The Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Nursing, Assiut University, in cooperation with the Gynecological Oncology Unit at the Women's Health Hospital, organized an awareness event on the prevention and early detection of cervical cancer. The event took place on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the conference hall at the Faculty of Nursing. The event included a lecture on the importance of early detection of cervical cancer, presented by Professor Dr. Alaa El-Din Ismail - Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Head of the Gynecological Oncology Unit at the Women's Health Hospital, and a lecture on vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV), presented by Professor Dr. [Name Missing]. Hisham Abu Taleb, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and on the sidelines of the event, mineral levels were measured for attendees, and advice was given on how to avoid the dangers of mineral deficiencies.

 

Professor Dr. Fatima Rushdi, Dean of the Faculty, spoke about the importance of community and nursing work in raising community awareness about prevention and its various methods. Professor Dr. Nahed Shawkat Abu Al-Magd, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, added that the Faculty of Nursing is keen to participate in and activate presidential initiatives.

 

At the beginning of the event, Professor Dr. Fatima Rushdi Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, spoke about the importance of this seminar in raising health awareness regarding the early detection of cervical cancer, emphasizing the university's role in providing continuous health education and active participation in national initiatives aimed at protecting lives and promoting public health. Professor Dr. Nahed Shawkat Abu El-Magd, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, emphasized the importance of the state's role in supporting these health and awareness events. She noted that such events fall within the framework of the Presidential Initiative for Early Detection of Cancer, which aims to reduce the spread of the disease through awareness and early detection.

 

Event Objective:

 

The event aims to raise health awareness among medical professionals and women in general about cervical cancer, methods of prevention and early diagnosis, and the importance of regular checkups for early cancer detection.
