In Presence of the Grand Mufti of the Republic and Outstanding gyptian and Arab Figures, Assiut University Launches its Wide ampaign for Supporting the 2020 University Oncology Hospital

Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President announced the start of the campaign the university intends to launch for the support in establishing the 2020 university oncology hospital. The event was attended by Eng. Yasser El-Dessouki, Assiut Governor, and Dr. Shawky Allam, the Grand Mufti of Egypt. The event coincides with the celebration of the World Day for Cancer. Dr. Gaeis clarified that the campaign aims at calling all authorities, governmental institutions, and Egyptian and Arab civil communities to participate in supporting the execution of the project. It is noteworthy that the project has been approved by the university council to be established on an area of ten thousand square metres. It will help meet the accelerating demand of patients who seek treatment at the South Egypt Cancer Institute and the Oncology Department, Faculty of Medicine.

Assiut University President Honors a Female Researcher from Assiut University Being One of the Egyptian Research Team at Mansoura University who Discovered the Remains of the Dinosaur

In his meeting with the Assiut University researcher, Sara Saber, and the presence of Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal Vice President for Grduate Studies and Research, Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, asserted the importance of the scientific discovery announced lately by Mansoura University. The discovery involved the remains of a dinosaur fossil dating back to about 70 million years. This is the first discovery of its kind to be made in Africa and the world by an Egyptian research team and therefore it was hailed by all countries of the world. Dr Gaeis stated that the participation of Sara Saber, Assistant Lecturer, Geology Department is definitely an honor to Assiut University whose distinguished graduates will resume the research interests of their professors in all fields, and enrich the scientific and research endeavors in all fields nationwide.

Teaching physics course to middle-class students in Arabic or English starting next year

The Board of the Faculty of Engineering was presented with a briefing by the Committee on Education and Student Affairs on the speech of Mr. A. Dr./Chairman of the Council of Physics Department-Faculty of Science on teaching physics to students of the Preparatory Division in Arabic or English, starting with the next semester. The Committee recommends that the rapporteur be taught in Arabic, with the beginning of next year hopefully 2018/2019. Resolution: The Council approved the decision of the Committee on Education and Student affairs.

Postponement of the hosting of the 20th International Conference of Electric Power Systems (MEPCON20)

The Board of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Committee on Cultural Relations was presented with the approval of the application of Mr. A. Dr. Mohammed Kamel Al-Sharbini and Mr. A. D./Mazen Mohamed Shafiq Abdel Salam on the postponement of the hosting of the 20th International Conference of Power Systems Mepcon20 for 2019 m instead of 2018 from 18 to 20/12/2019 until the necessary approvals are obtained for the Conference.
