The number of students applying for the elections of Student Unions of Assiut University, 559 students in 16 colleges since the opening of the nomination, said Dr. Said Ahmed Ibrahim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kamal, the president of Assiut University, issued the following decisions: * The appointment of Dr. Omar Khalil, Professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Faculty of Education, Assiut, dean of the College so that the age pension. * Renewal of the appointment of Dr. Mohammed Abdul-Wahab Abu Nahool, Prof., Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, dean of the College for a period of 3 years. * Renewal of the appointment of Dr. Youssif Mahdi, Prof., Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Computer and Information Science vice-Dean for Graduate Studies and Research for a period of 3 years. * Allow Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Emeritus Prof., Department of Economics and Public Finance, Faculty of Commerce and the supervisor of the Department, to do the work of vice-Dean for Graduate Studies and Research. * The appointment of Dr. Mohammed Abdel-Rahman Al Shanawani, Emeritus Prof., Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, adviser to the University president for the pharmacies of university hospitals. * The appointment of Dr. Tarek Abdel Aziz, Prof., Department of Curriculum and Instruction and Training, Faculty of Physical Education advisor to the University president for student activities and coordinator of student activities. * The appointment of Dr. Etimad Helmy ,Prof., Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine Chairman of the board of the department for a period of 3 years. * The appointment of Dr. Farghaly Abdul Hamid Othman, Prof., Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Chairman of the board of the department so that the age pension. * The appointment of Dr. Hassan Abdel Ghani Daghash Prof., Department of Animal and Poultry Production, Faculty of Agriculture, Chairman of the board of the department so that the age pension. * Renewal of the appointment of Dr. Al Badri Abu Al Noor Prof., Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Medicine as the manager of the main university hospital so that the age of pension. * Do allow Dr.Samah Mohammed Abdullah, Assistant Prof., Department of Nursing Services Administration, Faculty of Nursing act as Chairman of the department for a year. * Deputation of Dr. Mohamed Abd El-Wahab Prof., Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science for the supervision of the Division of Chemical Studies at the Institute of Sugar Studies and Technology.

The U.S. medical team is currently visiting Assiut University, in which a number of surgical operations in the field of children's heart will be hold. Dr. Ahmed Alminshawy professor of cardiac and chest surgery, and head of children’s heart surgery unit at the Children's University Hospital explained that the team headed by Dr. William Novick professor of children heart surgery at the University of Tennessee and President of the Global Foundation of Children Heart in addition to a medical staff consists of 12 specialists in surgery, anesthesia, intensive care, open-heart machine and nursing is scheduled for the working of 16 operations for a number of cases include complex heart defects and children rare surgeries.

Competitive Quality Assurance Projects are now offered for students' participation both in proposal and implementation. These projects are characterized by innovation, seriousness and inclusion of ideas which help in enhancing the system of higher education and continuous improvement. These projects aim at increasing students' participation in the system of higher education development in fields of serving stake holders, and to maximize the benefit from students' capabilities. Funds of 60 competitive projects are offered to all public higher education institutions on the basis of competition among students in the higher education institutions (i.e. Student Unions, Scientific Societies, and Communities...etc.). Decisions will be made according to set and announced rules of evaluation and arbitration.

Assiut University will hold the second international meeting for plastic arts dialogue (south - south) under the title plastic arts between material values and spiritual values at the period 1-3/11/2010, under the auspices of Dr. Mustafa Kamal, President of the University, and Dr. Mohamed Ragab Bayoumi Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, headed by Dr. Abdul Hakam Younis Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education. Dr. Mansour Al Mansy said that the forum aims to enrich the cultural side, and spiritual and intellectual development for the university students, researchers and lovers of culture and the arts, where the forum discusses several topics concerning the role of plastic arts in the movement of the national community and the Arab world, plastic arts between rooting legacies of the people and the preservation of national identity, experimentation in Arab plastic arts, the role of media in the marketing of the culture of plastic arts, the importance of art criticism in the elaboration of the visual vision for the artist and the community. And that’s through a group of artists and researchers of South arts, the participation of business men, managers of Arab and international museums, and a group of critics inside and outside Egypt.

