Under the Motto “Healthy Individual = Strong Nation”… Professor El-Minshawy Inaugurates Scientific Day at Assiut University on “Presidential Initiatives and Sustainable Health Development”

Assiut University, under the leadership of Professor Ahmed Al-Minshawy, inaugurated today the Scientific Day titled “Presidential Initiatives and Sustainable Health Development” under the motto “Healthy Individual = Strong Nation”, organized by the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector in collaboration with the Egyptian Thyroid Association and the Sustainable Development Center. The event was held under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of Dr. Mohamed Hassani.

The event was part of efforts to support the state’s initiatives to develop the healthcare system and integrate academic and medical efforts to serve society. It was attended by Professor Mohamed Zein, Assiut Governorate Health Director, Professor Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, Professor Ghada El-Khatib, Head of the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit at Assiut University and President of the Egyptian Thyroid Association, Professor Saleh Mahmoud, Director of the Sustainable Development Center, along with a number of deans, university physicians, Ministry of Health and Interior officials, and other academic and executive leaders.

At the opening, Professor El-Minshawy welcomed the university’s guests and praised the role of presidential initiatives in improving the quality of healthcare services, early detection rates, and specialized care. He emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting national development efforts across various sectors, particularly healthcare as a pillar in building the Egyptian individual.

Professor El-Minshawy highlighted the university’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with all healthcare institutions in the governorate, including Manfalout Central Hospital and Dairout Oncology Hospital. He added that the new University Oncology Hospital represents a model for an advanced, comprehensive medical center, stressing the importance of supporting this vital institution to enhance the healthcare system in line with the highest standards of quality.

He also affirmed that the Scientific Day reflects the Egyptian state’s vision of prioritizing citizens’ health as a national priority. The presidential health initiatives have created a qualitative leap in healthcare service quality, early detection, and specialized care. The university plays an essential role in supporting these national efforts across all development sectors, particularly in the healthcare domain.

The university president explained that the motto “Healthy Individual = Strong Nation” reflects the fundamental truth that human health is the cornerstone of societal progress and national prosperity. The national health initiatives aim to provide comprehensive medical care, raise health awareness, and encourage a healthy lifestyle across all community segments.

Professor El-Minshawy emphasized the university’s role as a knowledge hub and a key driver in supporting state plans and strategic vision, highlighting its distinguished medical and scientific staff, major university hospitals, and advanced research laboratories. These resources have contributed to raising health awareness, providing advanced services, and actively participating in national health initiatives, particularly in Upper Egypt.

He also outlined the university’s efforts in completing the new University Oncology Hospital, the largest medical, therapeutic, and research center in Egypt, which aims to provide the latest diagnostic and treatment services for cancer patients in Upper Egypt.

Professor Mohamed Hassani expressed his appreciation for participating in the Scientific Day, emphasizing that the health of Egyptian citizens is a pillar of national security and fundamental to building the human capital of the New Republic. He reviewed the major healthcare challenges from ten years ago, current economic and regional challenges, and the launch of major health projects. He noted that the implementation of national health initiatives and the comprehensive health insurance system has effectively restructured the healthcare sector, improving health indicators and expanding services for citizens.

Professor Hassani praised Assiut University for its active role in supporting the healthcare sector, highlighting that the university is a leading model among Egyptian universities in participating in presidential health initiatives and expanding services offered to citizens.

Professor Mohamed Adawy emphasized that health policies are a top priority for any country, noting that sustainable development cannot be achieved without health. He pointed out that health initiatives are a central tool to address real risks in favor of citizens and society, and that the event provides an opportunity to analyze existing health policies, follow ongoing work, and present visions for future development.

Professor Mohamed Zein, Assiut Governorate Health Director, expressed his appreciation for Assiut University’s vital role in providing scientific expertise and consultancy to the healthcare sector, commending its support for projects such as Assiut General Hospital, Manfalout Central Hospital, and Dairout Oncology Hospital, as well as providing ventilators, incubators, and intensive care units, which have significantly contributed to improving healthcare services and medical staff.

