Initial Memorandum of Understanding Signed
Between Assiut University and King Faisal University, Chad

In collaboration with the universities of the Moslem World League of, the Conference on "The Role of Media in Countering Terrorism" was held in Assiut universities from 3-6 March. In his side-talks during the conference, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University, met Dr. Abdullah Bakhit Saleh, President of King Faisal University, Republic of Chad, and signed a memo of understanding between the two universities aiming at empowering and documenting joint academic work, exchange of scientific expertise and visits, and holding joint international forums and conferences. Besides, the agreement included joint supervision of Master's and PhD dissertations and co-publishing of scientific research of faculty members of both universities in international journals.

International Conference on "The Role of Media in Countering Terrorism"

The Centre for Future Studies, Assiut University organized a conference on "The Role of Media in Countering Terrorism" and hosted the General Secretary of the Moslem World League, the Egyptian Minister of Awqaf (Endowments), and Assiut Governor. During the Conference, the speeches included the following: Secretary General of the Muslim World League: Egypt has prestigious role and its efforts in fighting terrorism achieve security and stability for our Islamic Nation. Minister of Awqaf: Inquires a fight against intruders and assures that Egypt is approaching an era of renaissance that best suits its status. Assiut Governor: The Media must be committed to objectivity so that we avoid falling as a prey to terrorism.

With More Than 70-Child-Participant, Assiut University Celebrates Festival of "The Art of Child-Drawing"

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University, the Faculty of Specific Education, Assiut University has inaugurated the proceedings of the third edition of the Festival of "The Art of Child-Drawing." The event has been organized and attended by Dr. Mansour Al Mansy, Dean of the Faculty, the Vice Deans, Dr. Karam Abdul-Naeem, coordinator of students' activities, Dr. Iman Abdulla, student activities coordinator, and a number of Faculty members, Directors and Supervisors from various schools and kindergartens. Dr. Iman Abdullah indicated that more than 70 children from 10 primary schools and kindergartens have participated in the festival which included several programs of singing, music, and entertainment. The festival concluded by granting honorary awards and souvenirs to some of the participating schools.

Assiut University President Meets World Bank Delegation

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis,  President of Assiut University meets a delegation from the World Bank in Egypt. The delegation includes Dr. Assad Al-Aalem,  Director of Qatar World Bank, the Arab states of Djibouti, Yemen, and Egypt in addition to Dr. Gustavo De Marco,  Chair of Human Development Sector and Dr. Nahla Zaytoun Alquisny, Foreign Relations and Communication Officer. The visit is part of the delegation visit to inaugurate a number of projects in Assiut Province.

Spanish Expert of Thoracic Surgery, Diego Gonzalez in Assiut University

Dr. Ahmed El Menshawy, Chairman of of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, announced the arrival of Diego Gonzalez, Chairman of the Unit for limited intervention in Chest Surgeries, University of Corona, Spain. Dr. Gonzalez is one of the most reputable world chest surgeons and medical specialists. The visit started with a workshop on Endoscopic Chest surgeries. The entire event is hosted under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President and Dr. Tarek A. Al Gammal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of Board of Directors, Assiut University Hospitals.

Assiut University Research Team Announces the Formation of a New Catalyst for Industrial Purposes

A Research team from Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Assiut University has succeeded in the oxidation of Methyl Alcohol to Formaldehyde by 97%. This new success has been declared in the Scientific Forum organized by the Centre for Environmental Studies under the title: "Nanomaterials for sustainable Development" under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University in collaboration with the German Habmldot Foudation.
