Assiut University Holds Forum to Discuss Constitutional Issues with Members of the Constitution Founding Committee

Under the auspices of Dr Mostafa M. Kamal, President of Assiut University, the Faculty of Law organizes an open forum on Wednesday, Oct.17, 2012. Guest will include: Dr. Emad Hussein, Chancellor of the President of the Republic, and member of the Constitution Founding Committee; Chancellor Edwar Ghally. Chairman of the committee for Rights and Freedoms; Rev. Safwat Al Bayaddi; and Dr Mohammed Al-Beltagy, members of the Committee. Dr Hisham Rustom Professor of Criminal Law, Faculty of Law, Assiut University, coordinator of the forum indicated that the forum is an activity through which the university provides to the community. It also reflects the role of the university in enlightenment and care for National issues, in addition to its assertion of the principle of societal participation in the preparation of a Constitution that meets all the aspirations and goals of the nation, together with the values and principles of 25 January Revolution through open discussion and exchange of viewpoints.

19 Malaysian Students Join the Faculty of Dentistry, Assiut University

For the first time in history, Assiut University receives the first delegation of 19 Malaysian students to study Dentistry, at the Assiut University Faculty of Dentistry having just commencing this academic year. The delegation is supervised by Dr. Razali Nawawi, President of the Quran Sciences Academy, Malaysia. Dr. Nawawi declared that this delegation is considered the first batch to be followed by a number of subsequent future batches to be sponsored by the Academy to study at Egyptian universities. On their part, the Malaysians students expressed their fascination by Assiut University, pointing out that the outstanding reputation of the University, especially in the Medical field was the reason that prompted them to decide to come over and join this university. Likewise, they showed a very positive reaction towards Egyptian students and the Egyptian revolution and wished that it will inspire a start of the unity and power the Islamic countries. Besides, Assiut University President, Prof. Mustafa Kamal, expressed his happiness with this unprecedented event for international students to come from developed countries such as Malaysia to study medicine at Assiut University. Prof Kamal emphasized that the University will save no effort to provide all possible means for comfortable academic climate, like the University normally does with other international students so that they become representative ambassadors of Assiut University in their countries. Prof Kamal added that this delegation is by all means considered an excellent start of the Egyptian-Malaysian cooperation in the field of education and cultural development. Dr. Nasser Shimi, the Academic Coordinator of the Dental Program indicated that this event reflects the good marketing and reputation of Assiut abroad. He also declared that the Dental Program at Assiut University, for the time being, relies on the Bylaw of the Dental Program in Cairo University. Insofar, Prof Shimi asserted that the university will provide all facilities to increase the number of international students.

Garments Charity Fair

Under the auspices of Dr. Mustafa Kamal, President of Assiut University, Dr. Adel Ryan, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs opened the first Charity Fair for garments for students. All garments are sold at low prices ranging from 2 to 50 LE. a piece. The fair included garments and more. It was sponsored by the donations of individuals and commercial shops.

Nuclear Medicine Unit opens at South Egypt Cancer Institute

Under the auspices of Prof. Mostafa Kamal, President of Assiut University, and in completion of its leading role, South Egypt Cancer Institute, the Nuclear Medicine celebrates its opening to be an addition as one of the latest units of this type in Egypt. The event was attended by Prof. Adel Ryan and Prof. Ahmed Abdu Jaeis, Vice Presidents of the University together with Dr. Sekitory Ahmed, Consultant and Head of Tumors Department, University of Manchester, England. Dr. Mahmoud Mostafa, Dean of the Institute declared that the Unit is the outcome of scientific cooperation with the Ministry of International Cooperation. It aims at providing the Institute with the latest capabilities and devices to cope with the development of the age. He added that the Unit is supplied by the latest gamma camera with compact scan device costing about 5 million and a half Egyptian pounds and that this apparatus will contribute to early and rapid diagnosis of tumors and henceforth identifying and improving the ratios of recovery among patients.
