The Faculty of Education Announces the Organization of the Seventy-Sixth Course for the Preparation of University Teachers at Assiut University

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, and under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Education at Assiut University organizes the seventy-sixth course for university teacher preparation, for faculty assistants and researchers.

The course will be held from Sunday, February 1 to Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at the headquarters of the Faculty of Education at Assiut University, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr Hassan Mohamed Huwail, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Chairman of the course.

The course aims to develop the academic and educational capabilities of faculty assistants, and raise their efficiency in the fields of university teaching, scientific research, and evaluation, in a way that contributes to the preparation of qualified academic cadres capable of keeping pace with the requirements of development in the higher education system.

The course is supervised by Dr. Amani Mohamed Sharif, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development and course rapporteur, as it includes an integrated training program that combines theoretical and applied aspects.

The college explained that registration and payment of fees is done at the headquarters of the College of Education, the administrative building, the second floor, the secretariat of the vice dean for community service and environmental development, stressing that it welcomes all those wishing to join the course.

The Vice President of Assiut University inspects the central laboratories and the roof cultivation project at the Faculty of Agriculture

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, conducted a field tour to inspect the central laboratories and the roof cultivation project at the Faculty of Agriculture, within the framework of following up on the research and environmental services provided by the laboratories, and the applied models produced by the roof cultivation project in support of sustainable development, in the presence of Dr. Adel MohamedMahmoud, Dean of the Faculty.

Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy stressed that the university is keen to support applied scientific research and link it to the issues of society and sustainable development, pointing out that the central laboratories represent one of the main pillars of the research system at the university, because of the technical capabilities and modern equipment that serve researchers and contribute to the development of the educational and research process.

He added that the rooftop farming project reflects the university's orientation towards adopting innovative and environmentally friendly solutions, maximizing the use of available resources, and spreading the culture of sustainability within and outside the university community, in line with the country's vision for sustainable development and facing environmental challenges.

During the tour, the Vice President of the University was accompanied by Dr. Galal Abdel Fattah, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Mohamed Al-Saghir, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Karam Abdel Naim, Supervisor of the Central Laboratories, Dr. Mohamed Islam, Scientific Supervisor of the Roof Cultivation Project, and Eng. Rehab Mohamed, Secretary of the Faculty, along with a group of faculty members, their assistants, and employees of the College.

For his part, Professor Mohamed Adawy expressed his appreciation for the distinguished level of services provided by the central laboratories at the College of Agriculture, stressing that they represent one of the main pillars to support the research process, as it includes modern equipment and qualified technical cadres capable of conducting accurate analyses and tests that serve researchers in various agricultural and environmental disciplines, as well as its role in providing analytical and consulting services to farmers and productive institutions inside and outside the university.

The Vice President also praised the rooftop farming project at the college, which is one of the leading projects in the field of sustainable agriculture, and aims to exploit the unused areas in buildings to produce safe and environmentally friendly agricultural crops, which contributes to improving air quality, spreading the culture of home farming, and rationalizing resource consumption.

In the same context, Dr. Adel Mohamed Mahmoud explained that the central laboratories at the Faculty of Agriculture include a number of specialized units, including: the Chemical Analysis Laboratory, the Molecular Biology Laboratory, the Tissue Culture Laboratory, the Microbiology Laboratory, and the ICSI Unit, pointing out that they provide a variety of services that include scientific and research support, specialized analytical services, biobiology services and subspecialties, in addition to training and capacity building services through the implementation of specialized training courses in modern technologies, and practical training programs For students and researchers to qualify them for the labor market, as well as training programs for agricultural engineers, technicians, and workers in the productive sectors.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture added that the rooftop farming project is an important applied model that links scientific research with practical application, and contributes to raising the awareness of students and the community about the importance of sustainable agricultural practices and their role in facing environmental challenges and climate change.

The Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University Organizes the Tenth Community Environmental Day Entitled: "Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners... What it has and what it has in terms of medical and health."

Under the patronage of Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of Assiut University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Medicine organized today, Tuesday, January 20, the activities of the Tenth Community Environmental Day, which came this year under the title: "Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners: What They Have and What They Have from a Medical and Health Perspective", under the supervision of: Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Adawi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals, and Dr. Huda Makhlouf. Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Medhat El-Araby, Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine, and Rapporteur of the Day.

The activities witnessed the participation of Dr. Khaled Abdulaziz, Director of the Main University Hospital, along with a number of professors, faculty members, assistant staff, interns, and staff, as part of the university's keenness to promote health awareness and community service.

