يتناول البحث حركة الخزف المعاصر والأستفادة منة بما يتفق وثقافتنا ويكون له دور فعال في قضية تعزيز الانتماء القومي وتأكيد الهوية المصرية داخل الحركة التشكيلية المعاصرة . وجدير بالذكر أن نشير إلى أن مصر كانت من أعرق الدول وأكثرها تميزاً بطابعها القومي. وعرفت بأنها مهد الفنون. ولقد نال فن الخزف قسطاً كبيراً من العناية في عهودها المختلفة . فأنتجت من وحي البيئة والتراث أروع ما ميز فنونها. ذلك مما حافظ على ملامح هويتها عبر العصور المختلفة، رغم ما مرت به من صراعات وحروب ووجود ثقافات دخيلة عليها. أما منذ منتصف القرن العشرين فنحن نواجه تيارات فكرية وثقافية وفنية في قمة الخطورة عل هويتنا العربية ، فهي تكاد أن تجرف أمامها الكثير من خصوصيات الشعوب وتفكك الروابط القومية. وهي ما تسمى بـ "التعددية الثقافية" و "العولمة" و"نظرية التحديث". وهنا تكمن الخطورة، حيث ظهرت على الأفق تيارات واتجاهات فنية مصرية تنادي بالأخذ بالأساليب المعاصرة والتأثر بالحركات الغربية الحديثة. وإنه لمما يلفت النظر ويبعث على الدهشة أن ينصرف بعض الخزافين المصريين المعاصرين عن معطيات التراث بما يتضمنه من قيم فنية وتشكيلية. في نفس الوقت الذي نجد فيه باحثي الغرب وعلمائه متعطشين إلى معرفة الكثير منه مما جعلهم يسعون إلى دراسة التراث والتعمق في جذوره ليأخذوا منه دفعاتهم الانطلاقة إلى التجديد. وهذا لا يعني أن الباحثة تهدف إلى معارضة هذه التيارات الحديثة أو الوقوف ضد التيار فلا يستطيع أحد أن ينكر أهمية التحديث لمواكبة التغيرات العالمية، إذ أننا بالفعل نتعامل مع العالم المعاصر ككل وأن هناك وعي يزداد بأهمية معرفة وجهات النظر بين الشعوب والثقافات المختلفة. وهنا يكمن حل المعادلة الصعبة. إذ ترى الباحثة أنه من الممكن أن نتقبل اكتشافات القرن الحادي والعشرين بما يتفق مع ثقافتنا ويساعد على تأكيد هويتنا العربية المصرية كجزء لا يتجزأ من صورة عالمنا المعاصر.
