Assiut University President Announces News of A New Oncology Hospital At Al-Beisary District On An Area of 10000 Sq Meters

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President announced the university resolution concerning the establishment of a new oncology hospital at Al-Beisary District on an area of 10000 (ten thousand) square meters in front of the university campus. The announcement came as the president opened the third communal forum of South Egypt Cancer Institute, as part of the proceedings of the Institute's 9th annual conference. The conference was attended by a large number of participants from the universities of Minia, Cairo, Ain Shams, Alexandria and Mansoura; and the American Madison Waster Reserve University, and a number of renowned experts from 57357 Hospital.

Assiut the Capital Which Has Never Been A Cultural Lecture Shedding Light on the Archaeological and Historical Status of the Province

On the occasion of its celebrations after the passing of 60 years after the establishment of Assiut University, its president, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis attended the first activity; a lecture entitled "Assiut, the Capital which has Never been." The lecture aimed at focusing on the archaeological and historical status of the province. The lecture was given by Professor Yokhem Kal, Dean of the Archaeological Institute, Berlin University, and Chairman of the Joint Egyptian-German Mission for Excavation. The lecture was attended by a number of faculty members from the Departments of Archaeology from different Egyptian universities, representatives from the Archaeology Administration, and large number of archaeology students, Faculties of Arts, Specific Education, and Fine Arts.

Joint Protocol Signed between the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Computers and Information

A new protocol for cooperation was signed between the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Computers and Information. The protocol was signed by Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal, Assiut University Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Assiut University Hospitals for the Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Adel Abul-Magd, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information. Dr. Al-Gammal stated that this cooperation protocol aims at maximizing the mutual benefits from the facilities of both sides and added that according to the protocol, the Faculty of Computers will undertake the design and applications of a number of software programs for a network-system for a number of the university hospitals including: Women Health Hospital, Urology Hospital, and Neuro-Psychic Sciences Hospital.

Assiut University President meets the Dean of Civilization and Archaeology, Berlin University

In his meeting with the Dean of Civilization and Archaeology Institute, Berlin University, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis asserted that the university in very much interested in providing all scientific facilities demanded to contribute to the development of Assiut province and the entire Upper Egyptian Region. The president's meeting was also attended by eight German scholars, representing the Egyptian-German mission for archaeological excavation in the Western Assiut Mountain, Dr. Wagdy Refaat, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Dr. Hosam El-Din Mostafa, lecturer of Arts Education, Dr. Magdy Elwan, Chairman of the Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts, Eng. Khaled Abu-Zeid, Director of Monuments Restoration Directorate, and Eng. Neiazy Mostafa, Chairman, Dept. of monuments restoration in Assiut. The university president expressed his aspiration to have Assiut regained to the tourist map of Egypt as it has its distinct history and a large number of important tourist landmarks.

In his follow-up visit to some faculties on the first day of the new academic year, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis asserted that all efforts must be done in collaboration to facilitate all official procedures for the students. His visit included Faculties of Education, Fine Arts, Science, Agriculture, Sports Education, Medicine, Vet. Medicine, Pharmacy, Computers and Information, Dentistry, and Engineering. He was accompanied by his Vice Presidents: Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Latif, Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development and Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. The Company was received by Faculty Deans and Vice Deans. The President said he was highly impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment of all people; students, faculty members and staff.

Assiut University President Participates with the University Students While they Salute the Flag and Sing the Republic Anthem on the First Day of the New Academic Year 2017-2018

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, participated with a huge number of university students as they lined to salute the flag and sing the national anthem of the republic. The president was accompanied by his vice presidents, faculty deans, faculty members, and staff. In honor of the event, several memorial photos were taken. In this consideration, the president stated that this action will be a new official tradition to be celebrated in all universities to enforce the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the nation.

Commencement of Operating Three New Endoscopic Units at South Egypt Cancer Institute

Dr. Mostafa Al-Sharqawy, Dean of South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut University stated that three new endoscopic units have already started operation to raise the level of medical service and meet the needs of huge numbers of patients arriving from various upper Egyptian governments. Dr. Sharqawy indicated that the new units included: one surgical endoscopy costing LE. 2.600.000 (two million six hundred thousand Egyptian Pounds); diagnostic endoscopy unit costing LE. 1.500.000 (one million and five hundred thousand Egyptian Pounds); and urological endoscopy unit costing LE. 150.000 (hundred and fifty thousand Egyptian Pound)

In one of 12 parallel Sessions of the Sixth Annual Conference of Integrated Medicine: Yoga is Used in the Treatment of Chronic Diseases

Dr. Suzan Salama, Prof. and Chair of Chest Diseases Department, Assiut University and Conference Chair, stated that the conference aims at discussing the various chronic diseases and their interrelations among departments. In 12 parallel sessions discussing Liver Cirrhosis and its treatment, Rheumatism and Joint Pains, Obesity and its influence on the body, Obesity Surgery. Dr. Salama added that, this year, for the first time, there were scientific lectures on the use of yoga exercise in the treatment of chronic diseases. Besides, the conference sessions focused on the effect of chronic diseases on teeth, chewing and swallowing.

In Cooperation with the American University in Cairo (AUC), Assiut University Offers Grants for Training its Hospitals Staff on Fighting Infection, Hospital Management, and Comprehensive Quality

Assiut University started the opening proceedings of the training grants offered to the hospitals staff on fighting infection, hospital management, comprehensive quality. These grants are offered by the university in collaboration with the National Bank of Egypt. Dr. Hebatullah Rashed, professor of Clinical Pathology, Faculty of medicine stated that the grants aim at training 34 participants including 25 physicians and nurses to be trained on fighting infection, in addition 8 participants on comprehensive quality medical care, and one participant on hospital management.
