Today Assiut University has witnessed the end of the ceremony of the course for the students of the Russian Pyatigorsk and Dagestan Universities, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Abdou Gaees, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Adel Ryan, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Salah Abu Hawa, the supervisor of the Russian language center, and Dr. Karam Abdel Naeem, coordinator of student activities, in the framework of the visit of the Russian delegation to Assiut University to spend a period of about two months to study Arabic and learn about history and Islamic civilization . Dr. Abu al-Hawa explained that the delegation includes 24 students, along with a number of supervisors. The visit also included sessions for about 100 members of the faculty members and students who wished to learn the Russian language.

Assiut University yesterday witnessed the opening of the proceedings of The first scientific conference of Children Cancer entitled "The New in the diagnosis and treatment of Wilms tumor", organized by the Department of Children's Cancer at the South Egypt Cancer Institute. The conference, consisting of 12 sessions, discusses a number of scientific themes, dealing with: Epidemiology and congenital syndrome in Wilms tumor, new radiation diagnosis, Wilms' tumor pathology, radiation therapy, as well as partial eradication of the kidney versus the eradication of Wilms tumor "Standards and results." It is worth mentioning that the conference saw the honoring of a number of professors by giving them the University Shield.

The Council of Assiut University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie, of the proposed model of a memorandum of understanding for scientific and cultural cooperation between the University and the University of Islamic Sciences, Islamic Republic of Mauritania. The memorandum is valid for a period of three years starting from the date of signature. It also included cooperation between the two parties in the field of long and short exchange of visits between the two sides as well as the exchange of invitations to seminars, conferences and various activities and publications.

The Grand Celebrations Hall at Cairo University witnessed the closing ceremony of "Ibda'" competition, which was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sport in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education. The ceremony took place in the presence of Eng. Khaled Abdel Aziz (the minster of Youth and Sport), General Mohsen AbdelNabi, and Ali Elshemily (vice-ambassador of Emirates).   Dr. Ryan has announced that the University of Assiut, participated by about 83 students since the beginning of the first phase of the competition, which resulted in winning a number of awards in the field of arts. Mohammed Ahmed Osman, a student at the Faculty of Commerce, won a cash prize of 10 thousand pounds in the field of composition; the University team won the second position in the field of folklore with a cash prize of 50 thousand pounds; Mohamed Sooky Abdel Gelil, a student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, won a cash prize of six thousand pounds in the field of poetry.  In addition, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Badari, director of folk arts, won the prize of two thousand pounds as the best designer.

The "Student Life Makers" team at the University of Assiut organized a Forum for vocational guidance and the need of the labor market, under the title of "Path" under the auspices of Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie President of the University, and Dr. Adel Ryan Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Karam Abdel Naem, the coordinator of student activities. Dr. Karam explained that the forum aims to help the university student make the appropriate decision concerning their future career. Thus, a number of lectures (Professional Planning, How to Market Yourself, Labor Market) were held. Besides, a forum was made especially for the students of the Faculty of Education, to guide them towards the required skills they need to perform their jobs. It is noteworthy that 1.500 student participated in the forum.  

Assiut University has witnessed today the launching of the proceedings of the Scientific Conference of the Industrial Kidney Unit. This conference, entitled "The Continuing medical education in the science of kidney disease", is organized by the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Assiut in conjunction with the Egyptian Society of Nephrology. In the opening speech of the conference Dr. Hassan Salah announced that the Assiut University Hospital is about to perform the first operation for kidney transplant.
