Surgical affections of the Teeth in Donkeys of south Egypt

Research Abstract
Different congenital dental abnormalities and affections were recorded in 50 donkeys in south Egypt. The most common condition encountered were sharp enamel points, diastasis dentium, projections of cheek teeth and dental tartar.

Urethral Obstruction in Rams (Experimental study). II- Clinicopathological Picture

Research Abstract
The urethra of four rams were completely occluded to study the possible biochemical changes of blood and blood serum following this operation. Samples were collected before and at every 12 hours post-operation (P.0) till death. Necropsy was performed and vital organs were examined histopathologically. The study revealed: 1. Progressive increase of B.U.N., B.N.P.N., serum creatinine, potassium and inorga¬nic phosphorus levels. The increase was proportional to the time elapsed post operation. 2. Changes in serum sodium levels were not significant. 3. Characterstic lesions of uraemia were observed macro and microscopically.

Some histological and Morphometrical Studies of the Extraocular Muscles in Dog

Research Abstract
The study of the histomorphological features of the extraocular muscles in the dog showed that, the thickness and length, of the muscle bundles as well as the histomorphological features of these muscles is not the same. The C.T. capsule and C.T. septa within the muscle, are also variable

Congenital Sacral Deformity, Taillessness and Atresia ani in a Calf

Research Abstract
A number of inherited congenital defects of bones and joints, such as epiphysitis, achondroplastic dwarfism, osteopetrosis, and incomplete development of limbs, taillessness and tail deformities have been reported. However, we could not locate any reports of sacral deformity, taillessness and atresia ani occur¬ring in the same animal. A 2-day-old male Holstein was presented because it had no anus. Physical examination revealed a cleft between the 2 ossa coxarum instead of a sacrum. The animal also lacked a tail (Fig 1). Radiographs reveal¬ed a rudimentary sacrum and no coccygeal vertebrae (Fig 2). The pelvic inlet had a foamy appearance from retained feces and gas in the rectum associated with atresia ani. After sedation with xylazine and infiltration of the area with a local anesthetic, rectostomy was perform¬ed to correct the atresia ani. The animal recovered without complications.

Surgical Anatomy of the Lens in Different Domestic Animals

Research Abstract
Twenty eyes were collected fresh and immediately fixed in 10 °/o formalin for a morphologic study of the relationship of the lens to the overall all anatomy of the eye in 11 different species of domestic animals. Relationships between the weight, volume, axis length diameter, of the eyeball and the weight and volume of the lens were determined, as well as thickness of the anterior and posterior lens capsules.

A Comparative Study of the Surgical Anatomy of the Tendons of Insertions of the Extrinsic Muscles of the Eyeball in different Domestic Animals.[Eine Vergleichend-anatomische Untersuchung der Sehnenasatze der ausseren Augenumuskeln bei Verschiedenen Hausti

Research Abstract
A study of the length, width, and line of insertion on the eyeball, relative to the limbus was made of the extrinsic eye muscles of 11 domestic animal species. Eyes were collected fresh from abatoir or studied in the gross anatomy dissecting laboratory of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine. A comparison of these species is made regarding the description of the mode of insertion of these muscles.

Ventral-abdominal Hernia at the level of the Penis in a Donkey

Research Abstract
A large swelling of the penis and prepuce in a 5-year-old donkey was observed by inspection. Palpation and a thorough examination revealed a ventro-abdominal hernia at the level of the penis. A surgical correction of the hernia was performed by an incision parallel to the penis and prepuce, respectively. The hernial content with the intact peri¬toneum was reduced, the hernial ring sutured and the skin wound coapted. In this context it should be emphasised that swellings of the penis and prepuce require a more precise differential diagnosis, because such swellings can be misleading (posthitis, balanitis, phimosis, etc.). The diagnosis "ventro-abdominal hernia" has to be established by palpation as well as determination of the hernial ring.

Lumber Epidural Anaesthesia in Buffaloes

Research Abstract
In the present work the technique of lumbar epidural anaesthesia was studied and esta¬blished in buffaloes. The results show that the most reliable seat was the first in¬terarcual space and the most suitable dose was 8 cm of 4% or 10 cm of 3% procaine HcI premedicated by a Rompun in a dose of 0.05 mg/kg bw. The latter gives Satisfactory anaesthesia of the flank for a period of about 65 miautes and the animal remains in the standing position.

Histopathological Changes in Wound Healing of Skin, in the Dogs Undergone Resection of Small Intestine

Research Abstract
Experiments have been done on 30 dogs, which were divided into 3 different groups, according to the percentages of small intestine removed. These percentages were 25%, 50% and 75%. These animals were studied regarding to their serum level of protein, glucose lipids and to its relation to body weight. In this work we studied the healing process of the skin in dogs with small intestine removed in varying percentage. Removal of 25% small intestine did not affect the healing capacity of the wound. While removal of 50% or 75% of intestine, lead to marked delay in wound healing. This delay could be attributed to the defect in the cellular immune mechanism, in the form of defect in the macrophages appearance.