Professor Hoda Makhlouf expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in the Scientific Day, highlighting the role of Assiut University hospitals and the Faculty of Medicine in national health initiatives, including efforts to eliminate waiting lists, the Hayah Karima initiative, and early detection of breast and gynecological cancers through medical convoys and awareness campaigns, which have strengthened community health and service quality.

Professor Ghada El-Khatib stressed that the presidential health initiatives embody the state’s vision of investing in human capital as a key element for the nation’s future. She highlighted the role of the Egyptian Thyroid Association in supporting these efforts by raising health awareness and developing medical staff skills through seminars, workshops, and international conferences in collaboration with health and research institutions in Egypt and globally.

The inauguration included videos showcasing presidential initiatives and the achievements of Assiut University Medical City, including hospitals, specialized units, and new infrastructure and medical services.

The Scientific Day featured four specialized sessions addressing key topics for building a modern healthcare system: integrating health initiatives to achieve Egypt 2030 Vision, child health and investing in the future, women’s health towards comprehensive and sustainable care, and chronic diseases and obesity towards a healthy and sustainable society.

Specialized medical teams also participated in early cancer screening, general health assessments, diabetes testing, women’s health checkups, and awareness campaigns on healthy marriage and hereditary diseases, enhancing health education and familiarizing the university community with various health initiatives and programs.

The event concluded with the presentation of Assiut University shields to Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, Professor Mohamed Hassani, and the Egyptian Thyroid Association in recognition of their efforts to support national initiatives and promote community health.

Assiut University Announces the Launch of the 13th International Conference on Development and Environment in the Arab World under the Title “Sustainable Development: Present Realities and Future Prospects” in April 2026

Assiut University has announced the organization of the 13th International Conference on Development and Environment in the Arab World, scheduled for April 14–15, 2026, under the title “Sustainable Development: Present Realities and Future Prospects.”
The conference will be held under the patronage of Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Professor Manal Awad Mikhael, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment; Major General Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut; and Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University.

The conference will be supervised by Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of Assiut University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Conference Chair, and Dr. Mahmoud Abdel-Alim, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Honorary Chair of the Conference, with the participation of a distinguished group of scientists, researchers, and experts from across the Arab world.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that the conference represents an important scientific platform to strengthen Assiut University’s research role in supporting international efforts toward achieving sustainable development, particularly in the post-COP29 phase. He added that the conference will highlight the latest scientific trends in environmental and public health fields and present applied solutions to pressing environmental challenges through discussions on food security, climate change, sustainable resource management, the green economy, biotechnology, and innovations supporting human health.

The University President noted that the conference is one of the largest periodic scientific events organized by Assiut University and reflects the commitment of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector to supporting Egypt’s national vision for a more sustainable future and improving quality of life across the Arab world.

For his part, Professor Mohamed Adawy explained that this year’s conference will address several key themes, including the role of technology and artificial intelligence in environmental protection and pollution monitoring; the transition to clean energy and the challenges of carbon neutrality; sustainable waste management and the promotion of responsible consumption and production patterns; water resource management policies within the framework of the blue economy; ecosystem restoration, biodiversity conservation, and environmental security.

He added that the conference will also focus on social sustainability and future scenarios by addressing social justice, education for sustainability, approaches to poverty reduction, and the reinforcement of social identity. In addition, the agenda will cover mechanisms for sustainable financing, support for innovation and green entrepreneurship, and the transition toward a circular economy.

Preparations for the conference are being carried out in coordination between the Sustainable Development Center, headed by Professor Saleh Mahmoud Ismail, Center Director and Secretary General of the Conference, and the Center for Environmental Studies and Research, headed by Professor Ahmed Hamza El-Husseini, Center Director and Conference Rapporteur, alongside scientific and organizing committees comprising specialized experts from within and outside the University.

Conference activities will include scientific sessions, specialized workshops, and an accompanying exhibition for research institutions and environmental organizations. Assiut University Concludes the Training Course on the “Scientific and Practical Foundations for Preparing Strategic Situation Assessments” for Faculty Members

Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the University concluded the activities of the training course entitled “Scientific and Practical Foundations for Preparing Strategic Situation Assessments” for faculty members. The course was organized by the National Center for Studies in cooperation with Assiut University during the period from 29 November to 1 December, and was held at the Faculty and Leadership Development Center in the University’s Administrative Building. The course was supervised by Major General Ahmed El-Shahabi, President of the National Center for Studies, and Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of Assiut University for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members from various University faculties.

