Dr. Mohamed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University held a meeting with a delegation representing Fareed Khamees Foundation for development including Consultant Moatasem Rashed Amin, General Secretary and Dr. Adel Alyamaani, General Coordinator of the initiative. The meeting was held in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Former President of Assiut University and Dr. Ahmed Gaeis, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.   The meeting parties discussed means of cooperation and joint work to elevate the living standards of Upper Egyptian community and population, fight unemployment, and eliminate high poverty rates which categorize Assiut as the most impoverished province in the republic.   Dr Mohammed Abdel Samiea indicated that several ideas have been considered for discussion and proposition of proper mechanisms for implementation. The ideas discussed include creating job opportunities for Upper Egyptian youth, and establishing small and middle projects, in addition to the concern devoted for educational and research domains that push into the country’s progress and promotion.   

Dr. Mohammed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University signed a Memo with  Dr. Abdel-Nabi Mohammed Bouzidi, President of Zaytouna University aiming at mutual cooperation between the two universities in various fields of educational, scientific, and cultural concerns, besides other interests including research and training, exchange of knowledge and experience, joint research to be conducted by the faculty members and the scientific departments.   Additionally, the pact states that Assiut University offers scholarships for  Libyan graduate students nominated by Zaytouna University to obtain Masters and PhD degrees.       The Memo also encourages the achievement of earnest cooperation in practical and applied work including the establishment of production centres, training centres, hospitals, academic and clinical units aiming at introducing national services under the supervision of both universities. This Memo is achieved out of the Assiut University keen concern to establish international relations with Arab and foreign university in all fields.

Accompanied by Prof Mostafa M. Kamal, former President of Assiut University, Prof. Mohamed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University returns from Malaysia after a week-visit within the framework of an agreement between Assiut University and the Malaysian Academy for Quran Sciences.   Prof. Abdel Samiea indicated that the visit  came in   response to an invitation from the Malaysian Side to activate and pursue the agreement between Assiut University and the Malaysian Academy through which the Malaysian Academy grants fellowships for Malaysian students to study at Assiut University. The Program started last year with 19 students to study dentistry and developed this year to include a number of 125 students to enlarge their study domains including Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy.   The University President assured the University’s keen efforts to allow better chances for all Arab and International students to study at Assiut University where the administration provides all possible means for proper quality learning environment and other means that facilitate their stay and study. The President also expressed his delight and satisfaction with the success of the Egyptian-Malaysian cooperation in the scientific and cultural fields particularly because Malaysia is a developed country and this program proves the distinguished quality of Assiut University specially in the Medical Sciences.

Dr. Gamal Mohamed Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Assiut University, declares the Faculty’s winning the votes and right to host the Eleventh International Conference of the International Network of Sport and Health Sciences. A Poll to choose the winning university was held during a conference at the University of Alicante, Spain.  The poll was conducted by Dr. Henrietta Denis, President of the International Network of Sport and Health Sciences and several universities from France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Croatia and Serbia have participated. The Faculty of Physical Education, Assiut University won 10 votes, while the Faculty of Physical Education, Czech Republic won 8 votes. Ten other universities refrained from voting due to their inability to compete.   During the conference, Dr. Gamal made a presentation in which he emphasized the significance of Egyptian Archeology, the role of Assiut University, the status of the faculty of Physical Education, and finally, a note about   the city of Alexandria, the location intended to host the conference, during March 2015.   Expressing his delight and pride, Dr. Gamal indicated that this is the first time for the conference to be held outside Europe in its Eleventh Version. It was  previously held in the countries such as: Bulgaria in 2005; Germany in 2006; Slovenia in 2007;  Austria in 2008;  Wales in 2009; Norway in 2010;  Estonia in 2011; Croatia in 2012; and Greece in 2013; Spain will host the 2014 version. The international network includes 39 universities from 22 countries.

Prof. Mohammed Abdel Samiea, President of Assiut University, inaugurated an art exhibition as one of the activities of the First International Porcelain Workshop porcelain. The occasion was also celebrated by Prof. Adel Rayan, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Mansour Mansi, Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, and the Danish artist Anna Christian.   This exhibition comes as a closing activity of the workshop by the Faculty of Specific Education from Feb. 26 to March 2, 2014. In her participation and training of participants and graduate students, Danish Artist, Anna Christian adopted new applications in sculpture in addition to other techniques in mixing clay substances in various ways to obtain new color effects.   The University President praised the distinguished artistic standard of about 150 artistic pieces being the product introduced. The president reassured the importance of cooperation with artists and specialists all over the world in research and academia so as to communicate with different art schools and introduce the Egyptian civilization throughout the past eras and this will definitely enrich the contemporary artistic movements.
