The Fourth Forum of Egyptian Faculties of Computer and Information Science

 Under the auspices of Prof. Moustafa Mohamed Kamal, President of the University, and Prof. Said Ahmed Ibrahim, the Vice- President for Students Affairs and Education started at Assiut University the activities of Fourth Forum of Egyptian Faculties of Computer and Information Science. In his speech, President of the University stressed the importance of the role of university education in forming Cognitive stock and that understanding is rooted in the culture of our societies and awareness of Egyptian history and civilization, and that the failure to achieve its objectives means failing in the preparation of human resources and so in human development. Prof. Moustafa noted the important role of the students' activities in educational policies to build the personality of university student and to be prepared to meet them in the future and achieve psychological balance and personal development. Prof. Said Ahmed Ibrahim, the Vice-President for Students Affairs and Education declared that Assiut University is distinguished by the interest in student activities and support for establishing Students libraries, pointing out that it would achieve the scientific, cultural and intellectual communication among students in various universities. Prof. Hosni Mohamed Ibrahim, Dean of the Faculty and General Supervisor of the Forum that the forum attended by students from 11 university in Egypt and includes its activities of cultural, sports, social, artistic and scientific, technological competitions and others, as held on the sidelines of the forum a campaign to donate blood for patients with tumors. Prof. Adel Abu al-Majd el Swisy, the Vice- Dean, and General Coordinator of the Forum stated that the main objective of the Forum is to create chance of meeting and communicating among the Egyptian students and to identify their respective capacities.

The 41st Course for Lecturers' Preparation in Assiut University

Prof. Moustafa Kamal, the President of Assiut University inaugurated the activities of the 41st Course for Lecturers' Preparation in Assiut University and take the period of 10-19/4/2010. Prof. Salah El Dein Al Sherif, the Dean of Faculty of Education declared that the faculty organizes the course periodically and aims to provide the participants with the needed basic skills for teaching missions through three cores. The First core is Theoretical Lectures, and includes minimized teaching, Targets of University Education, and the Cognitive Psychology & its Applications. The Second is Scientific Symposiums and dealing with the Characteristics of the University Lecturer, Estimating the University Performance, and the Curricula of Scientific research. The Third Core is Discussing Circles that includes many topics in that field. Prof. Emam Moustafa, the secretary of the course added that 47 of the demonstrators, and assistant-lecturers of different faculties participate in the course.

A Protest March against the Judaization of Al-Aqsa Mosque

   At the opening ceremony of the Third Cultural Meeting for the Revival of our Beautiful Arabic Language, Assiut University organized A protest march against the Judaization of Al-Aqsa Mosque under the slogan "Al-Aqsa is in our hearts". Students from 14 Egyptian universities participated in the march holding signs that demanded the international community to intervene in preventing the Judaization of the Islamic sacred places in Palestine. In his word, Prof. Mustafa Kamal, the university president, considered this event a symbol gift for the holy land of Jerusalem and for its history, and support for its resistance. On his part, Prof. Said Ibrahim, the university vice-president, said that choosing Jerusalem as a Capital of Arabic culture this year represents a stand in the face of repression and killing policy, and a message of civilization and authenticity to the whole world.

The Closure Ceremony of Individual Seminars Series

  The closure ceremony of the students' individual seminars series was held at Assiut University under the sponsorship of Prof Mustafa Kamal, president of the University. This year there were 15 seminars, which discussed various subjects such as The Unregistered Marriage, The Future Leader, Genetic Modified Food, Media and Sectarian Sedition', How Do You Make Your Future?, The Right Rules of Studying and Students' Health, Unemployment, Volunteer Work, and The Population Problem. Prof. Said Ibrahim, university vice-president and the general supervisor on the seminars, stated that Assiut University is distinguished in the students' activities, and that the idea of this seminars series depended on testing the students' choice as well as their treatment of the subjects, and the style of competing and leading the seminars. The first three winners were (in order) faculties of Engineering 'Media and Sectarian Sedition', Nursing 'How Do You Make Your Future?', and Agriculture 'Genetic Modified Food'.