The concluding day of the course witnessed discussions of applied models prepared by the participants during two training sessions. Major General Dr. Ahmed Farouk, Advisor to the National Center for Studies, chaired the session on external issues, while Mr. Hani Al-Aassar, Executive Director of the Center, chaired the session on internal issues. The sessions addressed models of strategic situation assessment and scenario formulation, covering advanced themes and methodologies of situation analysis, while ensuring participants’ ability to apply analytical concepts and methods to realistic case studies.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy affirmed that organizing this specialized course reflects the University’s ongoing commitment to investing in human capital and developing the capacities of faculty members in line with the State’s direction toward building academic leaders capable of managing change. He noted that strategic situation assessments have become an essential tool within academic institutions, enabling accurate reading of reality, anticipation of challenges, and formulation of effective solutions, thereby supporting decision-makers in selecting the most appropriate alternatives.

For his part, Professor Mohamed Adawy stated that the course aims to raise strategic awareness and equip academic staff with tools for situation analysis and scenario planning to support decision-making. He added that the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector is keen to provide high-quality training programs that align with faculty members’ needs and enhance the University’s societal and institutional role, reflecting a clear advancement in both scientific and practical skills. He also recommended expanding the scope of such training courses and increasing the number of participants to include all academic levels, from teaching assistants to assistant lecturers, not only faculty members, and expressed his appreciation to the National Center for Studies for their dedication to delivering the program at the highest professional level.

Major General Dr. Ahmed Farouk praised the success of the course and the ideas and scenarios presented by the participants, emphasizing that preparing strategic situation assessments is not merely a report-writing exercise, but rather a complex scientific process that integrates deep knowledge, rigorous analysis, and future foresight. He stressed that assessments based on reliable data and sound analysis support decision-makers in confronting challenges, seizing opportunities, and shaping a better future.

Mr. Hani Al-Aassar reviewed the core skills required to prepare a successful situation assessment, including the ability to conduct logical and in-depth analysis, familiarity with the strategic and political environment, skills in information gathering and analysis, critical thinking and hypothesis evaluation, as well as objectivity and avoidance of bias.

In turn, Professor Jaber Megahid expressed his appreciation to both trainers and trainees, noting his satisfaction with the cooperation between Assiut University and various partner entities in supporting faculty members. He affirmed the Center’s commitment to supporting training programs aimed at developing academic staff capacities.

Participants praised the content of the training course, highlighting the richness of its scientific value, the efficiency of the trainers in delivering the material, and the role of the course in enhancing interaction among participants and facilitating the exchange of perspectives on a wide range of topics.

Assiut University Pest Control Unit Strengthens Its Efforts to Ensure a Safe and Healthy Campus Environment

Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, conducted a field visit to the University’s Household Pest Control Unit to follow up on workflow and to assess the status of environmental and public health systems across the campus.

He was accompanied during the visit by Professor Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, Director of the University’s Household Pest Control Unit; Professor Ahmed Mahmoud Saleh, Executive Director of the Unit; Mr. Mahmoud Fawzy Mahmoud, General Director of the Environmental Projects Administration; Mr. Mostafa Gaber Shaker, General Director of the University Guesthouses Administration; and Mr. Ahmed Mostafa Abdel Aziz, Follow-up Officer at the Environmental Projects Administration, in addition to members of the Unit’s working team and a number of staff from the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy affirmed that the University places the environment and public health at the top of its priorities, which necessitates the continuous development of the Pest Control Unit and the enhancement of its readiness to respond to reports swiftly and effectively. He also stressed the importance of supporting the Unit’s technical and operational procedures to ensure the application of sound scientific pest control methods, thereby providing a healthy and safe university environment for all students and staff, in line with the needs of the various faculties and sectors across the University.

