compliance to Therapeutic regimen among Geriatric patients with Heart Failure at Assiut City Hospital

Research Abstract
Abstract: Heart failure patients require complicated care that involves drugs controlling and extreme teaching about the significance of suitable nutrition, consistent exercise, symptoms control, and fluid checking. This study aimed to assess therapeutic compliance among old patients with cardiac failure in out patient’s clinic at Assiut City hospitals. Patients and methods: descriptive study design was conducted. The total sample size was 280 elderly patients who were selected by quota from 3 hospitals at Assiut City. Two tools, were used first, was interview questionnaire, second was heart failure compliance questionnaire scale. Results: it was found 59.3% of elderly patients were male, with mean age ± SD was 65.10 ± 6.12, 56.1% had poor knowledge scores, 66.8% were non-complaint with weight and 58.9% and 53.9% respectively of them were non-complaint with avoid drinking excessive fluid and keep a little salt food. Moreover, illustrated significant difference at all items of compliance with knowledge except compliance with take medication P= 0.305. Conclusion: More than half of studied elderly patient had poor knowledge score and this was correlate with non-therapeutic compliance among elderly patient. Recommendations: More studies should be implemented to assess therapeutic compliance, health education program for elderly about therapeutic compliance about heart failure.

Habits followed among adolescents and their families toward
treatment of Amenorrhea at puberty

Research Abstract
change for young females. Menstrual disturbances are not uncommon and may add further disruption to this difficult phase, so this is an opportunity for clinicians to advise the adolescent on abnormal conditions related to delayed menstrual cycle and its treatment. Aim: To explore the habits followed among adolescents and families toward treatment of amenorrhea at puberty. Methods: This is a cross sectional/ Quasi-experimental. The recruited 200 adolescent girls from two different localities: urban and rural preparatory schools in Asyut city, Egypt. Statistical analysis: The data were tested for normality using the Anderson- Darling test and for homogeneity variances prior to further statistical analysis. Results: Comparison between parents’ habits based on locality revealed a statistical significant difference. Knowledge about causes of delayed menstruation among urban adolescent students revealed a statistically significant difference. Conclusion: This study highlights an important theme of habits and knowledge about amenorrhea among adolescents and their parents. Clinical implications: Further research should be done to figure out the relationship between knowledge and habits related to puberty abnormalities and its management. Moreover, to provide students in the preparatory phase with a simple guidance program.

The maternal and neonatal outcomes of teenage
pregnancy in a tertiary university hospital in
Egypt

Research Abstract
Aim: To highlight the grave complications among teenage mothers in Assiut Woman's Health Hospital compared with the adult mothers. Methods: This study was a prospective case control study, conducted at the Labor Ward of Assiut Woman's Health Hospital from 1st of January 2016 to 30th of June 2016. We included teenage pregnant women (13-19 completed years at delivery) as case and adult mothers (20-29 years) formed the control group. The primary outcome of the study is the rate of pregnancy complications among teenage mothers. Results: Obstetric complications were higher among the teenage mothers (p=0.0001). The teenage mothers had a higher proportion of normal vaginal delivery (p=0.005). The adult mothers reported a higher rate of elective cesarean section (CS) and operative vaginal delivery (p=0.0001, p=0.002; respectively). The infants of teenage mothers tended to have a lower birth weight and Apgar score than the adult ones. Conclusion: This study clearly states that the teenage mothers and their infants were more liable to complications during pregnancy and labor compared to adult mothers.

Effect of an Educational Program on Nurses' Knowledge and Practice Regarding Defibrillation and Cardioversion

Research Abstract
Electrical cardioversion and defibrillation is a critical treatment for the survival of patients with cardiac arrest. Therefore, critical care nurses not only have to know how to monitor and operate the defibrillator, but also to provide interventions for preventing possible complications. The Aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of educational program on knowledge and practice of nurses regarding defibrillation and cardioversion. Method A convenient sample of 50 nurses working in coronary care unit and emergency care unit at Assiut University Heart Hospital. A structured interview questionnaire sheet and Nurses practice observational checklist tools were used to collect the data. Results the present study revealed that total mean scores of the nurses knowledge and practices were improved from a preprogram level of (26.04 ± 9.51) to knowledge and (75.54 ± 10.90) for practice to an immediate post of (68.84 ± 1.75) for knowledge and (134.70 ± 1.52) for practice. Conclusion Nurses' level of knowledge and practice in caring of patients was unsatisfactory before the program and significantly improved immediately post program and at follow up phase in all items. Recommendation: Orientation program should be utilized for newly graduated nurses'

Effect of nursing educational program regarding defibrillation and cardioversion on patients' outcomes

Research Abstract
Defibrillators are life-saving and their early use improves survival of patients presenting with sudden cardiac arrest due to shockable rhythms if they are used safely and correctly. The Aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of educational program of nurses' on patients' outcomes. Method A quasi-experimental research design Setting, the present study conducted in coronary care unit at Assiut University Heart Hospital. The sample the study included 30 Patients’ before implementation of the education program and 30 Patients’ after implementation of the education program. Tools: Three tools were utilized to collect data pertinent to the study, Tool l: Assessment of patients undergoing defibrillation and cardiovertion. Tool II: Characteristics of direct current (DC) electric shock for patients. Tool III: Assessment of expected complication for critically ill patients’ undergoing defibrillation and cardiovertion . Result, Finding of the present study revealed that a significant statistical difference was existed between both groups after educational program in relation to types of rhythm, joule used restoring sinus rhythm, number of electric shock. There were insignificant difference observed between two group regarding skin burn after direct current DC electric shock reached to the maximum improvement before discharge .Conclusion: improvement with significant differences in patient study group in overall main domains related to improve nurses' practice after educational program. The study recommended nursing care standard for management of patient undergoing defibrillation and cardiovertion should be revised, updated and available in cardiac care unite in both Arabic and English language.
