The Governor of Assiut and the University President sign a cooperation protocol to announce the technology transfer unit at the university as an industrial developer for the region

Signing a protocol of cooperation between Assiut governate and Assiut University, General Gamal Nour El Din Mohamed Zaki, Governor of Assiut, emphasized that Assiut has vast areas as well as economic and industrial potentials that qualify it to be a distinct industrial area in Upper Egypt. The protocol aims to coordinate the joint cooperation between the two parties and the announcement of the integrated technology transfer unit as an industrial developer of the region. Concerning the details of the protocol, Dr. Wael Kheir Eldeen said that, in the next period, both the governorate and the university will deepen their cooperation in the field of developing the industrial zones, establishing and equipping the industrial complexes, marketing the industrial projects to the investors, taking the role of the industrial developer of the industrial zones in the governorate, and establishing plans of industrial complexes according to the natural resources of the governorate and surrounding areas, and the technology required to increase the added value of natural resources and products.

Assiut University launches the second practical day of the Department of Chest Diseases in cooperation with the department of diagnostic radiology in the presence of the pioneers of medical work in the fields of chest and radiology

Today Assiut University has witnessed the launching of the second scientific day of the Department of Chest Diseases in the Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. The day, entitled "What is New in Radiology Techniques for Chest Diseases," was organized under the auspices of Prof. Tarek El-Gammal, President of the University, in the presence of the Faculty members at both departments. Dr. Jamal Rabie pointed out that the scientific day is a confirmation of the continuous cooperation between the chest department and the other departments for the continuous medical education for the young doctors, which is reflected on the health care of patients. He added that the day, which included 6 scientific sessions, focused on the latest special techniques of chest diseases; this was emphasized during 6 scientific sessions. Al-Menshawi meets the Korean delegation to follow up the the joint technological project between Assiut University and Korea University Prof.Dr. Ahmed Al-Menshawi, Vice-President of the University for Scientific Studies and Research, praised the efforts exerted in the framework of the joint project between the Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University and Korea University in South Korea. This is one of the most distinguished and pioneering projects of Assiut University among the Egyptian universities. This came during the meeting between Prof. Ahmed Al-Menshawi and the Korean delegation which included Mrs. Sang. Jo, the second secretary of the Korean Embassy in Egypt on behalf of the Korean Ambassador in Egypt; Mr. Owen O.K., director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Dr. Bill Kuo, Director of the Korean-Egyptian Project, and Eng. Luna Park, a Project Assistant. Dr. Hamza pointed out that the joint project was launched in 2016 and extended for a period of four years with a budget of one million and 600 thousand dollars over four successive phases. The overall aim of the project is to achieve cooperation in the field of electrical and mechanical engineering. The project includes training students in a number of industrial buildings, developing a number of the labs at the faculty, supporting graduation projects, supporting and developing industrial movement, and overcoming the obstacles it may face.

Assiut University President Receives Delegation of North China Electric Power University to Sign Agreement on Cooperation in New and Renewable Energy

Assiut University President has received a delegation from North China Electric Power University; the delegation included Prof. Shao G., dean of the School of Nuclear Science and Engineering; Prof. Hui Yu, vice-dean of the School of Electric and Electronic Engineering; Prof. Xyr Xahu, vice-dean of the International Institute of Education. During this meeting, a cooperation agreement in the field of “supporting and developing scientific cooperation in the field of new and renewable energy ", was signed between the two sides in the presence of Dr. Nubi Mohammed Hassan, dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Assiut University. Dr. Nubi Hassan revealed that the delegation visited the laboratories of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, followed by the visit of the delegation to the new and renewable energy projects in the management of air conditioners and coolers, as well as the rapid modeling laboratory and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Korean laboratories, which include “PC laboratory, high pressure laboratory, AC laboratory, and Robotics."

