،وارتفاع تكاليف الري وتاخر استنباط اصناف جديدةعالية الانتاج،وكانت اهم المقترحات هي زيادة سعر البيع  لعلانه قبل الزراعة،وعودة الدورة الزراعية وتدخل الدولة في هذا المجالواعادة فتح المحالج،والزراعة التعقدية،وعمل ندوات ارشادية مكثفة للمحصول

الفجوة التكنولوجية المعرفية للعاملين بالارشاد الزراعي في محافظة اسوان في مجال انتاج محصول الذرة الشامية

Research Abstract

يستهدف هذا البحث بصورة رئيسية دراسة الفجوة التكنولوجية المعرفية للعاملين بالارشاد الزراعي في محافظة اسوان في مجال عمليات انتاج محصول الذرة الشاميةويتم دراسة هذا الهدف من خلال تحديد الاهمية النسبية لموضوعات الاحتياج التدريبي للمرشدين الزراعيين في مجال انتاج محصول الذرة الشامية لسد الفجوة التكنولوجية لديهم ،وتحديد مستوي الاحتياج التدريبي التكنولوجي المعرفي لهم ،والعلاقة بين كل من مستوي الاحتياج التدريبي التكنولوجي المعرفي والمتغيرات المستقة المدروسة وهي السن والمؤهل الدراسي والتخصص الدراسي ومدة الخدمة بالعمل الزراعي وبالعمل الارشادي  والتدريب الارشادي العام والتدريب في مجال محصول الذرة الشامية.

ولقد اجري هذا البحث علي جميع العاملين بالارشاد الزراعي بالمحافظة حيث بلغ عددهم 120 عاملا ،وذلك عن طريق استبيان بالمقابلة الشخصية،واتضح من النتائج ارتفاع سنوات السن للعاملين وان معظمهم حاصلين علي مؤهل عالي وان اكثر من النصف حاصلين علي تخصصات غير ارشادية وان 78%منهم لديهم عدد سنوات خبرة منخفضة ومتوسطة بالعمل الارشادي،وان 51%فيهم قد حضروا العدد الادني فقط من الدورات التدريبية في الارشاد الزراعي وف مجال المحصول ولقد اشار العاملون بالارشاد لمجال التسميد علي انه اكثر المجالات اهمية يليه كمية التقاوي،وان الغالبية العظمي منهم قد تمزوا باتساع الفجوة التكنولوجية المعرفية في جميع العمليات الزراعية الخاصة بالمحصول مما يشير الي شدة احتياجاتهم التدريبية المعرفية ،وانوان كل من السن ومدة الخدمة بالعمل الارشادي  ووالزراعي ،وعدد الدورات التدريبية الارشادية وفي مجال المحصول ،وكذلك المؤها الدراسي قد اثرت معنويا عند مستوي معنوية 1% في المتغير التابع وهو درجة الاحتياج التدريبي المعرفي لهم في مجال انتاج المحصول.
