Faculty of Pharmacy Council (meeting number 634, held on 22/9/2016 and extended to 28/9/2016) approved the registration of Pharmacist/ Ahmed Gamal Hamdan - Demonstrator in Pharmacology Department, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University - to obtain the Master Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacology). Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, met Dr Abdullah Saleh Ba-Abeer, Vice president of Hadramout for Academic Affairs. During the visit, both sides activated the agreement held between the two universities and follow up the process of education and living conditions of Yemeni students studying at Assiut University. Dr. Ba-Abeer asserted the value of Egypt among Arab Countries due to its great history and civilization. In the meeting, the Yemeni Vice President called for Egyptians to take good care of their country and beware the surrounding conspiracies and risky plots.

 In its celebration of the October Victory, Assiut University held an honorary festival which was attended by Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, University President, War-Staff General Sharif Seif El-din, Commander of the Southern Military Region, Prof. Essam Zanaty, Vice President for Education and Students Affairs, General Amr Ali Al-Shazly, Chief, Organization and Administration Section, Southern Military Region, and a number of leaders and Officers of the Region. Dr. Essam Zanaty stated that the festival is held on this occasion to honor and recognize the role of the military forces, their great national effort throughout the past years as a strong shield defending the country and the people. The ceremonial proceedings included granting the Commander the University's Memorial Plate in addition to honoring a number of leaders and officers of the region.    

Assiut University held the first successful training course in the Middle East on detailed Pelvis and Hip Arthroscopy conducted through a "Wet Lab" workshop organized by the Arthroscopic Unit, University Hospital. Dr. Hatem Galal Zaki, Prof. of Orthopedics, and chairman of the Training course indicated that this sort of training courses is of paramount importance and magnificent benefits for physicians.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis met a delegation of Russian Students from the Russian Pyatigorsk University at the beginning of their two-month-academic visit to Assiut University to study Arabic and the history of Islamic Culture. Dr. Gaeis assured the depth and history of the Egyptian-Russian relationships on both formal and peoples levels. Similarly, he assured the strong academic ties relating both Assiut, and the Russian Pyatigorsk and Dagestan Universities. He also assured that this visit represents a clear message of security and stability of Egypt to the Russian as well as the entire world.

Engineers Syndicate in Cairo announced the winning best graduation project submitted by Engineering students of Assiut University. The project was entitled: "Designing a River platform for a Tourist Resort on the Eastern Bank of the Nile." The project was submitted by students: Ahmed Yehia Othman and Islam Abdul-Gaber. This occasion was arranged at the location of the Engineering Syndicate in Cairo in the presence of HE Prof. Mohammed Abdul-Aaty, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, and HE Prof. Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing and Urban Utilities. Winning students were granted the Coat of Arms designed for the competition.

  Dr Anwar Saeed Shahawy Professor of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, Assiut University participated in the eighth European International Conference on Chemistry in the Czech Republic. Dr Shahawy's study has been devoted to "Cancer Treatment with Negative Ions without surgical intervention. An example of the medication suggested is Carboxylic Ibuprofen.

In his opening speech for the First Scientific symposium held on the inauguration of the Centre for Adults Education, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University assured that illiteracy is one of the factors that threaten the advancement and development of countries. He added that it is much more dangerous than poverty and asserted that it is only through knowledge and science that communities can oppose all problems and obstacles hindering the advancement process. The attendees included Dr. Omar M. Hamza, Chairman of the executive authority for illiteracy eradication and adult education, Dr. Moheb Al-Rafeey, former Minister of Education, Dr. Adel Rasmy Hammad, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Ahmed H. Abdul-Moteiy, Director of the Centre for Adult Education, and a large number of Faculty members from different Egyptian Universities, and other officials from the civilian community institutions.  

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University announced the commencement of the proceedings of the First Scientific Forum for innovators and inventors. The forum will be held by the Faculty of Science on the 16th -17th November 2016, and it will be attended by a large number of prospective inventors and innovators, in addition to faculty members and specialist in similar concerns. Dr. Hasan Al-Hawary, Dean of the Faculty of Science, indicated that the aim of the forum is the discussion and scientific evaluation of the submitted projects and providing consultations to the distinguished inventions for improvements and developments, in addition to ushering them to obtain technical and financial sponsors to build the initial frames of the inventions and register patents from the authorities concerned for the approved inventions.
