Geography is one of the most exciting subjects to study at university. We live in an interdependent world caught up in chains of events that span the globe. We depend upon an increasingly fragile physical environment, whose complex interactions require sophisticated analysis and sensitive management.The Geography Department is one of the leading departments accompanied the establishment of the faculty of Arts.

Geographers study the material and symbolic transformation of the earth in relationship to both human and natural processes. In keeping with contemporary global shifts in culture, the environment, politics and economics, the boundaries of the geographic discipline are dynamic. Geography is both a natural science and social science as it examines people and their environment and serves as a bridge between the physical and cultural worlds. 

Assiut University is one of the oldest regional universities and the first university in Upper Egypt. Therefore, society in this strategic location will make use of such studies in widening their horizons and methods of viewing matters.

The department believes that it will represent a new platform for studying Hebrew Language and Literature in the Egyptian Universities by exerting the right efforts.

Hebrew Language and Literature department aims to present a knowledgeable message based on the Jewish culture while casting the spotlight on how the Islamic ideology affected Judaism through various studies which include: linguistics, literature, society, and religion.

The Department of Eastern Languages ​​seeks to transfer knowledge about different cultures to Egyptian society through linguistic, literary, societal, and religious studies.

To become a distinguished and specialized scientific center in the field of oriental studies in southern Egypt, considering that Assiut University is the oldest regional university and the oldest university in southern Egypt in order for the society in this important region to benefit from these studies in order to develop and advance it and to link with Egyptian, Arab, and international community.

We offer access to a vivacious array of English literature and ideas, where we ask students to embrace new ways of thinking about the world and new possibilities of expression.

Generally, literature refers to different types of books, including novels, non-fiction, poetry, and plays, among other forms. However, literature is a contested term, as new mediums for communication provide different types of contemporary literature.

By studying a degree of English Literature, you will learn how to analyze a multitude of texts and write clearly using several different styles.

Overview

To have effective communication with other people, you need first to understand their language. In this department, we aim to develop a perfect comprehensive familiarity with the French language.

For the French people, French literature is a national pride for centuries, and it has been one of the most influential components of the literature of Europe. Hence, to enforce relations between Egypt and France and to gain a deep understanding of their culture and the way they think we are delivering a sophisticated program understand of French literature.

We have a unique academic program that focuses on delivering courses that simulate modern and contemporary developments in the French language with its literature, to qualify our students to work in different fields like media institutions and translations.

Overview

Arabic language is part of our identity, so we consider promoting and preserving it as one of our duties toward our Arab world. 

Arabic language and literature department is one of the specialized academic departments in the faculty of Arts in Assiut University. Our role is to promote academic research and develop essential skills in the fields of Arabic literature in different areas; comparative literature, Andalusian literature, Syntax and etymology, and other linguistic sciences such as Eloquence and Islamic sciences “Tafsir and Hadith”, which will help our graduates play an influential role in serving our mother tongue and mitigate globalization negative effects on the Arabic language.
