Team of physical education faculty won with the 1st place for volleyball, the 1st place for handball, the 3rd place for basketball and 3rd place for football in championship of university , the players won in Weightlifting for university championship of  individual games with some places classified as first, second and third places weights 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg and +94kg And players of elect collage won in boxing for championship of  individual games with 1st and 2nd places weights 60kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg and 91kg.

Prof. Dr. Assem Hussein, Chairman of plastic surgery Department, received a Certificate of Appreciation for the Department due to the activity and achievements of the Department of Plastic Surgery, and it has been honored at the 43th Conference of Egyptian Plastic Surgeons and Reform Foundation which held from October 12nd to February 15th, 2013 in collaboration with the European Foundation of Microscopic Surgery and Turkish Society of Plastic Surgeons

Dr. Hisham Abdel-Rehim Al-Qadi, Professor of Orthopedics, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University and Director of the Arthroscopic and Sports Injuries Unit, Assiut University Hospital, obtained the patent No. 24620 in the medical field from the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. The patent was obtained for devising “An External Fixing Bolt,” a simple and economical set to fix complex fractures relevant to the wounds of the long bones such as: tibia, femur, and humerus. The set has been also registered as patent No EG24620 (A) in the European Patent Office. As soon as it was manufactured and applied successfully on several cases, Dr. Al-Qadi has granted five sets of his newly invented device to the needy patients in the Injuries Unit at Assiut University Hospital.   Dr. Al-Qadi is one of the most distinguished professors in arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries and knee treatment. He has also supervised  45 Masters and Doctorate theses and Dissertation, member of the Committee of Promoting Professors and Associate Professors of Orthopedics, besides an international reputation through his membership in a number of International societies such as the Orthopedics International Society, Arab Orthopedic Association, Middle-Eastern Society for     Laparoscopic Surgery, Knee Injuries, the European Society for Laser and Light Biology, and the International Society of Geography. In addition to this, Dr. Al-Qadi has participated in more than 14 international conferences in Arab and foreign countries such as: KSA, Syria, Morocco, Lebanon, China, India, and the Czech Republic. Dr. Al-Qadi has also stated that he had also obtained another a previous patent from the European Patent Office of the European for his invention of plastic tube to protect the fiber quartz end in the laser tool used in arthroscopic surgeries. This plastic device has been used in several laser endoscopic surgeries. Besides, he had also got a patent for inventing a femoral hook to be used in the patching of the bottom string of the femur in cases of anterior cruciate ligament. This devise has been practically used for more than 34 cases.

The community services and environment development in assiut university in cooperation with Environmenatl studies Center will hold a symposium on Tuesday 10-12-2013 about The Safe Use of Natural Gas in Houses at 10:00 a.m. in the eighth hall in the administration building.

Prof.  Mohammed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University, met Dr. Ziyad Sowaidan general supervisor of  Medical Compounds Projects,  Eng.  Hamad Al-Lahaidan , and Eng. Abdullah Al-Quiby, Directors of a number of Hospital Projects, Ministry of Health, KSA. In their visit to Assiut University, the Saudi guests attended the defense of a Master’s Thesis in Architectural Engineering entitled as “The Role of  Architectural Design in minimizing Infection in Hospitals and Therapeutic Compounds in Egypt.” The thesis is submitted by Mohammed Helmy Al-morsy, Assistant Lecturer of Architectural Engineering, Sohag University, and a designer of a number of Assiut University Hospital projects. The University President held a meeting gathering the Saudi guest and a number of eminent Egyptian professors of Architectural Engineering such as Dr. Magda M. Metwally, Professor, National Centre for Research on Housing and Building, Dr Zakiya H. Shafaeiy, Dr. Omar M. Kamal, professors of Architectural Engineering, Cairo University, and external examiners of the candidate. Dr. Abdel Samiea asserted the significance of the research in relation to the field of development  of hospitals to establish an integrated  health system coping with the modern international standards. This system, the present added, includes proper criteria for architectural finishing and engineering network that fight the spread on infection. Eventually, this will elevate the health quality service provided in Egypt.   on its interest in the search for his role in the development of hospitals, which would create a system of integrated health according to modern international standards which can be achieved by choosing the proper standards for finishing architectural and engineering systems , which operate in the fight against infection which helps in upgrading the quality of medical service provided in Egypt. He further added that the state is in need for scientists and specialists in the field of Medical engineering and planning and their contribution to the design and execution of health projects at the various stages; a process followed in most advanced countries.
