Al-Gammal Announces New Cooperation between South Egypt Cancer Institute and the Faculty of Pharmacy for the Development of Cancer Medications

Assiut University Vice President Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal asserted that the university shows strong interest in supporting the scientific and medical effort exerted at the South Egypt Cancer Institute (SECI) and facilitating all difficulties to develop the medical and treatment service which mounted to high recovery ratios of more than 40 thousand cancer patients in Upper Egypt annually. The SECI has been also recognized by the certificate of accreditation obtained from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE). The SECI has become the first Institute nationwide that grants Master's and Doctorate Degrees. Besides, the success more than 13 marrow transplantation surgeries makes the environment suitable for the development of cancer medication in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy.

American Purdue University Delegation Visits Assiut University to Discuss Means of Cooperation between the Two Universities

Assiut University received a representative academic delegation from the American Purdue University and the International Education Institution. The visit of the delegation was for the purpose of discussing possible means of cooperation between the two universities and funding projects in fields such as agriculture, water, and energy. Vice President for Community Service and Environment development, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Latif held a meeting with the delegation in which he asserted the University's tendency to keep strong ties with as many world universities as possible. This will improve the scientific research environment and encourage successful exchange of expertise among universities.

Assiut University Signs A Memorandum of Understanding for Cultural and Scientific Cooperation with Irish
Limerick University

Assiut University President, Ahmed A. Gaeis stated that the University Council has approved the Memo of understanding between Assiut University and Limerick University, Ireland. The Memo aims at supporting and developing means of scientific and cultural cooperation between the two universities. The agreement will include exchange of recent information about research, educational programs, and other related fields. It also includes exchange of visits from and to both universities.

The Director of the University Hospital For urinary and Kidney Surgery Trained on Kidney Transplantation at German Martin
Luther University

Dr Hisham Mokhtar Hammouda, Director of the University Hospital for Urinary and Kidney Surgeries, came back from his visit to Martin Luther University in Germany. Dr. Hammouda visited the German University to renew joint cooperation agreements between Assiut University and Martin Luther University in the field of Urinary and Kidney Surgeries. Dr, Hammouda announced that he has received intensive training in Germany on the most recent methods of Kidney transplantation and how a surgeon may remotely perform this surgery even if he is away from the country in which the surgery is being done. This technique is distinctive of Martin Luther being one of only five medical centers worldwide.

In his visit to Al-Orman University Hospital for Cardiology, Assiut University President, Ahmed A. Gaeis, assured that Assiut University Hospitals provide distinguished medical service, and that Al-Orman Center is indeed one of the most advanced centers that serve Cardic patients with its complex surgeries. In his visit, the President accompanied Dr. Aleksandr Pavlovich Gorbunov, President of Pyatigorsk University who expressed his admiration of all that he noticed in the hospital; advanced medical facilities, human cadres of high-level training and skills enabling them to conduct very critical and most complex surgeries.

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, the scientific forum entitled "Scholarship and Opportunity," was launched. The forum was organized by the scientific committee of the Assiut University Students' Union, in collaboration with the general administration of Youth Care and Starter Team, Beni Suef University. Student Mohamed Al-Khateeb, Vice chair of the students Union stated that the forum aims at informing students about the possible choices for obtaining and selection of awards and scholarships, and how can they increase their opportunities and qualify themselves for the labor market.

In Celebration of the Science Day with Assiut University, the Minister of Higher Education Lays the Foundation Stone to Inaugurate the Establishment Work of the New 2020 University Oncology Hospital Project

Minister of Higher Education, Dr Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, has placed the honorary memorial stone to inaugurate the project of establishing an new university hospitals for the treatment of Tumors. On his part, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University has indicated that the hospital is intended to be built and equipped according to the most recent world medical systems to suffice the ever increasing numbers of patients which exceed 40 thousand patients annually. He added that the University has specified an area of about 10 thousands square meters for the project.
