Psychological Distress and Quality of Life among
Diabetic Pregnant Women

Research Abstract
Pregnant women may experience specific and intense fears such as fear of incompetence and concerns about pain and loss of control during delivery, fear for their own life and the life of their baby and worries about changes in their personal life due to pregnancy and childbirth. Diabetes is categorized into two groups, preexisting diabetes and gestational diabetes. This study is concerned with assessing and identifying psychological distress and quality of life among diabetic and nondiabetic pregnant women. It was conducted at the obstetric and gynecological department at Assiut university hospital. The study consisted 200 pregnant women, among the subjects, 100 were diabetics and 100 non diabetics as a control group. Data were collected through two tools, depression anxiety stress scale and quality of life scale. The results of this study yielded that diabetic pregnant women had severe and extreme depression than non diabetics (X2 = 29. 32), Also they had severe and extreme anxiety and stress. Diabetic pregnant women had a moderate quality of life than non diabetics... The study recommended developing strategies to improve quality of life and emotional support for diabetic pregnant women.

Impact of Knowledge about Early Ambulation on Patients' Satisfaction Post Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, at Assiut University Hospital

Research Abstract
Percutaneous coronary intervention is a common procedure requiring expert nursing care delivered within an interdisci-plinary team. One of the most common treatments for CAD is percutaneous coronary intervention. Aim: This study was carried out to investigate the impact of knowledge aboutearly ambulation post percutaneous coro-nary intervention onpatients'satisfaction. Design: A quasi-experimental design. Setting: In catheterization and coronary care units. Subjects: A convenience sample of all adult educable and mentally competent male and female patients aged from (18- 60 years old) who had undergone a non-emergency c percu-taneous coronary intervention (PCI) through femoral artery during a period from July 2010 to June 2011 were eligible for inclusion in the sample. Tools: Four tools were utilized to collect data pertinent to the study. Tool I: Assessment of patients after femoral sheath removal and angioplasty related data. Tool II: Pre/post knowledge assessmentsheet. Tool III: Pre/postobservation check list sheet. Tool IV: Satisfaction assessment sheet. Methods: Pretestknowledge sheet filled out by the patient and observation checklist sheet was checked by the researcher for both groups, the teaching protocol has been implemented for patient in terms of session, each session ranged from 6- 10 patients for theoretical and practical contents, thenimme-diately post knowledge sheet testfilled out by the patient and observation checklist sheet was checked by the researcher for both groups. Mahgoub The Department of Critical Care Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Assiut University Results: Finding of the present study revealed thatsignif-icant improvement of all parameters with values of less than p=0.001 in response to give information among the two groups. Conclusion: Educating patients before percutaneous coronary intervention can effectively improve level of knowl-edge and satisfaction.

Awareness of Adolescent Girls about Basic Nutritional Needs during Pregnancy

Research Abstract
The present study Aimed To determine the awareness of adolescents towards basic nutritional needs during pregnancy. The study is a Descriptive Cross-Sectional study Conducted among two maternal and child health centers El Minia City. A convenient Sample composed of 120 adolescent girls. Tools of the study comprised of interview questionnaire (awareness assessment sheet) which separated into three parts, the first part was about (socio-demographic characteristics, nutritional needs and adolescent awareness of basic nutritional needs). Results: the present study Revealed that there is a significant difference on the level of knowledge of the respondents from the rural and urban areas with regards on the following items: the nutrients that should be more of them for pregnant, and the importance of folic acid component for pregnant and about of half of rural adolescents were not aware about basic nutritional needs during pregnancy. Conclusion: the present study concluded that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and the following socio-demographic characteristics: age, level of education, birth order, and mother’s educational attainment, also there is significant relationship between the level of awareness and the following socio-demographic characteristics: age, level of education. It was recommended that: The school education program for school girls about dietary education and nutritional needs at this age can improve the overall health and nutritional knowledge and status of adolescents.

Knowledge and Attitude of Caregivers Regarding Accident Prevention Among Disabled School Children in Minia Governorate.

Research Abstract
Prevention of accidents among disabled children is particularly important, because injuries suffered by these children tend to be more severe. There is an urgent need to address injury prevention and to improve safety standards for this group. This study aimed to assess knowledge and attitude of caregivers regarding accident prevention among disabled school children in Minia Governorate. Descriptive cross sectional research design was used. This study was conducted at the schools of disabled children in Minia city that serve Minia Governorate, which were Al-Fikria School, Al -Nour School and Al-Amal school. The current study included total coverage sample composed of all caregivers in these schools. Two tools were used included a structured interview questionnaire and attitude rating scale. There were statistically significant differences among caregiver's age, sex, level of education and first aid training in relation to their total score of knowledge about accident prevention. Also there were statistically significant differences among caregiver's education and first aid training in relation to their total score of attitude about accident prevention. The study concluded that more than one fifth of caregivers had poor knowledge, and less than one quarter of them had negative attitude about accident prevention. It recommended that providing preventive, first aid and emergency services related to injury prevention.

Nurses knowledge and performance regarding care for children with posioning at emergency unit

Research Abstract
Poisoning of children is one of the most common and important subject in the field of pediatric nursing. Many children are admitted to hospital because they have been poisoned by eating, drinking, or even inhaling poisonous substances. There are several unique aspects in the clinical assessment and management of childhood poisoning that need to be considered. So, the aims of this study were to assess the nurses' knowledge and practice about care given to the child with poisoning. A descriptive study design was carried out. The subjects included 30 nurses working in emergency unit of Assuit University Children Hospital. Data collection tools were a structured questionnaire interview sheet and an observation checklist. In conclusion, the study revealed deficiency in knowledge and practices. Statistically significant relations were shown between knowledge and practices among studied nurses. The study recommended developed program should be applied for nurses about care given to the child with poisoning.