Princess Dina Marad, President of the International Union Against Cancer, called on all Arab governments to impose taxes on smoking, selling cigarettes, and tobacco, and to allocate their revenues to spend on the exerted efforts to fight cancer. She stressed on the dangers of smoking as a principal factor of cancer, pointing to the high proportion of people with tumors in the Arab region which has reached up to 70%. This came during her participation in the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Oncology, organized by the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University in Luxor, which lasted for 3 consecutive days, under the chairmanship of Dr. Samir Shehata Professor of Oncology and President of the Conference.

Assiut University president witnesses the opening of the Fifth International Workshop of Thoracic Surgery and praises the great medical breakthrough witnessed by the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery

Dr. Tarek El Gammal, President of Assiut University, emphasized that the university is witnessing a major surge in the medical services provided by its university hospitals. This came during his participation in the opening of the proceedings of the Fifth International Surgical Thoracic Surgery Workshop, which was organized by the Chest Surgery Unit at the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. The workshop, entitled "Chest Surgery from the Stone Age to the Space Age" with the slogan "Butterfly," lasted for two days, in the presence of distinguished professors of heart and chest surgery from the universities of China, England, Turkey, Greece, Mansoura, Alexandria, Ain Shams and Assiut as well as 70 trainees from Spain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and various governorates of Egypt.

The Prime Minister announces his appointment of Prof. Tarek El Gammal as a member of the Supreme Authority for Upper Egypt Development

Dr.Moustafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, announced the selection of Prof. Tarek El Gammal, President of Assiut University, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Supreme Authority for Upper Egypt Development, under the chairmanship of Major-General Sami Hassan Mansour Al-Shinawi. The Board, extending for three years, includes a number of representatives of ministries and concerned bodies. Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal expressed his pride in the membership of the Board which is appointed under Law No. 157 of 2018 issued by President Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi and approved by the House of Representatives. The board aims to reflect the insistence of the political leadership in improving the standards of living for more than 40 million citizens in the various governorates of Upper Egypt and striving to develop the level of services provided to them. Dr. Tarek Al-Gamal stressed on his keenness to cooperate and participate actively with all the members of the Authority in order to achieve the task entrusted to it and which aims at developing a plan to accelerate the achievement of the comprehensive development of Upper Egypt with the participation of its people within the framework of the General Plan for Economic and Social Development of the State.

During the launch of the second annual conference of the pharmacists of the university hospitals, El-Gammal emphasizes the vital role of the pharmacist in the providing health care

Assiut University President, Prof. Dr. Tarek El-Gammal, emphasized the university's keenness to provide all possible support and overcome the obstacles that may face pharmacists in university hospitals, praising the pharmacist's role in the vital health service inside the hospitals as well as his/her clinical role in giving the appropriate treatment, which reflects the noble role of the pharmacist in medical care that matches the role of the physician, in addition to the pharmacist's role in the development and innovation of the pharmaceutical industry to relieve the pain of patients . This came during the opening of the Second Annual Conference of Pharmacists of University Hospitals. The conference, entitled "Improving the health of the patient and what the pharmacist needs to know," was organized by Assiut University Hospitals in cooperation with the South Egypt Cancer Institute, under the auspices of General Gamal Nour El Din Mohamed Zaki, governor of Assiut ; Eng. Abdel-Aal deputy governor; Dr. Sami Abdul Rahman , Dean of the South Egypt Cancer Institute; Dr. Hassan Abdel Latif , Vice chairman of university hospitals; Dr. Abdel – Aleem, chairman of the Central administration of medical and therapeutic affairs of the main hospital; Dr. Mohamed Zain, Vice-Chancellor for Health Affairs Directorate in Assiut; Dr. Alaa Arafat, head of the Egyptian Pharmacists Syndicate in Assiut; Dr. Siham Abdul Latif , President of the Conference, as well as the participation of a group of faculty members at the Faculty of Pharmacy and a number of pharmacists from the university hospitals, the Institute of South Egypt Cancer, and the hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health.

He also called on all students of faculties of computer science and information students at Egyptian universities to keep pace with technological advances and technology.