During the tour, Professor Mohamed Adawy emphasized the importance of strengthening communication channels between the Unit and the faculties as well as relevant entities inside and outside the University to ensure safe and effective handling of pest-related reports. He also highlighted the need for the optimal distribution of field teams to serve different sectors and administrations, adherence to scientific pest control principles, and the organization of awareness workshops for students and staff on pesticide alternatives and safe pest management practices. In addition, he underscored the importance of upgrading equipment to meet the expansion of services and studying the establishment of a central operations room for real-time monitoring of incoming reports.

For his part, Professor Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim explained that the visit included a comprehensive presentation of the Unit’s work plan, covering mechanisms for implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) for agricultural pests and public health pests in accordance with precise scientific standards. The presentation also reviewed the current year’s pest distribution map, identifying areas requiring urgent intervention, as well as the monthly spraying schedule and routine inspection plans to ensure continuous control of infestation hotspots. It further included an overview of rapid response mechanisms for emergency reports and a detailed report on the use of safe pesticides approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, along with the Unit’s efforts to rationalize pesticide use and shift toward biological alternatives in order to safeguard human health and the environment.

Assiut University Launches the Training Course “Scientific and Practical Foundations for Preparing Strategic Situation Assessments” for Faculty Members

Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the University launched on Saturday, 29 November, the training course entitled “Scientific and Practical Foundations for Preparing Strategic Situation Assessments” for faculty members. The course is organized by the National Center for Studies, in cooperation with Assiut University, and will run from 29 November to 1 December at the Faculty and Leadership Development Center in the University’s Administrative Building.

The course is held under the supervision of Major General Ahmed El-Shahaby, President of the National Center for Studies, and Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of Assiut University for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The lectures are delivered by Major General Dr. Ahmed Farouk, Consultant at the National Center for Studies, and Mr. Hany El-Aassar, Executive Director of the Center, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members from various faculties of the University.

The course is part of Assiut University’s commitment to supporting the skills of academic staff and enhancing their capacities in preparing situation assessments and strategic decision-making, thereby contributing to more effective planning and crisis management within academic institutions.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that Assiut University attaches great importance to developing the skills of its faculty members and enhancing their academic and administrative expertise through specialized training programs. He noted that the course represents a valuable opportunity to strengthen participants’ capacities to analyze reality, identify opportunities and challenges, and formulate decisions based on sound scientific and strategic foundations.

Assiut University Launches Antibiotic Resistance Awareness

Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the University on Monday, November 24 witnessed the launch of the scientific seminar entitled “Young Voices, Strong Impact… Together Against Antimicrobial Resistance.” The event was held under the supervision of Professor Ahmed Abdel-Mawla, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Professor Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Rahman, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs.

The seminar was organized by the Infection Control Department at Assiut University Hospitals, in cooperation with the Antibiotic Committee at Al-Rajhi Hospital, the Main Blood Bank Unit of the Clinical Pathology Department, and the Scientific Committee of the Assiut University Student Union.

The event was attended by Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Khaled Abdel-Aziz, Director of the Main University Hospital; Dr. Sherif Kamel, Director of Al-Rajhi Hospital; and Dr. Hassan Refaat, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for Education and Student Affairs.

In his remarks, Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that Assiut University places great importance on community health issues, particularly antimicrobial resistance, which represents a global challenge requiring coordinated academic and medical efforts. He noted that organizing this seminar reflects the University’s commitment to scientific and awareness-raising initiatives, enhancing awareness among students and healthcare professionals about the rational use of antibiotics, and strengthening medical competencies in service of society and healthcare quality.

Scientific lectures were delivered by Dr. Haidy Karamallah Ramadan, Assistant Professor of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology and Head of the Antibiotic Committee at Al-Rajhi Hospital; Dr. Asmaa El-Darawy, Director of the Infection Control Department at Assiut University Hospitals; Dr. Karima Mohamed Sobhi, Assistant Consultant of Public Health; and Dr. Rasha Hosny, Consultant of Tropical Medicine and Gastroenterology.

During the opening session, Professor Mohamed Adawy commended the scientific and community efforts of the Infection Control Department, the Antibiotic Committee at Al-Rajhi Hospital, the Blood Bank Unit, and the Student Union’s Scientific Committee in raising awareness of the dangers of improper antibiotic use. He affirmed the University’s continued support for impactful scientific activities that keep pace with advances in medical sciences.

