Mechatronics Program

Mechatronics Program
Overview

The Mechatronics Engineering program integrates mechanical, control, electrical, electronics, and computer engineering synergistically in order to build innovative components and systems to realize functional and smart products.

Mechatronics is a combination of “mechanisms” and “electronics.” However, a degree in mechatronics incorporates so much more. This program gives you a broad range of knowledge and skills in (Manufacturing processes- Statistics-Mechatronic control systems and programmable logic controllers- The physical and chemical properties of materials used in industry- Machine design elements and kinematics-Computer-integrated manufacturing.)

Mining and Metallurgical Engineering Department

Mining and Metallurgical Engineering Department
Overview

Overview

Mining and metallurgical engineering graduates should be aware of the application of the new technologies in the prospection of ores as well as building materials in order to exploit the Egyptian mineral ideally. In order to achieve this goal, students must understand basic sciences besides the studied courses in mining and metallurgical fields. The department also qualifies the graduate for granting Diploma, Master and Doctoral degrees in different branches of mining and metallurgical engineering. It carries out the applied research in mining and metallurgical fields to solve the problems in order to meet the societal needs and demands of development fields, as well as keeping up with the technological and scientific advances. Moreover,  The department is ready to supply the organizations as well as production institutions related to the field with experiences and consultations in order to serve and develop the upper Egyptian community

Mining and metallurgical engineering department aims to:

  1. Graduate engineers who are able to work in mines and metals factories.
  2. Help industry fields in the country by providing them with hard workers Engineering consultancies.
  3. Graduate engineers who are able to work in surface surveying and mining field.
  4. Prepare graduates for being able to compete in the labor market with a complete awareness of using modern technologies in the detection of raw and construction materials.
  5. Qualify graduates for granting Diploma, Masters, and Doctoral degrees in different branches of mining and metallurgical engineering.
  6. Qualify its graduates for competitions in the working market.

Architecture Engineering Department

Architecture Engineering Department
Overview

The mission of the department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering –AUN is providing a distinguished architectural and urban planning education that is unique in both its diversity as well as its specialization. An Architecture graduate must have the power of imagination, intellect, and empathy with human needs; in addition to, the ability to interpret them in an architectural language that is both contextual and relevant. Adaptable to change and proves an asset for years to come.

The department of Architecture aims to set aside a clear vision of the complementary nature of the architectural design and to identify the strategic, cultural, social, and aesthetic needs; in addition to, the awareness of technical and legal knowledge. Moreover, it intends to deepen the knowledge of architectural expertise to facilitate the process of student understanding of the architectural vocabulary used in the architectural design, as well as strengthening drawings skills and 3-D problems solving capability.

History:

  • In 1959, the committee took the decision to introduce the Department of Architecture Engineering, then in 1960/1961, the study begun.
  • From 1959 to 1963, the Architecture Engineering Department was occupying the basement and the first floor of the Mathematic department in the faculty of science.
  • Later, in the academic year 1963/1964 the department moved to the 4th floor in the Mechanical engineering department.
  • Then, In the academic year 1984/1985 A new building for Architecture was completed; The department’s building is in an area of 6000 m2, and the building consists of three floors.
  • An Engineering student must first pass the preparatory year, then specialize in Architecture. The required period of study in the department is four years plus the preparatory year in order to obtain a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering.

Civil Engineering Department

Civil Engineering Department
Overview
  • Civil Engineering Department aims to produce civil engineers that acquire the basic and applied sciences and skills to meet the internationally needed standards.
  • The department mission is raising graduates’ skills through offering specialized training courses and workshops, in addition to, offering postgraduate programs (Diploma, Masters, and PhD). Moreover, the department contributes in serving the society through its faculty members' participations in the Engineering Studies and Consulting Center at the University for designing and supervising civil projects as well as giving suitable treatment for defects that may arise in different Upper Egypt facilities.

History:

  • In 1957, the committee took the decision to introduce the Department of Civil Engineering, then in 1958/1959, the study begun.
  • From 1958 to 1988, the Civil Engineering Department was occupying the basement and the first floor in the building of the old University, then, in the academic year 1988/1989 the department moved to a new building in the new University.
  • The department’s building is in an area of more than 7000 m2 and the building consists of four floors; in addition to a basement.

Vision Mission and Objectives

The Vision:

Leadership and distinction in establishing a knowledge–based society in the field of civil engineering.

The Mission:

The mission of the program is to prepare highly competitive graduates in the labor market, by offering distinguished academic content that combines project-based learning with exposure to a broad background of fundamentals in the various disciplines of Civil Engineering. The mission of the program extends to establish the necessary values of knowledge, skills, and professional ethics in the graduates to make effective contributions to society, whether at the local, regional, or global level.

The Objectives:

  1. Preparing graduates who are able to use modern technical tools in engineering projects, with the ability to practice analysis, creativity and self-learning in the field of civil engineering.
  2. Carrying out various studies and research that provide solutions to the problems of engineering projects through postgraduate programs that are able to keep pace with the continuous technical changes.
  3. Work in partnership with foreign and Arab universities, whether in the scope of the undergraduate program or in postgraduate programs and scientific research.
  4. Satisfying the needs of the local and regional labor market and the development movement in the major construction projects sector, according to the latest international methods and techniques of civil engineering.
  5. The Main Attributes of the Graduates.

In addition to the attribute of engineering graduate the civil engineering graduate must be able to

  1. Act professionally in the engineering design and supervision of different civil engineering projects.
  2. Comprehend the first principles in engineering design, with the ability to use codes of practice in different disciplines of civil engineering.
  3. Think analytically to solve complex problems that may show up during work and to be able to take quick decisions.
  4. Use the computer applications in engineering design for civil engineering projects and in preparing their shop drawings.
  5. Manage the different components of construction sites, prepare time schedules, and evaluate the progress rates.
  6. Select appropriate building materials from the perspective of strength, durability, and different environmental conditions.
  7. Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies and carry out field inspections and examinations.
