Training Program for Girls with Hearing Disability about Breast Self- Examination in Assiut City.

Research Abstract

Background: Girls with hearing disability continue to undervalue the practice of breast self-examination, despite Egypt's ever-expanding programs to raise breast cancer awareness. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of the training program for girls with hearing disability about breast self-examination in Assiut City. Research Design: Quantitative research pre/post one group intervention design was applied. Setting: Al-aml school for dumb and deaf girls in Assiut City. Subjects: A convenient sample was used to include 153 adolescent girls with hearing disability. Data collection tools: Two tools were utilized: Tool one: Designed interview questionnaire comprised from three parts: Part (1): Personal data, part (2): Girls’ family history of breast cancer and data about breast self-examination and part (3): Questions to assess knowledge of girls regarding breast cancer and breast self-examination. Tool II: Breast self-examination observational checklist. Results: It noticed from the current results that 46% of girls aged less than 18 years, 90.8% from rural area, 71.9% weren’t know about breast self-examination. The girls’ mean of knowledge and practices regarding breast self-examination was in pre-program 12.28 and 2.26 while it enhanced to be 36.03 and 9.67 with significant improvement after the program application. Conclusion: The training program improved knowledge and practices of breast self-examination among girls with hearing disability. Recommendations: Continuous training program about breast self-examination for girls with special need to increase their awareness regarding early detection of breast cancer.

Relation between Climate Changes, Quality of Life and Psychological Status among Assiut Population: Online Based Survey

Research Abstract

Abstract
The effects of climate change pose significant threats to ecosystems, biodiversity, and the well-being of human populations. Aim: The study aimed to explore the relation between climate changes, quality of life and psychological status among Assiut city population. Setting: The study was conducted at Assiut city by utilizing web-based online survey. The study sample was 1300 as a convenience sample. Five tools were used; the socio-demographic data, Climate Change Anxiety Scale, Climate Change Worry Scale, Self- Efficacy Scale and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Results: There was strong positive correlation between climate change worry and climate change anxiety Scales (r value .838). Moreover, there was also positive correlation between self-efficacy, climate change worry and climate change anxiety scales (r value, .088, .174) respectively. Conclusions & Recommendation: The research outcomes revealed a substantial association between anxiety and worry levels and socio-demographic factors. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a noteworthy correlation between socio-demographic characteristics and overall quality of life which significantly impact individuals' well-being in relation to climate change-induced anxiety and worry. Implementing an educational program on climate change among the population through mass media as a strategy to address the challenges posed by climate change

Barriers to regular antenatal follow up among pregnant women during corona virus pandemic

Research Abstract

Abstract COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the delivery of regular services, which might have an impact on pregnant women's use of antenatal care (ANC). Aim: Assess barriers to regular antenatal follow up among pregnant women during corona virus pandemic Design: Descriptive exploratory cross sectional research design. Setting: The study was carried out at two MCH centers from Assuit city and three villages from Assuit district. Sample: 350 pregnant women. Study tool: A structured interview questionnaire. Results: There was statistically significant difference between urban and rural in relation to distance and transportation problems, lack of income, lack of awareness about ANC& Fear of getting Covid-19 infection with p-value .001, .005, 005 respectively. Conclusion: Fear of getting Covid- 19 infection, distance and transportation problems and lack of income are the most common barriers to irregular attendance of ANC visits duringCovid-9 Pandemic Recommendations: Community awareness campaigns for women regarding importance of antenatal care through various mass media