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Rahman explained that the seminar aims to highlight the safe and rational use of antibiotics to prevent bacterial resistance, praising the strong cooperation among medical teams at the University Hospitals, Infection Control Unit, and Blood Bank in providing awareness and patient care.

Dr. Hoda Makhlouf noted that the seminar is held as part of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, stressing the importance of addressing optimal antibiotic use and the risks of overuse, particularly in light of the post-COVID-19 context and the relevance of this issue across multiple medical specialties.

The seminar included two scientific sessions discussing recent developments in bacterial infections, mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance, strategies to combat bacterial spread, and the role of younger generations in confronting this challenge, under the theme “Awareness and Proper Use… Our Weapon Against Antimicrobial Resistance.”

The organizing bodies also announced the launch of a blood donation campaign as part of the week’s activities, reinforcing community engagement and support for patients within the University.

Assiut University Hosts 10th International Conference of the Faculty of Education: “Creative Education and Human Development”

On Sunday, November 23, Assiut University inaugurated the 10th International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Education, under the theme “Creative Education and Human Development”, with the opening ceremony held at the University’s administrative building. The conference continues over two days, November 23–24.

The event took place under the supervision of Professor Gamal Badr, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Professor Hassan Mohamed Howail, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Conference Chair, and key faculty leaders including Dr. Amani Sherif, Dr. Howaida Mahmoud, and Dr. Gamal Hassan El-Sayed. The opening session was attended by Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, University President, Professor Ahmed Abdelmawla, Vice President for Education, Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, as well as a distinguished group of educational experts, deans, and faculty members from Egypt and the Arab world.

The conference focuses on innovative approaches in education to build human capabilities, emphasizing the role of artificial intelligence in teaching, entrepreneurship, vocational education, teacher preparation, talent nurturing, and the creation of positive learning environments. It also highlights global trends in human resource management, educational leadership, and policies supporting creativity and excellence.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that developing the educational process is central to preparing individuals capable of meeting the demands of the modern era. He highlighted the conference as a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing local and international research, and nurturing creative talents as part of Egypt’s ongoing “Human Development” initiatives.

Professor Ahmed Abdelmawla noted that the conference gathers a select group of national and regional experts to explore new educational strategies, reflecting the Egyptian government’s focus on human development as a pillar of comprehensive national growth.

Professor Gamal Badr stressed the importance of fostering creative thinking skills in youth to meet global intellectual challenges, calling for an educational system that cultivates critical and innovative thinking.

Assiut University Hosts Awareness Seminar on “Risks of Corruption and Mechanisms for Its Combating in the New Republic” at the Faculty of Science

Assiut University, under the leadership of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, organized an awareness and educational seminar titled “Risks of Corruption and Mechanisms for Its Combating in the New Republic” at the Faculty of Science. This seminar is part of a series held across the University’s faculties to support the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2023–2030.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that promoting a culture of integrity and transparency is a top priority for the University, aligned with the goals of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and the objectives of the New Republic in building strong institutions capable of confronting corruption. He noted that such awareness seminars raise the level of knowledge among students, faculty members, and staff about their role in reinforcing governance principles, respecting the law, and fostering societal responsibility, thereby preparing future generations to support state efforts in administrative reform and safeguarding public resources.

The seminar was attended by Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Abu Bakr Mohamed El-Tayeb, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Dr. Essam Fadl Abu Zeid, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; along with faculty members, teaching assistants, and administrative staff. The seminar was presented by Dr. Mostafa Morsi, Coordinator of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy at Assiut University.

Professor Mohamed Adawy highlighted that organizing this seminar reflects the University’s community-oriented role in promoting values of integrity, transparency, and good governance, in line with Egypt Vision 2030 for building resilient institutions. He stressed the importance of raising awareness of institutional and administrative corruption among all University affiliates, considering accountability a key pillar for building effective institutions that contribute to sustainable development.

