Accompanied by Dr. Essam Zanati, Vice-President for Education and Students Affairs, and Dr. Amany Al-Shahid, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, visited the Students' Hospital to follow cases of patients. The visit included the Dialysis Unit and the major surgeries room. The president stated that the students hospitals is under maintenance and renewal of all floors and will devote the third floor for private fees service provided to Faculty Members. This floor includes 12 rooms and a suite in addition to waiting halls for guests.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President visited the Medical Unit in the Students' Hospital to check the process of Medical exams of students who are newly admitted at the University faculties. The number of new students reached around twenty thousand students. Dr. Essam Zanati, Vice-President for Education and Students' Affairs, Dr. Azza Mahmoud Ezz El-Din, Head of Clinical Patholody Department, Faculty of Medicine, and Dr. Amany Al-Shahid, Hospital Director, also attended the process of the exams.

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Adel Abulmagd, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, Researcher Mohamed Sayed Baqly defended his Master's Thesis on "Efficient Query in Handling Large-Sized Space and Time Data."

Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal, Assiut University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of University Hospitals Board of Directors, announced the success of the treatment of a case; first of its kind in Upper Egypt. The patient was a female aging 33 years and had an acute chronic clot. The medical team managed to implement an international catheter without surgery. The clot dissolved within 48 hours. This asserts the distinctive service provided by the University Hospitals.

Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal, Assiut University Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of the Hospitals Board of Directors, announced the success of the Department of Ophthalmology in a corneal transplant surgery. For the first time, the costs of this surgery were sponsored by the state, and it has been performed in part of the efforts of the University administration, headed by Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, to legalize the process of establishing an ophthalmology bank in Assiut University for the service of Upper Egyptian patients.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, stated that the Urinary and Kidney Hospital has successfully accomplished 20 kidney transplants; a matter that asserts the distinguished medical services provided by the university.

Dr. Alaa El-Din Abdel-Hamid, Professor and Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and Director of Women's Health Hospital, stated that an agreement has been signed between the hospital and Al-Hilal Firm for Medical Supplies aiming at constructing and preparing a unit for instructing and training physicians on operating the up-to-date ultra-sonic apparatuses. This is achieved through the University's plan to update its medical services for all patients of Upper Egyptian provinces.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, stated that Assiut University will participate in the development of the Leaders Preparation Institute, Helwan, together with a number of Egyptian Universities. The development process will be administered under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Dr. Tayeia Abdel-Latif, Minister's Consultant for Students Activities.

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, issued a resolution appointing Dr. Mansour Ibrahim Abdel-Hady Al-Mansi, Professor Emeritus of Fine Arts, as Supervising Dean until a new Dean nominated.

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, Dr. Adel Abulmagd Sweisy, Dean of the Faculty of Computers and Information, Assiut University, and Dr. Taiseer Hasan Abdel-Hameed, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Project Manager indicated that the Faculty of Computers and Information, Assiut University participates in the International Summer School on the application of technology on Biodiversity Informatics.