Professor Ahmed El-Menshawy stressed that the organization of the tenth Community Environmental Day of the Faculty of Medicine reflects the university's role in serving the community and spreading health awareness, especially in issues related to nutrition and public health, pointing out that the discussion of the topic of sugar and artificial sweeteners comes at an important time with the increase in non-communicable diseases, stressing the university's keenness to provide evidence-based scientific messages that contribute to improving lifestyles and promoting health prevention among citizens.

Professor Mohamed Adawy stressed that raising health awareness about nutrition and public health issues is an urgent necessity in light of the remarkable rise in the rates of non-communicable diseases, especially diabetes, obesity, and metabolic disorders, pointing out that the dissemination of health culture is a key pillar to achieve sustainable development and improve the quality of life.

For his part, Dr. Alaa Attia explained that the College of Medicine and university hospitals are keen to keep pace with scientific developments in the fields of treatment and community service, stressing that the organization of this scientific day comes from the leading societal role of the college, especially that sugar and artificial sweeteners are an essential part of the contemporary dietary pattern, which necessitates discussing their health effects in the short and long term, and supporting conscious and evidence-based dietary decisions.

Dr. Huda Makhlouf stressed the continuation of the organization of the activities of the Environmental Day with the support of the university administration and the college, pointing out its importance in environmental and community awareness, and highlighting sugar consumption patterns and their various health effects.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Aziz pointed out that there is permanent cooperation between university hospitals and the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the College of Medicine to support health awareness efforts, explaining that the theme of the Environmental Day is one of the vital issues that affect the health of the community, and contributes to educating citizens about the dangers of excessive consumption of sugar and artificial sweeteners.

In the same context, Dr. Medhat Al-Arabi explained that the activities of the Environmental Day included several specialized scientific lectures, including:

His lecture is entitled: "Sugar Substitute Sweeteners: Health Risks and Metabolic Effects Supported by Scientific Evidence". A lecture by Dr. Maryam Rushdi Al-Khayyat, Assistant Professor of Public Health, entitled: "Types and Characteristics of Sugar Sweeteners in the Market". A lecture by Dr. Doaa Mohamed Abdel Rahman, Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine, entitled: "Potential Toxic Damages in the Short and Long Term of Alternative Sugar Sweeteners."

The activities also included a lecture by Dr. Marwa Abdel Haq, Lecturer of Sugar Industry Technology at the Faculty of Sugar Industry Technology, entitled: "Sugar Cultivation and its Consumption Patterns in Egypt Compared to Global Rates." A lecture by Dr. Islam Mahmoud, Lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture, entitled: "The Quality of the Sugar Industry in Egypt: Health Standards, Control and Quality Systems, and Food Safety Challenges."

On the sidelines of the events, a range of health services were provided to the participants, including measuring body composition using the InBody device, conducting random and cumulative glucose tests, and measuring blood pressure, as part of the university's support for its societal and preventive role and promoting the culture of early detection and health care.

 

Assiut University’s Software and Computing Technology Unit Discusses Plans to Develop Technological Services and Promote Digital Transformation on Campus

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, held a meeting today, Sunday, 4 January, with the Board of Directors of the University’s Software and Computing Technology Unit. The meeting addressed several administrative matters and reviewed the unit’s objectives, activities, and role in supporting and developing the university community.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized the university’s commitment to developing its digital infrastructure and modernizing administrative and academic systems. He highlighted that establishing the Software and Computing Technology Unit represents a major step toward increasing reliance on locally developed software solutions, created by the university’s own staff, which contributes to cost efficiency, innovation, and building advanced capabilities in digital transformation.

Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy explained that the unit’s creation aligns with Assiut University’s strategic direction toward digital transformation, automating administrative and technical work, and enhancing the efficiency of services provided across all university sectors.

He further noted that the unit’s responsibilities include designing and developing professional-level software to automate various university departments, transferring technical expertise to other governmental institutions, strengthening Assiut University’s pioneering role in community service and environmental development, and participating in scientific and research projects that require specialized software and systems.

Professor Adawy added that the unit also produces software suitable for commercial marketing to meet local market needs, in addition to providing technical support for routine and minor computer issues across the university, ensuring continuity of work and improving overall efficiency.

Vice President of Assiut University Inspects Street Beautification and Green Spaces on Campus

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, conducted an inspection tour today, Sunday, 4 January, to follow up on street beautification and green space maintenance across the university campus. He was accompanied by Professor Mohamed Mostafa Hamd, General Supervisor of the Committee for Green Space Maintenance.

