Assiut University Discusses the Repercussions of Iranian-American Tensions on the Egyptian State and Citizens in an Awareness Seminar at the Faculty of Education
Under the auspices of Dr. Al-Minshawi, President of the University, and Dr. Ahmed Yahya, Head of the Internal Media Sector at the State Information Service, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Education, Assiut University, in cooperation with the State Information Service in Assiut Governorate, organized an awareness seminar entitled: “An Analytical Reading of the Effects of Iranian-American Tensions on the Egyptian State and Citizens.” The seminar was presented by Dr. Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
Dr. Al-Minshawi emphasized Assiut University’s commitment to organizing awareness seminars that address influential regional and international issues. He pointed out that educational institutions play a vital role in enhancing youth awareness and empowering them to understand international issues and analyze their various dimensions objectively. He added that the university strives to prepare students with sufficient awareness and knowledge to understand regional and international changes and their potential impacts, thereby strengthening their ability to deal consciously with contemporary challenges and contributing to supporting societal stability and consolidating the values of national belonging.
The seminar was held under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Hawil, Dean of the Faculty of Education; Dr. Amani Mohamed Sharif, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Ms. Abeer Gomaa Hussein, Director of the Assiut Media Department; and Ms. Fatima Ahmed, Deputy Director of the Assiut Media Department. Attendees included faculty members, teaching assistants from various university faculties, staff members, and a large number of students.
During his lecture, Dr. Mohamed Adawy addressed several important topics, including the escalating Iranian-American tensions, their regional and international repercussions, the Egyptian position and crisis management efforts, the potential security and economic impacts, and Egyptian policies for dealing with the consequences of these tensions.
The Vice President of the University pointed out that any escalation between the two sides could threaten the stability of the Middle East region, given its direct impact on the global economy, particularly energy markets and international trade. He reviewed the potential effects on Egypt, which adopts a balanced foreign policy based on supporting regional stability and diplomatic solutions, while emphasizing the state's and its institutions' ability to manage crises and protect national security.
He explained that international tensions may indirectly affect citizens through the global economy, such as through potential increases in energy prices, but the state continues to implement economic policies that contribute to mitigating these repercussions and maintaining market stability and living standards.
Dr. Hassan Huweil noted the college's commitment to organizing scientific and awareness-raising events that contribute to developing students' understanding of contemporary issues. He explained that analyzing international events from a scientific perspective contributes to building students' character, enabling them to understand and interpret events critically, free from rumors or inaccurate interpretations.
Dr. Amani Mohamed Sharif emphasized that the symposium represents an excellent opportunity for dialogue and the exchange of perspectives on the impact of international crises on societies. She pointed out the importance of educating students on how to interpret the global political landscape and its economic and social ramifications, thereby enhancing their ability to understand reality and interact with it consciously and responsibly.
In the same vein, Professor Abeer Gomaa Hussein expressed her delight at collaborating with Assiut University in organizing this seminar, noting that such events contribute to strengthening community culture and raising awareness of current issues. She emphasized that awareness-raising media plays a vital role in clarifying facts and providing reliable information to the public.
For her part, Professor Fatima Ahmed commended the organization of these seminars, which serve as a platform for constructive dialogue and the exchange of perspectives between specialists and students. This contributes to establishing a culture of awareness and objective analysis of events. She stressed the importance of the role of youth in understanding the nature of regional challenges and their various repercussions on societies.
