"Medical Miracle" Assiut team stops cardiac arrest and saves young man from death after a gunshot

Dr. El-Minshawy praises the efficiency of the medical team in rescuing a young man with a gunshot wound and quickly intervening to save his life, highlighting  the efficiency of the medical staff at Assiut University Hospitals, and highlighting the medical successes that reflect the level of distinguished health care at the university.

A  medical team at the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Trauma and Emergency Hospital at Assiut University succeeded in saving the life of a 25-year-old  man who was shot in the chest that led to cardiac arrest and severe bleeding.

The team was able to perform cardiac resuscitation and emergency surgery to repair the right lung without removing it, so that the patient was fully healed.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of the University, praised the speed and efficiency of the medical intervention, stressing that this success embodies the leadership of the university's hospitals in performing precise and rare surgeries with high skill.

Assiut University Week Harvest from 7 to 13 February 2025

Assiut University, headed by Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, has released its weekly harvest with infographics of the most prominent activities and events during the period from 7 to 13 February 2025.

The harvest included the participation of the President of the University in the meeting of the Council of Private Universities, a review of the performance report of the New Assiut University Hospital, the organization of the forum "Leaders of the Unions of the New Republic – Egypt 2030", and a symposium on "Science and its Impact on Building Awareness" with the participation of the Grand Mufti of the Republic.

The harvest also included a number of academic and community events, including the opening of scientific exhibitions and conferences, the disbursement of bonuses to employees, the organization of training programs on occupational safety, crises and disasters, in addition to various student activities that confirm the university's continued support for education, scientific research, and community service with the aim of highlighting the university's weekly efforts and enhancing communication and transparency with the university community and the public.

Assiut University Inaugurates the "Japanese Center for Education and Research Activities"

Opening of the Japanese Center for Education and Research Activities at Assiut University for faculty members, envoys, and students wishing to learn Japanese or obtain scholarships in Japan.

On Monday, February 24, 2025, Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, will inaugurate the Japan Center for Education and Research Activities, under the supervision of Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Dina Murad, Director of the Center.

The center aims to strengthen the frameworks of cooperation and scientific and cultural exchange between Assiut University and Japanese educational institutions, and to spread Japanese culture within the university. The center also provides training courses to learn the Japanese language, and qualify envoys and scholarship seekers, under the supervision of trainers accredited by the Japan Foundation in Cairo, in support of the university's efforts in academic openness and strengthening international relations.

The President of Assiut University Participates in the Meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities to Discuss the Development of Education and Scientific Research and Gaza's Support to Leaders and Faculty Members in Universities – Researchers – Students – Interested in Higher Education Policies, with the aim of: discussing the developments in the development of university education, maximizing the benefit of scientific research to serve the national economy, and following up on the state's directives in supporting our brothers in Gaza

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, participated in the regular meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, chaired by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which was held at the Ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting reviewed the implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic on supporting Gaza, and following up on the medical services provided to the wounded through university hospitals. The Council also discussed the development of the higher education system, the transformation of scientific research outputs into economic products that contribute to national development, in addition to spreading the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within universities.

The meeting witnessed the emphasis on the role of universities in implementing the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Human Building", launching development convoys to serve the community, and supporting talented and innovative students. It was also approved to open the database of scientific committees in preparation for the fifteenth session, in addition to following up on the efforts of universities in supporting the people of Gaza and implementing military education for female students in cooperation with the Popular and Military Defense Forces.

Assiut University maintains ISO Administrative Staff Renews ISO 9001:2015 Certificate for the Tenth Consecutive Year

Assiut University Renews the ISO Certificate (ISO 9001:2015) for the Tenth Consecutive Year for Administrative Staff Staff, Faculty Members, Students, and Those Interested in the Field of Quality and University Administration, with the aim of enhancing the culture of quality and excellence within the university, and confirming its commitment to administrative and academic performance standards in accordance with Egypt's Vision 2030

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, announced that the university's administrative staff has succeeded in obtaining the renewal of the ISO 9001:2015 certificate from the donor company for the tenth year in a row, after a comprehensive review of23 central and general departments with a total of 88 sub-departments, and ensuring that they meet the standard quality standards.

Dr.El-Minshawystressed that this achievement reflects the university's commitment to applying quality standards within its educational and administrative institutions, praising the role of the quality department in spreading the culture of excellence among the university's employees, and developing the administrative work environment to achieve the transformation towards a smart fourth-generation university.

He also praised the efforts of the work team under the supervision of Mr. Shawkat Saber, Secretary General of the University and General Supervisor of Quality, Dr. Buthaina Al-Fateh, Supervisor of Quality Management, and Mr. Mohamed Abbas, Director of the Quality and Excellence Department, stressing that this success represents a new step in the process of administrative reform and improving institutional performance at Assiut University.

