Prof. Dr. Samah Mohamed Abdullah, Dean of the College, received Mr. Dr. Abdel Hamid Mahrous Abdel Hamid, a representative of the American Heart Association for technical support to prepare certified trainers for the Basic Life Support Center (CPR)

 from the American Heart Association. This coincided with the college's keeping pace with the continuous development plan in various educational and service fields.
Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Samah Mohamed Abdullah, Dean of the College, and Ms. Dr. Amal Sayed Mohamed, Senior Coordinator at the Center and Certified Trainer, and the Center's Board of Directors team, received Mr. Dr. Abdel Hamid Mahrous Abdel Hamid in preparation for increasing the number of trainers at the center to select 7 members who have passed (essential course). Then the (lnstuctor course) course, and the rest of the course will be completed to prepare them as certified trainers from the American Heart Association in the Basic Life Support Center.

Headed by Professor Dr. Samah Mohamed Abdullah, Dean of the College and Chairman of the College Council, the council began by thanking all attendees of the council for their efforts during the exams and congratulating all members of Assiut University on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.
She also reviewed the developments that have been achieved in the laboratories, including the purchase of models and modern equipment in recent times. The council also discussed various topics for the department councils as well as the various sectors of the college. Professor Dr. also stated that the administrative excellence team at the college has completed the application file for the Egypt Award for Government Excellence in colleges at the level of Egyptian universities after the college won second place as the best distinguished college and qualified it at the republic level among the three winning colleges at the university. Effect of a Training Program about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy on Sleep Quality among the Older Per

Research Abstract

Background: Sleep problems are the most important issues that need attention, cognitive behavioral therapy has positively improved sleep quality among older person. Aim: To evaluate the effect of training program about cognitive behavioral therapy on sleep quality among the older persons. Design: A Quasi-experimental (pre and post-test). Setting: All geriatric clubs in Assiut city. Sample: 81 older person aged from (60 to 70 and more) who complained from sleeping problems. Tools: I. Personal characteristics, II. Comorbidities questionnaire, III. Pittsburgh sleep quality index to measure the quality and patterns of sleep, IV. Epworth sleepiness scale to measure daytime sleepiness and diagnoses sleep disorders, V. Geriatric anxiety scale and VI. Geriatric depression scale. Results: Musculoskeletal problems were most prevalent with 50.6% followed by high blood pressure 48.1%. Epworth sleepiness scale was affected by sex and living status in preprogram P-value= 0.027 and 0.003 while not affected in post-program P-value=0.307 and 0.056; moreover, affected by high blood pressure and pulmonary diseases in pre and post program. Pittsburgh sleep quality index affected by practicing exercise in preprogram P-value=0.019 and wasn’t significance in post program P-value=0.252, it affected by heart diseases in preprogram P- value=0.000 while with pulmonary diseases and diabetes mellitus in post program P-value=0. 042 and 0.007. Conclusion: These results support the use of training cognitive behavioral therapy for improving sleeping quality. Training program about cognitive-behavioral therapy for improving sleep quality is recommended for older adult

Training Program for Girls with Hearing Disability about Breast Self Examination in Assiut City

Research Abstract

Background: Girls with hearing disability continue to undervalue the practice of breast selfexamination, despite Egypt's ever-expanding programs to raise breast cancer awareness. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of the training program for girls with hearing disability about breast selfexamination in Assiut City. Research Design: Quantitative research pre/post one group intervention design was applied. Setting: Al-aml school for dumb and deaf girls in Assiut City. Subjects: A convenient sample was used to include 153 adolescent girls with hearing disability. Data collection tools: Two tools were utilized: Tool one: Designed interview questionnaire comprised from three parts: Part (1): Personal data, part (2): Girls’ family history of breast cancer and data about breast selfexamination and part (3): Questions to assess knowledge of girls regarding breast cancer and breast selfexamination. Tool II: Breast self-examination observational checklist. Results: It noticed from the current results that 46% of girls aged less than 18 years, 90.8% from rural area, 71.9% weren’t know about breast self-examination. The girls’ mean of knowledge and practices regarding breast selfexamination was in pre-program 12.28 and 2.26 while it enhanced to be 36.03 and 9.67 with significant improvement after the program application. Conclusion: The training program improved knowledge and practices of breast self-examination among girls with hearing disability. Recommendations: Continuous training program about breast self-examination for girls with special need to increase their awareness regarding early detection of breast cancer.