Law and Health The Sixth Scientific Conference for Faculty of Law

  Assiut University organized the sixth scientific conference for faculty of Law from 31\3-1\4\2010 under the title "Law and Health". Prof. Hamad Mustafa Azab, the reporter of the conference, stated that the conference discussed throughout two days a number of basic subjects such as "health in the lights of Islamic Law", "the State's responsibility of health care", "the role of civil society organizations in protecting health rights", "the lawful sides of reproduction health", and the lawful sides of: planting human organs and the medical artificial substitutions. The participants included members of teaching staff in faculties of Law, Islamic Law, Medicine, Pharmacology, and Nursing in both the Egyptian and the Arabian Universities. Members of judicial institutions and representatives of governmental as well as non-governmental organizations working in the fields of human rights and environmental issues also participated in the conference.

The Clinical Meeting of Egyptian Orthopedic Association

Using computers and the internet, and the problems that faces the orthopedic department doctors were the main subjects discussed by 250 participants during the clinical meeting of Egyptian Orthopedic association and the orthopedic department, faculty of medicine, Assiut University. The meeting included four scientific sessions, which discussed the clinical problems, the up-to-dates in spine surgeries, joint replacement, and microscopic surgeries. On the other hand, it included two workshops; the first one discussed Poneseti technique in club foot, while the second centered on the subject" Computers in Orthopedic".

The Third Assembly for Reviving Our Beautiful Language In Assiut University

 Assiut University organizes the Third Assembly for Reviving Our Beautiful Language, Under the Slogan of "By Manifested Arab Tongue" with participation of 20 of Egyptian Universities under the auspices of Prof. Hany Helal, the Minister of Higher Education and State for Scientific Research , and Prof. Moustafa Kamal the President of the university. The President of the university declared that the assembly aims to confirm for the Egyptian students on the importance of the language in keeping on the nations' cultural identity, revive our beautiful Arab language, and connect the new generations with the mother language in facing the different threatens. Prof. Said Ahmed Ibrahim, the Vice-President for the Students Affairs and Education added that the assembly includes number of competitions in the Holy Quran and Sunna of the Prophet: the Criticism, poetry, and short novel. Beside the assembly, the University organizes a campaign, entitled with "Al Aqsa in Our Hearts", which is a symbolic stance aims to deep the values of Arab belonging to the Arab students in a peaceful and well arranged manner expressing the Egyptian students refusing the Israeli crimes against Al Aqsa Mosque.

American Medical Team in Assiut University

 Assiut University hosts these days an American medical team consists of Prof. William Tofic as a chief and 17 doctors and nursing staff members. Prof. Ahmed Al-Menshawy, chief of Chest and Cardiac Surgery Unit at the university children hospital, states that a medical team from Assiut University participates with the American one throughout ten days in performing 16 surgeries for children suffering from complicated heart diseases. Prof. Samya Atwa, hospital manager, affirms that this American team visits the unit twice a year on the basis of the cooperation between the unit and the university on one side and the Universal Association of Children Hearts on the other side.

Cinematic Art Workshops at Assiut University

Under the auspices of Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Chairman of the University and Dr. Said Ahmed Ibrahim, Vice President for Education and Students affairs held in the Faculty of Specific Education, cinematic art workshops and film nights for young people in accordance to the protocol of cooperation signed between the University of Assiut, and the General Authority of Culture Palaces in order to activate their cooperation and support cultural awareness among students University and interested members of the faculty staff members. The workshop begins in the first phase teaching Motion Picture Arts by photographing archaeological sites and tourism places all over 5 days, followed by the second phase which offers movie nights for 3 days with the participation of about 30 trainees, said Dr. Mohammed Salah Al-Din Yousif supervisor of the college.

Celebrating 10 Years Since the Establishment of the National Council for Women

Within the framework of celebrations of International Women's Day the National Council for Women in Assiut celebrates 10 years of its existence under the auspices of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak, headed by Major General Nabil El Ezabi Governor of Assiut, the axes of the conference goes around the legislative guarantees of women's work in the Egyptian society between consideration and application, and the reality of the development of single parent women in Assiut , political participation of women in Assiut, with a review of the most important achievements of the council. At the end of the conference has been honored a number of prominent personalities in the areas of support for the role of the National Council of Women in Assiut, and women's issues are Dr. Nadia Halim, director of social and criminal research programs, Dr. Gamal Abdel-Motaal Chairman of Businessmen's Association, Dr. Galal Zaki head of the Childhood and Development Association, Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Ferial Saleh, the former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and the artist Shirin and Tariq Dessouky.
