Assiut University President, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, announced the University's honorary celebration of its pioneers and award-winning Faculty members who obtained State and University Awards in the last two years. The celebration took place on the Science Day and the presence of HE Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, and a host of Governorate Executive, Security, and Popular leaders, together with the members of the University Council, Faculty Deans and Faculty members.

Assiut University President, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis, headed a delegation from Assiut University to participate in the proceedings of the National Conference for Scientific Research organized by the Ministry of Higher Education under the auspices of President Abdel-Fattah Al Sisi, Eng. Sherif Ismail, Prime Minister, Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education, and a host of Ministers and representatives from different Egyptian Universities. Dr. Gaeis asserted that the university is keen on participation in this significant meeting which focuses on important issues concerning the priorities of scientific research in Egypt within the framework of the National strategy and the Egyptian vision of the sustainable development 2030. He also esteemed the efforts and support of the Republic President to the scientific research movement, development of educational programs offered by Egyptian Universities to cope with the demands and requirements of development in the coming phase.

In his meeting with the professors and pioneers of the Chest Department, Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis assured that Assiut University does its best to support the entire medical system and renew all University Hospitals. The meeting included honorary recognition of the efforts of the university president, the vice-presidents, and the hospitals' administration for their distinct support for the medical system in general and the Chest department in particular; a matter that helped in maximizing the medical care provided to the patients and the development of treatment methods.

Assiut University President, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis met Dr. Faisal Al-Omary, Chairman of the Graphic and Décor Department, Philadelphia University, Jordan to honor Dr. Gaeis and hand him the Philadelphia University Coat of Arms. Dr. Mansour Al-Mansi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Assiut University, and Dr. Noha Al-Mufti, Lecturer, Faculty of Fine Arts, attended the meeting. In the meeting, Dr. Gaeis welcomed any means of cooperation between Assiut University and all Arab Universities in general, and the Jordanian Universities in particular for the very specific and close ties that relate between the universities. These ties include various sorts of cooperation, presence in most scientific events and activities organized by the Association of Arab Universities (AArU) located at Zarqa University, Jordan.

In his participation of the opening proceedings of the 11th conference held by the department of Internal medicine, Dr Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President assured that the medical system of the University hospitals has undertaken a remarkable development both in the medical services provided to the patients and in the field of academia and research. Dr Lobna Ettouny stated that conference aims at recognizing the basics of diagnosis and treatment of endocrine and diabetes. It also aims at improving doctors' efficiency in the application of the most recent medical systems, side by side with the presentations of the latest technologies and research developments in the treatment of diabetes as it is one of the most spreading epidemic diseases.

Assiut University President opened the unit for the physiology of the nervous system and a new ward for private treatment on the 5th floor at the neurological hospital. The president was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Abdul- Latif, Vice President for Community Service, Dr. Tarek Al-Gammal, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr Ahmed Al-Menshawi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of Board of Directors, and Dr Iman Riad, Department Chair and Hospital Director. Dr Menshawi indicated that the new Unit will be a remarkable addition to the hospital as long as it will help in providing advanced services in diagnostic and treatment fields. He also asserted that the hospital is the most recognized among similar hospitals in Upper Egypt and it hosts a huge number of patients from various Upper Egyptian Provinces annually.