The President of Assiut University receives the Saudi Pediatric Cardiology Consultant, Dr. Khaled Al-Attas, to enhance medical cooperation and exchange experiences for medical staff, young doctors, faculty members, and health workers, with the aim of enhancing academic and medical cooperation between Assiut University and specialized medical centers, and exchanging experiences and modern visions in the field of pediatric heart diseases and catheterization, in a way that contributes to the development of medical and therapeutic services

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received Dr. Khaled Amin Al-Attas, Consultant Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist and President of the um Al-Qura Heart Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on a scientific and medical visit aimed at discussing a number of cases of pediatric cardiac catheterization, and exchanging experiences on the latest therapeutic technologies in this field.

During the visit, the President of the University accompanied his guest on an inspection tour of the University Heart Hospital, which included cardiac catheterization units and the pediatric cardiac unit, where young doctors met and discussed real-life disease cases.

Dr. El-Minshawy valued the noble goal of the visit in supporting medical cooperation and developing the therapeutic services provided to patients, stressing that the University Heart Hospital is the largest in Upper Egypt to serve heart patients.

Dr. Al-Attas also expressed his appreciation for the distinguished level of medical staff at Assiut University, praising their capabilities and modern equipment that keep pace with international standards in the field of heart diseases and surgeries.

"Faculty of Medicine Without Smoking" Fourth Community Environmental Day at the Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University

The Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University organizes the Fourth Community Environmental Day under the slogan "The Faculty of Medicine without Smoke" for faculty members, doctors, administrators, and staff of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as those interested in public health and the environment.

 

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Meishawy, President of Assiut University, the Faculty of Medicine organized the fourth community environmental day entitled "The Faculty of Medicine Without Smoking", under the slogan "Our country... A Trust in Our Hands", on Sunday, February 23, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Huda Makhlouf, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Atef Al-Qarn, Professor of Al-Sadr and Today's Rapporteur.

The day covered awareness of the dangers of smoking, its effects on public health, and ways to quit it, in addition to discussing the World Health Organization Convention on Tobacco Control.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the importance of community awareness of the dangers of smoking and the role of educational institutions in spreading preventive health behaviors.

The day witnessed the participation of a group of professors and specialists who stressed the need to reduce smoking and activate anti-smoking programs within the college, with the announcement of the imminent opening of a smoking cessation clinic in the Chest Department.

The day ended with a number of recommendations, most notably the organization of awareness seminars in various colleges, the activation of the anti-smoking unit, and the implementation of the slogan "College of Medicine without Smoking" in a practical and sustainable manner.

The President of Assiut University Receives a Delegation from the Egyptian Center for Medical Research and Regenerative Medicine and the Chemical Warfare Department

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received a delegation from the Egyptian Center for Medical Research and Regenerative Medicine, led by Major General Dr. Tarek Taha, Deputy Director of the Center, and Colonel Hani Al-Nabrawi, Deputy Director of the Chemical Warfare Department, along with their accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Abdel-Fattah, Dean of the Institute of Molecular Biology Research and Studies.

The visit aimed to strengthen scientific and research cooperation between the university, the Egyptian Center, and the Chemical Warfare Department, coinciding with the second scientific conference on Applied Molecular Biology organized by the Institute. Dr.El-Minshawyemphasized the university's commitment to supporting research partnerships with specialized scientific institutions and keeping pace with the latest developments in applied research fields. He highlighted the importance of scientific research as a cornerstone for achieving comprehensive development and realizing Egypt's Vision 2030.

The President of Assiut University Witnesses the 58th Graduation Ceremony of the Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University held a grand ceremony to celebrate the graduation of its 58th batch of medical students, attended by distinguished faculty members, esteemed guests, and proud parents. The event aimed to:

  • Honor the graduating class of dedicated medical professionals
  • Recognize and reward outstanding achievements .
  • Inspire graduates to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics and pursue ongoing learning and professional development .

 

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, attended the ceremony, accompanied by Major General Hesham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, and other university and faculty leaders. During the ceremony, the Governor praised the faculty's exceptional medical staff for their contributions to the healthcare system. Dr.El-Minshawyextended his heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and their families, urging the new doctors to embody compassion, humanity, and dedication in their medical practice.

 

The Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Alaa Attia, encouraged the graduates to stay abreast of ongoing medical advancements, emphasizing the importance of continuous training and adherence to professional ethics. The ceremony also included a tribute to the families of outstanding graduates and a moment of silence in memory of the late Dr. Mohamed Sameh, creating an atmosphere filled with pride and joy.

The Faculty of Commerce at Assiut University organized a seminar on the role of religious institutions in promoting national identity and belonging under the slogan "Our Country is a Trust in Our Hands"

The seminar, titled "The Role of Religious Institutions in Enhancing National Identity and Belonging," was presented by Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Abdel Aal at the Faculty of Commerce to students, faculty members, and staff. The seminar aimed to:

  • Enhance national identity and belonging among students
  • Raise awareness among young people about the role of religious institutions in instilling national values and promoting citizenship

Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Faculty of Commerce organized this awareness seminar. Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Abdel Aal, a preacher in the Assiut region, delivered a lecture discussing the importance of national identity and the role of education, media, and religious institutions in promoting it. The seminar also addressed the challenges facing national identity in the era of globalization and concluded with an emphasis on the need to promote positive citizenship values and effective community participation. The event was attended by faculty leaders, students, and faculty members.
