COVID-19 Pandemic Fear, Anxiety and Quality of Life among Adolescent Girls with Special Needs

Abstract
Background: The Corona Virus Disease 2019 is a major ongoing concern for the adolescents with disability. Aim: The study aimed to assess the effect of covid-19 pandemic fear, anxiety and quality of life among adolescent girls with special needs. Design: Descriptive cross-sectional study. Setting: The study was conducted at Deaf& dumb and blind schools for girls. A total of 140 deaf & dumb and blind girls were included in the study. Study tools: Three tools were used included; tool 1 (Part 1): Personal characteristics of the adolescent girls with special needs. Tool 1 (Part 2): World Health Organization Quality of Life. Tool 2: The COVID 2019 Fear scale. Tool 3: COVID 2019 anxiety scale. Results: It was found that 90.7% of the girls were from rural area, 85.7% were deaf and dumb and 61.4% of them had secondary education. 67.1% of Adolescent girls with special needs had high quality of life before the pandemic while they had moderate quality of life during. Conclusion: Adolescent girls with special needs had high level of Quality of Life before the pandemic, while difficulties and restrictions during the pandemic negatively affected adolescent Quality of Life. Age, type of disability, parents’ education and occupation were affecting the quality of life domains. Recommendations: It is recommended to conduct training programs for adolescents with disabilities to improve their quality of life.

Environmental Safety, Stress Levels and Gas Stations' Workers' Knowledge, Attitude and Practices Regarding Occupational Health Hazards.

Research Abstract

Abstract
Background: Gas stations have an adverse influence on the environment and workers' health due to the chemicals and physical risks they contain. So, this study aimed to assess environmental safety, stress levels and gas stations' workers' knowledge, attitude and practices regarding occupational health hazards. Subject and Method: Research Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study design. Setting: All gas stations in Assiut City (11stations) that affiliated to Ministry of Petroleum, Egypt Gas Station Directory. Subjects: 140 gas stations' workers. Tools of data collection: Three tools were utilized; Tool (1): A structure interview questionnaire that consisted of five parts; workers' personal data, socio-demographic status assessment scale, knowledge of the occupational health risks associated with gas stations, workers' reported practices and workers' attitude toward occupational health hazards. Tools (2): Assessment of the gas stations' working environment. Tools (3): Assessment of workers' stress levels. Results: It was observed that 54.3% of the workers were from urban area, their mean age ranged from 19.0 to 57.0, 64.3% of them had good knowledge with significant effect with residence, times of work and daily working hours. Also, there was effect of working hours and attainting courses on their reported practices and working times& working hours on workers' stress level. Conclusion: Less than two-thirds of gas stations' workers had high level of knowledge and had positive attitude, more than half of them had unsatisfactory reported practices and approximately two-thirds experienced moderate level of stress. Recommendations: It would be beneficial to establish ongoing training programs for gas stations' workers about occupational health hazards.

Training Program for Girls with Hearing Disability about Breast Self- Examination in Assiut City.

Research Abstract

Background: Girls with hearing disability continue to undervalue the practice of breast self-examination, despite Egypt's ever-expanding programs to raise breast cancer awareness. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of the training program for girls with hearing disability about breast self-examination in Assiut City. Research Design: Quantitative research pre/post one group intervention design was applied. Setting: Al-aml school for dumb and deaf girls in Assiut City. Subjects: A convenient sample was used to include 153 adolescent girls with hearing disability. Data collection tools: Two tools were utilized: Tool one: Designed interview questionnaire comprised from three parts: Part (1): Personal data, part (2): Girls’ family history of breast cancer and data about breast self-examination and part (3): Questions to assess knowledge of girls regarding breast cancer and breast self-examination. Tool II: Breast self-examination observational checklist. Results: It noticed from the current results that 46% of girls aged less than 18 years, 90.8% from rural area, 71.9% weren’t know about breast self-examination. The girls’ mean of knowledge and practices regarding breast self-examination was in pre-program 12.28 and 2.26 while it enhanced to be 36.03 and 9.67 with significant improvement after the program application. Conclusion: The training program improved knowledge and practices of breast self-examination among girls with hearing disability. Recommendations: Continuous training program about breast self-examination for girls with special need to increase their awareness regarding early detection of breast cancer.

Relation between Climate Changes, Quality of Life and Psychological Status among Assiut Population: Online Based Survey

Research Abstract

Abstract
The effects of climate change pose significant threats to ecosystems, biodiversity, and the well-being of human populations. Aim: The study aimed to explore the relation between climate changes, quality of life and psychological status among Assiut city population. Setting: The study was conducted at Assiut city by utilizing web-based online survey. The study sample was 1300 as a convenience sample. Five tools were used; the socio-demographic data, Climate Change Anxiety Scale, Climate Change Worry Scale, Self- Efficacy Scale and the WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire. Results: There was strong positive correlation between climate change worry and climate change anxiety Scales (r value .838). Moreover, there was also positive correlation between self-efficacy, climate change worry and climate change anxiety scales (r value, .088, .174) respectively. Conclusions & Recommendation: The research outcomes revealed a substantial association between anxiety and worry levels and socio-demographic factors. Furthermore, the study demonstrated a noteworthy correlation between socio-demographic characteristics and overall quality of life which significantly impact individuals' well-being in relation to climate change-induced anxiety and worry. Implementing an educational program on climate change among the population through mass media as a strategy to address the challenges posed by climate change

Barriers to regular antenatal follow up among pregnant women during corona virus pandemic

Research Abstract

Abstract COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the delivery of regular services, which might have an impact on pregnant women's use of antenatal care (ANC). Aim: Assess barriers to regular antenatal follow up among pregnant women during corona virus pandemic Design: Descriptive exploratory cross sectional research design. Setting: The study was carried out at two MCH centers from Assuit city and three villages from Assuit district. Sample: 350 pregnant women. Study tool: A structured interview questionnaire. Results: There was statistically significant difference between urban and rural in relation to distance and transportation problems, lack of income, lack of awareness about ANC& Fear of getting Covid-19 infection with p-value .001, .005, 005 respectively. Conclusion: Fear of getting Covid- 19 infection, distance and transportation problems and lack of income are the most common barriers to irregular attendance of ANC visits duringCovid-9 Pandemic Recommendations: Community awareness campaigns for women regarding importance of antenatal care through various mass media
