Mohammed Said Mahfouz Discusses the Role of Youth in the Development of the Media Scene at Assiut University

Assiut University held a seminar on "Youth and the development of the Media scene". The seminar was organized by the Information and Mass Media Department, Faculty of Arts, under the auspices of Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samiea, president of the university, and Dr. Yusuf Ahmed Gad Alrab, Dean of the Faculty of Arts. The keynote speakers were Dr. Mohammed Saeed Mahfouz, Broadcaster at CBC Channels and Dr. Mohammed Saeed al-Shuaibi, head of Taiz University in Yemen. Dr. Mahfouz addressed the youth of media department at the University of Assiut, and stressed upon needed for diligence, weighing their talents and developing their skills, which would enable them to compete in the labor market and capture the right opportunity in various media platforms, whether television or press.

A Meeting between Assiut University and the German Fraunhofer Institute to discuss a strategy for food safety in Egypt

Prof. Dr. Hassan Salah, Vice-President for Community Services and Environmental Affairs, received Dr. Mark Buecking, Head of Department Environmental & Food Analysis Fraunhofer Institute for Molecular Biology and Applied Ecology, Germany, in the presence of Dr. Mona Al Tobgy, responsible of the Union in Egypt and North Africa, and Dr. Asmaa Abdel Nasser, Professor of Health Department at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in order to discuss the mechanism of joint work ( Assiut University and Fraunhofer Institute in the field of food quality) and develop a strategy for having safe food. Dr. Buecking expressed the willingness of the German Institute for joint action and cooperation with Assiut University in this area, adding that Upper Egypt represents a favorable environment for working in this field.

A French doctor donates to conduct a number of micro-surgery for children at Children's Hospital in Assiut University

Assiut University has hosted the French doctor, Jean-Michel Guys, head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Marseille, France. Dr. Mohamed Abdul Qadir, head of Pediatric Unit, Assiut University, explained that the visit takes three days, including a number of lectures and corresponding sessions to some cases. He also added that the French doctor, in conjunction with a specialized medical team at the unit of children surgeries at Assiut University Hospital, is to perform a number of critical surgeries for children who suffer from congenital defects on Sunday, March 15.

Commencement of the Day for Fertilizers Industry at the Faculty of Science

In collaboration with the Egyptian Financial and Industrial company, the Faculty of Science organized a day for fertilizers industry. The event was organized under the auspices of Prof. Mohammed Abdel Sameia, Assiut University President, Prof. Hassan Al-Hawaary, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Ahmed Maher Abdel-Baset, Chair of the committee for for Information and Orientation. The event was also attended by Eng. Mohammed Alaa Al-Maghraby, Chair of the Factory Sector, and a number of Chemistry professors, researchers and Science students. The event included an introductory presentation on fertilizers industry, and show area in which there were samples of phosphate fertilizers products and Sulfuric acid. Prof. Hawary indicated that events such as this are planned to be held monthly and will present other industries in various fields, small industries, and drug industries.

Swedish Delegation from Stockholm University Visits Faculty of Education Assiut University

Within the framework of the Tempus Project for the Enhancement of Faculties of Education in the field of International Curricula, Dr. Adel R. El-Nagdy, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Assiut University met the Swedish delegation representing Stockholm University. The delegation of the Swedish University included Prof Vinayagum Chinapah, Dean if International Education, and Faculty members from Stockholm University including Dr. Lara Peter, Dr. Melinda Getti, and Dr. Maymouna Abdel-Sattar. The meeting asserted the importance of relating theoretical education to practical application and the activation of realistic instructional  practices. Likewise, it assured the impact of these processes on the demand to change or amend current bylaws to comply with the education status. The meeting also handled the activation of a lively and truthful partnership between the College (University) and the school during any process. In addition to this the meeting encouraged sending junior staff travel abroad to lean and exchange new experiences, and transfer whatever they learn to their university. Furthermore, the meeting commended intensive and continuous training for teachers to develop their performance and enhance their skills to help them solve their school problems. Also, it emphasized the use modern technology in teaching to prepare a qualified teacher capable of competition in labor market. It also ensured the activation of more avenues for community service and support to solve its problems and develop its cadres. The meeting also assured the continuous work for proposing plans to obtain competitive projects and funds from European countries participating in the project.

Celebrating Assiut University students Winning Advanced Ranks and Prizes During the Youth Week for University Dorms and Hostels 2015 in Sohag

In honor of its students, Assiut University has held a ceremony for students winning advanced ranks in the competitions of the Youth Week for University dorms in Sohag. The festival os organized by the general administration for university hostels and dorms, Youth Care Division, Assiut University. Assiut University students have reaped 49 medals (gold, silver and bronze), including 37 gold medal in chess competitions for female students, table tennis for female students, information contest , short story writing, long leap, beach volleyball, football for female students, pushing the wheel, Gallery of Fine Arts . Besides, they won 3 more silver medals and 9 bronze ones in competitions of Essay writing, Karate, Volleyball, weight lifting.

Assiut University President Meets Student Delegation from Russian Universities of Dagestan and Pyatigorsk

        Today, Prof. Mohammed Abdel Samiea Eid, President of Assiut University met a delegation of students from the Russian Universities of Dagestan and Pyatigorsk. The meeting was attended by Dr. Salah Abul-Hawa, General Coordinator of the relations between Assiut University and the Universities of Commonwealth countries, and Supervisor of The Assiut University Centre for Russian Language. The meeting is part of the visit paid by the delegation to Assiut University for a short-term study of Arabic Language and Islamic History and Culture for two months. The delegation includes 24 students and a number of supervisors. This visit is the sixth for students from Pyatigorsk University and the 16th for those from Dagestan University. Within the framework of the agreements between the Assiut University and the Russian Universities, there will be programs for teaching Russian Language for about 100 learners from faculty members and students. The program of the delegation visit includes visits to some tourist places in Egypt.

Assiut University Hospital Succeeds in the Use of a New Technique in Minute Brain Surgery

  Headed by Dr. Mustafa Hashem, Professor of Interventional Radiology, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, a medical team has successfully done a minute brain surgery done at the University Hospital to 63-year-old woman from Minya. The patient was suffering from a bleeding arterial fistula in the brain which forms a risk to the patient's life. Dr. Hashim stated that this surgery is considered a new accomplishment in the treatment of bleeding problems in brain arteries. He also indicated that the team relied on using a new technique applying Squid substance to close the fistula; a process which is the latest developed devise which also requires the highest skill during the surgery. In addition to this, he notified that this type of surgeries has been done in Cairo University by a joint medical team of Egyptians and foreigners, but this time, it is performed by an entirely Egyptian team from radiology, anesthesiology, and intensive care departments at Assiut University Hospital.