Prof. Moustafa Kamal, the President of Assiut University, issued the following decisions: * Renewing the appointment of Prof. Jamal Ahmed Saleh Abdel-Aal, the Professor of Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry, as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, until the age of pension. * Renewing the of appointment Prof. Abdul Rahman Abdul Basit Madny, the Professor of Health Sciences, as a Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for Education and Student Affairs for the next 3 years. * Renewing the appointment of Prof. Ahmed Salah al-Din Mohamad Qouraa, the Professorof Athletic Training and Movement Sciences, as a Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Education for Graduate Studies and Research for the next 3 years. * Renewing the appointment of Prof. Manal Mohamed Shehata Mohran, the Professor of Histology (Histology and Cell Biology) Faculty of Medicine, as Head of the department. * Appointing of Omar Mohamed Ibrahim, the professor of Sports Management and Leisure, Faculty of Physical Education, as the Head of the department for the next 3 years. * Appointing Prof. Medhat Shawky Tous, the Professor of Athletic Training and Movement Sciences, Faculty of Physical Education, as the Head of the department for the next 3 years. * Delegating Prof. Ahmed Mouhamad Sayid Imam Askar, the Head of the Social Service Department, Faculty of Arabic language, Al-Azhar University- Assiut Branch, as a Supervisor of the Department of Sociology Faculty of Arts, Assiut University.

For the second day, Prof. Moustafa Kamal, the President of Assiut University, had an inspecting tour to find out the regularity of the study at the beginning of the new academic year in all faculties of the university, accompanied by Pro. Said Ahmed Ibrahim, his deputy for Students Affairs and Students. Prof. Moustafa Kamal praised through his tour, the students cares to attend the lectures since the first day. he added that the university administration is keen to follow up executing the previous procedures which included meetings with the deans and their vices and heads of departments of the different faculties before the start of the study including the need to announce the schedules of study, the completion of the maintenance, provision of textbooks, and presence of the staff members. The President of the University called the students during his tours to engage in student activities and change the negative perception in the minds of students toward it and benefit from the support and the great attention paid by the university through her legitimate. He also pointed out that the university has doubled the amount of aid for the students as part of its support for the social dimension through the contribution of Solidarity Fund to pay the academic fees, residence halls or to buy books, calling needy students to take advantage of them also noted that the doors of university leaders are always open, stressing the need to discipline in the study with the educational, ethical and behavioral commitment in the framework of regulations and laws of the faculties

The Council of Assiut University Deans issued number of decisions in the session headed by Prof. Moustafa Kamal, President of the University aims to provide a suitable atmosphere for a successful learning process during the new academic year. Prof. Moustafa called for joining all efforts to promote and activate the mechanisms of the educational process in order to reach the desired level, also called for the necessity for a more assertive strategy about the negative aspects which emerged from the past years.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Mohammed Kamal, Chairman of Assiut University has appointed Prof. Dr. Gamal Mohamed Ali, Department of Sports Management and Leisure, Faculty of Physical Education dean of the faculty for a period of 3 years. Also Issued the Following Decisions: * The appointment of Dr. Osama Mahmoud Habib, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, supervisor on the NMR device, Accurate Analysis Unit. * The appointment of Dr. Magdy Abdel-Gawad Elwan, Assistant Professor, Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts supervises the section.

Prof. Moustafa Kamal, the President of Assiut University decided to grant bonus by month and half for all the university including employer and staff members on the occasion of Lesser Bairam and the start of new school year. Engineer Mahmoud Omar the General Secretary of the University said that this was part of its offering to motivate staff, and sharing them in social and religious events indicating that the university will grant one hundred pounds for all contractors and temporary employees as well.
