Announcement of a PhD Scholarship at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Valencia (ETSE-UV), Spain

The Office of International Relations and Arab Universities Affairs announces a PhD scholarship at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Valencia (ETSE-UV), Spain, for non-EU candidates. The scholarship will be awarded for a four-year doctoral program on "Development of a Fermentation Biorefinery for Agro-Industrial Waste to Produce Bioalcohols as Feedstock for Sustainable Aviation Fuel." The scholarship is part of the Grisolia Competitive Research and Development Program of the Government of Valencia.

Research:
The PhD thesis will focus on the experimental study and optimization of the three stages of the biorefinery (upstream, midstream, and downstream) to enhance the conversion of alcohols to jet fuel using local agro-industrial waste.

Benefits:
Gross annual salary:
€24,300 per year during the first and second years.
€25,210 during the third year.
€31,000 for the fourth year.
In addition to an initial fixed amount of €1,600 to cover travel expenses to secure a permanent address in Valencia.

Required documents for application:
1. A university degree (Master's) in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, or another discipline at the same level and branch. The Master's degree must be issued by a university outside the European Union.
2. The candidate's Master's degree must have been completed after January 2020.
3. The applicant must be eligible to enroll in a doctoral program in Spain and hold a university degree issued by a foreign education system outside the European Higher Education Area, equivalent to an official Spanish Master's degree, and qualifying for doctoral studies in the country where the degree was issued.

Assiut University Researchers Announced as Winners of Erasmus KA171 Scholarships in Cooperation with Kastamonu University in Turkey

Announcement of grants for postdoctoral scientific missions at King Abdullah City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

The Office of International Relations and Arab Universities Affairs announces the opening of applications for a full-time postdoctoral position in bioelectrochemical sensing at the BioMAD Laboratory at King Abdullah City for Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. The position will focus on developing electrochemical biosensors for the detection of disease-specific biomarkers.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to engage in innovative research that contributes to advancements in this field.

Eligibility Requirements

• The applicant must have a PhD in chemistry, bioengineering, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related field obtained within the past five years.

• At least three first-author publications in high-impact-factor journals.

• Research experience in electrochemical sensing, bioperformance, and surface characterization.

Required Skills

1. Proficiency in electrochemical sensing techniques (CV, DPV, EIS, SWV).

2. Experience with biofunctionalization strategies (e.g., silencing, EDC-NHS chemistry)

3. Familiarity with surface characterization techniques (XPS, Raman spectroscopy, SEM).

4. Software skills for data analysis and plotting (e.g., PS Trace, Metrohm NOVA, Matlab, Graphpad Prism).

Other Skills

1. Experience in fabricating and characterizing nanomaterials.

2. Familiarity with fluorescence/confocal/optical microscopy.

3. Knowledge of microfabrication or microfluidics.

4. Experience in grant writing.

The Office of International Relations and Arab Universities Affairs, in cooperation with the Japanese Language Center at Assiut University, announces the opening of applications for the Japanese Government Scholarship (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) for graduate students for the year 2026.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Only Egyptian students are eligible.
2. Under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2026.
3. Holders of a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree with a cumulative GPA of at least 75% (GPA 3 out of 4).
4. Required language proficiency:
• English: IELTS 6.0 / TOEFL iBT 79 / CEFR B2.
• Japanese (for students majoring in Japanese only): JLPT N2.
5. Students who are currently enrolled at a university or research institution and are continuing their studies in the same field they wish to study in Japan.
6. Only undergraduate, master's, or doctoral students are eligible to apply, and preference is given to those who expect to return to the Arab Republic of Egypt after completing their studies in Japan.

Important Information
• The Embassy of Japan in the Arab Republic of Egypt will select approximately 11 preliminary candidates through document screening, language tests, and interviews.
• Candidates selected as preliminary candidates by the Embassy will be recommended to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology for a second screening.
• Following the Embassy's recommendation to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, preliminary candidates must obtain admission from a university in Japan.
