Dr. Abbas Mansour, President of South Valley University Issued a resolution of appointing Dr. Shehata Ghareeb Sholkami, Professor and Head of Civil Law Department, Faculty of Law, Assiut University, as Dean of the Faculty of Law, South Valley University.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President announced the renewal of the Certificate of Accreditation granted to the Faculty of Science by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education. The Faculty of Science is thus the second Faculty to gain renewal of the Accreditation Certificate while it has even been the first Faculty of Science nationwide to gain Accreditation in June 2011.

Researcher Mohamed Samy Al-Kadi, Assistant Lecturer, Archaeology Department, Faculty of Arts, Assiut University, won the Consultant Mohamed Shawqi Al-Fangary's Prize for best the best research that serves Egypt. The research done by Al-Kadi was entitled: "Towards a Strategy for Tourism Marketing and the Culture of Dealing with Tourists." The Prize is usually organized annually by the Sector for Community Service and Environment Development, Cairo University. This Prize id intended for researcher of different age categories aiming at encouraging scholarship and research work which develop fields such as Education, Health, Unemployment, Water, Energy, and Random Areas (Slums) development. The Prize is sponsored by benevolent endowment of the late Consultant Mohamed Shawqi Al-Fangary.

Assiut University graduate Yemeni student, Abdel-Salam Qasem Ali Amer defended his PhD Dissertation on "Contemporary Electronic Means of Evidence and their Validity in Civil and Commercial Claims: A Comparative Study." Defence Committee included Dr. Mohamed Saad Khalifa, Prof. of Civil Law and Ex-Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Saber Mohamed Sayed, Prof. of Civil Law and Dean of the Faculty Law and Legislation, Al-Azhar University, and Dr. Shehata Ghareeb Sholkamy, Prof. of Civil Law and Chairman of the department of Civil Law, Faculty of Law. The study handled the treatment of the electronic means of evidence and their liability in civil and commercial dealings. The researcher surveyed the historic and legal development of means of evidence. He also commented the concepts, elements, types, and liability as a basic plea for obtaining legal rights.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, assured that the university is keen on the development of its educational programs to comply with the requirement of the demands of the age so that graduate may be able to compete in labor market. Therefore, the university offers a number of programs including a newly implemented program in the Faculty of Medicine; a program which allows new students to study integrated medicine which relates between the basic information and the clinical study. This program intended to start in 2017/2018. Dr. Essam Zanati, Vice president for Education and Students Affairs, stated that the university already offers a number of programs such as: English Translation Program offered at the Faculty of Arts; Commerce in English offered by the Faculty of Commerce; and Legal Studies in English offered by the Faculty of Law. He added that these programs require English Language score as the priority is given to the highest score and payment of fees.

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, Dr. Mansour Al-Mansi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts opened an art exhibition including the works of artist Amany Zidan Abdulla, Associate Professor of Sculpture, Faculty of Fine Arts.

In an attempt to facilitate all procedures for its International students, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, indicated that the university has already taken a number of new steps in all stages of graduate admission at all university Faculties. This comes out of the university keenness to provide all means of support and educational, social, and health care for its students from the various Arab Countries.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President stated that another delegation of Assiut University Students arrived after the end of the tour to Pyatigorsk University, Russia. He added that the tour aimed at offering the students a chance to know and learn about Russian culture and language; a matter that the university achieves via its cultural and scientific cooperation with various Arab and International universities.
