Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie, president of Assiut University, has recently returned from his visit to the Kingdom of Jordan, to participate in a meeting of Arab Universities Association. The meeting was held in Amman, Jordan, headed by Dr. Sultan Abu Orabi, Secretary-General of the Federation, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafat Mahmoud, Assistant Secretary of the Union.   Prof. Dr. Abdel Samie praised the important role played by the Association of Arab Universities in extending the bonds of cooperation and joint action among Arab universities in the fields of science and research, especially that the Union consists of more than 130 Arab Universities from about 22 Arab countries. This facilitates the exchange of information and experiences between Arab scientists in order to achieve the advancement of the level of higher education in the Arab world.

The Council of Assiut University Council headed by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie agreed to the memorandum of understanding between the Department of Information and Mass Media, Faculty of Arts, and the Academy of Deutsche Welle.  Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdo gais, vice President for graduate studies and research, declared that this agreement is valid for two years. Dr. Omaima Omran, head of the information and mass media department at the Faculty of Arts, declared that the Convention aims to develop mechanisms for scientific and cultural cooperation between the two parties, to open channels for cooperation and communication with the alumni in the labour market, and to develop the workshops and joint scientific projects with emphasis upon the local press.

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samie, University President and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Raafat Elsokarry, General Manager of University hospitals and Prof. Dr. Samir Shehata, head of the Department of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, Prof. Dr. Hassan Salah, Vice President of the Community Service and Environmental Development, opened the Clinical Pharmacy Unit at the Assiut University Hospital. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hassan Salah announced that the unit has been fully established and equipped with the latest medical equipments and in accordance with the international standards, and that it is fully dependent on monetary donations, which reached 350 thousand pounds          

Today, Assiut University has witnessed the opening of  the second workshop among the program of the political edification of the upper Egypt university students entitled "National State: Opportunities and Challenges", organized by the Centre for Future Studies in cooperation with the Regional Centre for Strategic Studies in Cairo. The two-day workshop focused on  a number of topics that dealt with the rights of Egypt in the Nile water, the modern national state and the challenges of survival, the Egyptian economy, modern Egyptian history, and the Egyptian-American relations after the revolution of June 30.

A delegate of students at Assiut University participated in the Sixth environmental forum of Arab Youth, which took place at the Arab League headquarter, under the title of "The Nile as a Path of Cooperation rather than struggle on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the High Dam".          

The Youth Welfare Administration at Assiut University organized a workshop was to select the distinguished talents in preparation for participation in the Innovation Competition (3). This competition has been organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and the participation of a large number of public and private universities for the third consecutive year. Eighty three students from various colleges passed the workshop, and were thus chosen to represent the university in the competition,.
