During his visit to Assiut University to participate in an enlarged public conference on the "National and Strategic Projects in Egypt," Eng. Ibrahim Mehleb, Advisor of the President of the Republic for strategic and National Projects, asserted that the strategic and national projects which have been accomplished since 2013 reached the number of 3195 projects with a total cost of 667 Billion Egyptian Pounds. He added that there are 1229 projects with a total cost of 1.575 Billion currently under execution. Thus, the overall number of the intended projects will be 4424 projects. This is one reason to make Egyptians proud, self confident and wishful for a better future. The conference was also attended by Consultant Amir Sayed, Advisor of the President of the Republic for Urban Planning, Eng. Yasser Al-Dessouki, Governor of Assiut, and Field Major General Sherif Seif El-Din, Commander of the Southern Region.

Dr. Samy Abdel-Rahman, Dean of the South Egypt Cancer Institute, met a delegation from Misr Bank Foundation for Society Service and Development including Ms. Hanaa Al-Bourimy, Director of the Foundation and Ms. Heba Hussein Foundation Program Director. The meeting also included Dr. Mostafa Al-Sharqawi, Chair of the Board of Directors of South Egypt Cancer Institute Friends Foundation and Dr. Hasan Osman, Director, University Hospital for Cancer. The visit is part of the Foundation's active donation of two million Egyptian Pounds as a start in the process of developing surgical rooms of the Institute and supplying all such rooms with Capsule System. This will definitely improve the medical service provided to the patients from all Upper Egyptian provinces.

Assiut University President, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis stated that the members of the Russian delegation of guest students at Assiut University have arrived at the Russian Embassy in Cairo to vote for their choices in the Russian Presidential Elections which was taking place at the Embassy that day. He also indicated that all possible procedures were taken into consideration to facilitate the travel of the Russian guest students (14 students, a supervisor and a Russian teacher from Pyatigorsk and Dagestan universities). This process derives out of the university's belief in the importance of this political right, and the role of the university therefore is to raise its students' awareness (whether Egyptian or international) and encourage them to participate positively in the political process. Russian guest students are here on a two-months-study visit at Assiut University.

4th Annual Conference of Assiut Clinical Oncology Department

Assiut University President, Dr. Ahmed A. Gaeis inaugurated the proceedings of the Annual Conference of the Dermatology Department entitled: "New Horizons for Dermatological Diseases and Plastic Surgeries" organized by the Department of Dermatology, Faculty of Medicine from 18-20 March, 2018. The conferences will pursue its sessions in Hurghada from 22-23 March. The event was attended by Dr. Ahmed Al-Menshawi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Azza Mahfouz, Chair, Department of Dermatology and Conference Chair, and Dr. Sahar Abdel- Moez, General Secretary of the Conference together with a number of Professors and Faculty Members from Assiut and several Egyptian universities and the Hospitals of the Ministry of Health.