Dr. Abu Bakr Mohamed El-Tayeb underscored the significance of such seminars in clarifying the negative impacts of corruption on society and development, explaining the legislative framework for combating it, and emphasizing the role of academic institutions in instilling a sense of citizenship among students as future leaders. He further stressed the need to cultivate a campus community that understands the risks of corruption and is equipped to apply modern prevention mechanisms within the framework of governance and institutional integrity.

Dr. Essam Fadl Abu Zeid noted that Assiut University is committed to organizing educational events that strengthen societal awareness, given that society itself forms the first line of defense against corruption. He highlighted the critical role of educational institutions in preparing cadres that respect laws and regulations and adhere to principles of integrity, recognizing anti-corruption efforts as a fundamental pillar of building the New Republic.

During his lecture, Dr. Mostafa Morsi provided a comprehensive overview of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2023–2030, which focuses on building an efficient administrative apparatus, developing human resource systems, establishing values of integrity and transparency, enhancing the efficiency of governmental services, supporting legislative and judicial structures, strengthening the capacities of oversight bodies, and raising public awareness of corruption risks. He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and experience exchange, presenting practical examples of mechanisms to reduce corruption within government institutions.

 

Assiut University Farms: A Comprehensive Model Supporting Agricultural and Animal Production and Serving the Community

In line with Assiut University’s strategy to maximize the utilization of its productive assets, the University farms at the Faculty of Agriculture continue to play a pivotal role in supporting educational and research activities, while providing safe, high-quality food products to the university community and surrounding areas. This contributes to sustainable development, community service, and environmental enhancement, under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, University President, and supervision of Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that the University farms represent a key productive and scientific arm for linking academic education with practical application. He noted that the University treats these farms as educational, research, and production units, helping to prepare graduates capable of meeting the demands of the agricultural and animal production labor market.

Professor Mohamed Adawy highlighted that the Faculty of Agriculture farms serve as a practical model for community service, providing safe, high-quality food products and supporting small-scale breeders while preserving high-value animal genetic breeds. He added that the University is currently working to increase operational efficiency and productivity in the farms and to further enhance their societal role, thereby strengthening the University’s self-generated resources and delivering tangible benefits to the local community, in alignment with the national vision for sustainable agricultural development.

In this context, Professor Mohamed Adawy conducted an inspection tour of the University farms on Monday, January 12, accompanied by Professor Adel Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Galal Abdel Fattah Al-Saghir, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Dr. Mohsen Mohamed Farghaly, Scientific Supervisor of the Production Farm at the Department of Animal Production; Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Latif, Scientific Supervisor of the Research Farm at the Department of Animal Production; and Dr. Khaled Abu El-Ezz, Head of the Poultry Production Department and Scientific Supervisor of the Research and Production Farms. The tour focused on developing the farms, enhancing productivity, and maximizing their educational and community impact.

Assiut University farms feature a fully integrated production system, including poultry farms, animal production sectors, feed units, slaughterhouses, and fish production units, providing a diverse platform for practical education, postgraduate research, faculty research projects, and supporting the University’s self-generated resources.

The poultry farms include broiler production units, a fully equipped slaughterhouse, freezing facilities, and specialized breeding halls for strains such as Sharkasi, Dandarawi, and Fayoumi. They also host rabbits, quail, ducks, geese, turkeys, pigeons, and a distinguished ostrich sector. The farm supplies its products through the Faculty’s sales outlets and offers select high-value breeds to small local breeders.

The animal production farms comprise two main sectors: a research sector, providing animals for scientific studies and postgraduate theses, and a production sector, supplying the university community with dairy and meat products at affordable prices, with on-site slaughtering and packaging according to health standards. The farms maintain genetic diversity in valuable animal breeds, including Friesian, Jersey, Brown Swiss, Egyptian buffalo, and various sheep breeds.

The farms also feature a modern automated milking facility, used to train students in advanced animal production management techniques, along with a fully equipped slaughterhouse for fattened calves, supporting the Faculty’s sales outlets and serving an important community role during holiday seasons, particularly Eid al-Adha.

This integrated model highlights Assiut University’s commitment to combining education, research, and production to serve both its students and the wider community, while contributing to the sustainable development of agriculture and animal production in the region.
