The Biological Activity of Illicium verum (Star Anise) on Lernaea cyprinacea-Infested Carassius auratus (Goldfish): In Vivo Study

Research Abstract

Lernaea cyprinacea infestation is considered a serious economic problem in the fish market. An assessment to control this parasite is needed to manage this problem. The Illicium verum oil extract has considerable antioxidant activity and scavenges 96.22% of free radicals; the high antioxidant activity refers to the phenolic content presence. The extract contains minerals, especially K, fibers, and dry matter. So, the Illicium verum ingredients were tested against this copepod for in vitro and in vivo investigation with the assessment of the treatment trial using a scanning electron microscope and evaluating the change in different immunological genes in goldfish. Female parasitic L. cyprinacea worms were blackish and hairy. The in vitro study on L. cyprinacea adults using star anise revealed that the LC50 was 12.5 and 25 μg/mL for 2 and 1 h exposure periods, respectively. Interleukin (IL-1β) and IL-6 were grossly upregulated in C. auratus-infested skin by L. cyprinacea after treatment by 1 week, then declined after 3 weeks. In contrast, TNF-α was 18 folds upregulated in the first week after treatment, with a decline after 3 weeks. In conclusion, star anise is recommended as a safe and economical agent for controlling L. cyprinacea infestation in fish.

The immune responses of Oreochromis niloticus against Prohemistomum vivax encysted metacercariae infection with the evaluation of different biomarkers stressors

Research Abstract

This study aimed at evaluating the immunological status of Oreochromis niloticus (O. niloticus); so, a total of 120 O. niloticus were collected from different farms located in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate in Egypt during the period from January 2021 to January 2022. The fish were surveyed for commonly encysted metacercariae present in different organs such as gills, spleen, liver, kidney, and muscles. The collected encysted metacercariae were of the family Cyathocotylidae (Prohemistomum vivax) with a prevalence of 25%. A novel adaptive synchronization algorithm for a general class of fractional-order complex-valued systems with unknown parameters, and applications to circuit realization and color image encryption

Research Abstract

This article proposes an adaptive synchronization (AS) algorithm to synchronize a general class of fractional-order complex-valued systems with completely unknown parameters, which may appear in physical and engineering problems. The analytical and theoretical concepts of the algorithm rely on the mathematical framework of the Mittag-Leffler global stability of fractional-order systems. A specific control system is established analytically based on the fractional-order adaptive laws of parameters, and the corresponding numerical results are executed to verify the accuracy of the AS algorithm. The proposed synchronization method is evaluated using the fractional-order complex Rabinovich system as an attractive example. The electronic circuits of the new system with different fractional orders are designed. By utilizing the Multisim electronic workbench software, various chaotic/hyperchaotic behaviors have been observed, and a good agreement is found between the numerical results and experimental simulation. In addition, the approximation of the transfer function for different fractional-order are presented. And the corresponding resistor and capacitor values in the chain ship model (CSM) are estimated, which can be utilized in designing electronic circuits for other fractional-order systems. Furthermore, two strategies for encrypting color images are proposed using the AS algorithm and fractional-order adaptive laws of parameters. In the first strategy, the color image is treated as a single package and divided into two vectors. The first vector is embedded into transmitter parameters, while the second vector is injected into the transmitter state signals. In the second strategy, the primary RGB channel components of the original color image are extracted and separated into two vectors, and the same process is followed as in the first strategy. These strategies complicate the decryption task for intruders. Complex Rayleigh–van-der-Pol–Duffing Oscillators: Dynamics, Phase, Antiphase Synchronization, and Image Encryption

Research Abstract

: This paper introduces the complex Rayleigh–van-der- Pol–Duffing oscillators (RVDOs), which are hyperchaotic and can be autonomous or nonautonomous. The fundamental dynamics of the autonomous and nonautonomous complex RVDOs, including dissipation, symmetry, fixed points, and stability, are studied. These oscillators are found in various necessary fields of physics and engineering. The paper proposes a scheme to achieve phase synchronization (PS) and antiphase synchronization (APS) for different dimensional models. These kinds of synchronization are considered a generalization of several other types of synchronization. We use the active control method based on Lyapunov’s stability theory for this scheme. By analytically determining the control functions, the scheme achieved PS and APS. Our scheme is applied to study the PS of hyperchaotic behaviors for two distinct hyperchaotic nonautonomous and autonomous complex RVDOs. Additionally, the scheme is employed to achieve the APS of a chaotic real nonautonomous RVDO and a hyperchaotic complex autonomous RVDO, including those with different dimensions. Our work presents numerical results that plot the amplitudes and phases of these hyperchaotic behaviors, demonstrating the achievement of the PS and APS. The encryption and decryption of grayscale images are researched based on APS. The experimental results of image encryption and decryption are computed with information entropy, visual analysis, and histograms.

Orogenic lode-gold deposits and listvenization processes in the El-Barramiya area, Eastern Desert, Egypt

Research Abstract

Gold mineralization in the El-Barramiya region of the Eastern Desert, Egypt, is connected to the post-accretionary stage throughout the Central Eastern Desert. It is represented by quartz, quartz-carbonate veins and disseminations in listvenite rocks. The thrust contact between rock units in El-Barramiya area played an imperative part in gold mineralization where the obduction of ophiolitic rocks over the metasediments and metavolcanics caused shear zones. Mineralization in the study area formed along shear zones and the gold mineralization prefers to precipitate along the transition zone between low-grade regional metamorphic area which is represented by metasediments and high grade which is represented by actinolite schist. Gold mineralization lode of El-Barramiya gold mine area is situated in EW trending quartz and quartz-carbonate veins along a shear zone located in the intersections between faults trend in NE-SW (Najd fault), NW-SE and thrust faults trend in NEE-SWW in metavolcanic and metasedimentary host rocks. Porphyry granite in the mine area played an important role in hydrothermal alteration process where it represents the source of K, listvenite formed when fluids rich in CO 2 and bearing-K permeate and alter the previously altered ultramafic rocks, usually serpentinites of the ophiolitic mélange rocks. Listvenitization process includes silicification and carbonatization metasomatic processes, tectonized serpentinites are altered to listvenite as the carbonatization becomes more intense close to dipping transpressive faults.
