A National Project to Declare Assiut University Free of Hepatitis B & C by 2020

Dr. Saad Zaki, professor at the department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, announced the approval of the university council … adopting the proposed project of Dr. Esmat Kehayla. This project aims at declaring Assiut University free of Hepatitis B and C by 2012. Dr. Esmat explained that this project aims to perform a comprehensive survey for about 170 thousand persons, including Staff members, employees, and students of Assiut University as a primary stage of early examination. This survey is to be done to make sure they are free of any Hepatitis. In case a person is found to be carrying the virus, the project will provide treatment.

An American Physician gives three scientific lectures and observes around 15 traumatic cases during his visit to Assiut University

Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie, President of Assiut University, welcomed Dr. Daniel Forest, professor of Inpatient and General Anesthesiology at the Faculty of Medicine, California University (USA), during his visit to the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Assiut. Dr. Forest's visit took about four days, during which he gave three lectures about what is new in the field of aesthesis and rehabilitation. He also observed about 15 patients suffering from traumatic diseases.

A memorandum of understanding between Assiut University and the Nigerian University of Sokoto

The University Council agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the university and the university of Sokoto State (Nigeria). This memorandum, which aims at establishing a framework for the cooperation between the two universities in the fields of science, technology and humanities, is valid for five years.

Assiut University increases the skills of learning French for the students and faculty members in collaboration with the Library of Alexandria

Today Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie, President of Assiut University, met Dr. Marwa AlSahn, director of the Center of Francophone activities at the Library of Alexandria; Dr. Shaima al-Sharif, coordinator of the Francophone programs and activities at the Center; and Dr. Noha Abdul Aziz, a lecturer of French literature at the Faculty of Arts, Assiut University, deputy director of the Center for French Language Studies and coordinator of the Protocol. The protocol is based on the provision of training opportunities for students and faculty members from the Faculties of Arts and Education at Assiut University. The training is to take place in 5 days in the center of the Francophone activities at the Library of Alexandria.

Assiut University Celebrates the Science Festival

Yesterday, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie (University President), the Vice-Presidents, the deans of the faculties, the Secretary General of the university, a number of faculty members and students, Assiut University witnessed the ceremony of the Science Festival for the academic year 2013/2014 and the day of loyalty to leaders who contributed to the outstanding university performance. During this ceremony, Dr, Mustafa Kamal, former president of the university, nine former deans, 43 faculty members, a former employee and 21 students have been honored..

A researcher at Assiut University wins Sharjah Prize of Literature about the historical transformations in the library of AL-Azhar mosque

The researcher Mohammad Sami Adli Ibrahim AlQady, assistant lecturer at the Department of Islamic Archaeology, Faculty of Arts, Assiut University won the third place of the Sharjah Prize for literature. His research is entitled: "historical shifts in the library of Al-Azhar mosque since the Fatimid era to the modern era".
