The President of Assiut University receives the Saudi Pediatric Cardiology Consultant, Dr. Khaled Al-Attas, to enhance medical cooperation and exchange experiences for medical staff, young doctors, faculty members, and health workers, with the aim of enhancing academic and medical cooperation between Assiut University and specialized medical centers, and exchanging experiences and modern visions in the field of pediatric heart diseases and catheterization, in a way that contributes to the development of medical and therapeutic services

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received Dr. Khaled Amin Al-Attas, Consultant Pediatric Interventional Cardiologist and President of the um Al-Qura Heart Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on a scientific and medical visit aimed at discussing a number of cases of pediatric cardiac catheterization, and exchanging experiences on the latest therapeutic technologies in this field.

During the visit, the President of the University accompanied his guest on an inspection tour of the University Heart Hospital, which included cardiac catheterization units and the pediatric cardiac unit, where young doctors met and discussed real-life disease cases.

Dr. El-Minshawy valued the noble goal of the visit in supporting medical cooperation and developing the therapeutic services provided to patients, stressing that the University Heart Hospital is the largest in Upper Egypt to serve heart patients.

Dr. Al-Attas also expressed his appreciation for the distinguished level of medical staff at Assiut University, praising their capabilities and modern equipment that keep pace with international standards in the field of heart diseases and surgeries.

The Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University organizes the Fourth Community Environmental Day under the slogan "The Faculty of Medicine without Smoke" for faculty members, doctors, administrators, and staff of the Faculty of Medicine, as well as those interested in public health and the environment.

 

Under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed El-Meishawy, President of Assiut University, the Faculty of Medicine organized the fourth community environmental day entitled "The Faculty of Medicine Without Smoking", under the slogan "Our country... A Trust in Our Hands", on Sunday, February 23, under the supervision of Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Aleem, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Huda Makhlouf, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Atef Al-Qarn, Professor of Al-Sadr and Today's Rapporteur.

The day covered awareness of the dangers of smoking, its effects on public health, and ways to quit it, in addition to discussing the World Health Organization Convention on Tobacco Control.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy stressed the importance of community awareness of the dangers of smoking and the role of educational institutions in spreading preventive health behaviors.

The day witnessed the participation of a group of professors and specialists who stressed the need to reduce smoking and activate anti-smoking programs within the college, with the announcement of the imminent opening of a smoking cessation clinic in the Chest Department.

The day ended with a number of recommendations, most notably the organization of awareness seminars in various colleges, the activation of the anti-smoking unit, and the implementation of the slogan "College of Medicine without Smoking" in a practical and sustainable manner.

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, received a delegation from the Egyptian Center for Medical Research and Regenerative Medicine, led by Major General Dr. Tarek Taha, Deputy Director of the Center, and Colonel Hani Al-Nabrawi, Deputy Director of the Chemical Warfare Department, along with their accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Amr Abdel-Fattah, Dean of the Institute of Molecular Biology Research and Studies.

The visit aimed to strengthen scientific and research cooperation between the university, the Egyptian Center, and the Chemical Warfare Department, coinciding with the second scientific conference on Applied Molecular Biology organized by the Institute. Dr.El-Minshawyemphasized the university's commitment to supporting research partnerships with specialized scientific institutions and keeping pace with the latest developments in applied research fields. He highlighted the importance of scientific research as a cornerstone for achieving comprehensive development and realizing Egypt's Vision 2030.

The Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University held a grand ceremony to celebrate the graduation of its 58th batch of medical students, attended by distinguished faculty members, esteemed guests, and proud parents. The event aimed to:

  • Recognize and reward outstanding achievements .

Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, attended the ceremony, accompanied by Major General Hesham Abu Al-Nasr, Governor of Assiut, and other university and faculty leaders. During the ceremony, the Governor praised the faculty's exceptional medical staff for their contributions to the healthcare system. The 16th International Oncology Conference, hosted by the Oncology Department at Assiut University Faculty of Medicine under the banner The New in Cancer Treatment (2024), drew researchers, physicians, and specialists from Egyptian universities and medical centers both domestically and abroad to:

The second annual conference on infection prevention and control at Assiut University Hospitals—convened under the theme Strategies for a Sustainable Infection-Free Future—brings together physicians, pharmacists, nursing teams, and hospital staff from both university and Ministry of Health facilities to:

  • Debate cutting-edge protocols and practices in infection control while elevating standards of patient care.
  • Heighten professional awareness of infection-prevention policies and GAHAR accreditation benchmarks.
  • Sharpen workforce skills in antimicrobial stewardship and containment of infectious outbreaks.