The visit comes as part of the university’s comprehensive plan to develop public facilities, enhance green areas, and improve the aesthetic appearance of streets and sidewalks, contributing to a safe, healthy, and attractive campus environment for students and staff.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that the university prioritizes developing the campus environment, including upgrading services and providing a distinguished educational and health-oriented environment. He highlighted that enhancing green spaces and the university’s aesthetic appeal aligns with the university’s vision of building a sustainable campus community and supporting environmentally friendly practices, in accordance with Egypt’s national sustainable development policies.

Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy explained that these inspection tours aim to monitor the implementation of the university’s plan to improve public facilities and develop green spaces on campus. He noted that attention to cleanliness, aesthetics, and the maintenance of sidewalks and walkways contributes to providing a safe, organized environment that reflects Assiut University’s academic and cultural standing.

Professor Mohamed Mostafa Hamd added that the committee’s responsibilities include overseeing the care and beautification of green spaces, monitoring and maintaining damaged sidewalks, and implementing periodic programs to develop public facilities, thereby raising awareness of the importance of preserving green areas and enhancing the quality of services offered on campus.

Assiut University Continues Efforts to Address Climate Change and Ensure Maximum Safety

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Committee for Monitoring the Removal of Obstructions, Maintaining Green Spaces, and Beautifying Campus Streets continued its fieldwork to inspect rainwater drainage systems and ensure that building rooftops are clear of any obstructions that could impede water flow. These measures are part of the university’s early preparedness for expected weather fluctuations and climate change, aiming to achieve the highest levels of safety and security across the campus. The efforts are conducted under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that the university operates under an integrated vision to enhance the safety and security system across the campus by maintaining a high state of readiness in all sectors and adopting a proactive approach to potential weather or climate developments. This approach ensures the protection of lives and property while providing a safe and stable learning environment. He also highlighted the importance of full coordination between all relevant sectors to enhance response efficiency and minimize potential risks.

In this context, the committee conducted field visits to several faculties and institutes. On Wednesday, December 31, Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy carried out an inspection tour at the Institute of Molecular Biology, accompanied by Dr. Amr Abdel-Fattah, Dean of the Institute, and Professor Heba Attia Yassi, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.

The Vice President also toured the Faculty of Nursing, in the presence of Professor Fatma Rushdi, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Nahed Shoukatt, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Professor Ikram Ibrahim, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research. The tour aimed to ensure the readiness of rainwater drainage systems on building rooftops and to verify that faculty and institute administrations are adhering to safety and security requirements, thereby minimizing potential risks during heavy rainfall or extreme weather conditions.

Professor Mohamed Adawy affirmed that Assiut University prioritizes raising preparedness levels across all its sectors and maintaining a proactive approach to potential climate developments. He noted that continuous field monitoring is a key pillar for supporting the university’s safety system, protecting lives and property, and improving the campus environment while achieving sustainable development objectives.

Professor Mohamed Mostafa Hamd, General Coordinator of the Committee, explained that the inspection tour also included monitoring the maintenance and beautification of green spaces and reviewing deteriorated sidewalks. These efforts contribute to improving the university’s urban aesthetics, enhancing its adaptability to climate changes, monitoring agricultural pest control indicators, and inspecting old or damaged trees to ensure the safety of university members while promoting environmental sustainability on campus.

The committee is scheduled to continue its inspection tours in the coming period, including visits to the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Sugar Technology and Integrated Industries, the Faculty of Social Work, the Faculty of Specific Education, and the South Egypt Cancer Institute.

 

 

Board Meeting of the Conference and Guest House Center at Assiut University Reviews Service Development and Resource Optimization

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Board of Directors of the Conference and Guest House Center held its regular December 2025 meeting to review ongoing operations and discuss ways to develop and enhance the services provided. The meeting was attended by Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Professor Adel Mohamed Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, University Secretary Shawkat Saber, and other board members.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that the university is committed to continuously improving the services of the Conference and Guest House Center, considering them as key interfaces that reflect the university’s institutional image and service standards. He affirmed that efforts are ongoing to update operational infrastructure and improve efficiency, contributing to maximizing resources and achieving financial sustainability, while ensuring high-quality services that reflect the prestige and community role of Assiut University.

Professor Mohamed Adawy explained that the meeting addressed several topics and decisions aimed at developing the guest house services and improving management efficiency, thereby enhancing overall performance and optimizing available resources. “Cold-Related Illnesses and Their Prevention” – Faculty of Medicine at Assiut University Holds Ninth Community Environmental Day

Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Medicine, in collaboration with the Assiut Chest Association, organized the ninth Community Environmental Day on Monday, December 29, under the theme “Cold-Related Illnesses and Their Prevention.” The event was held under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development; Professor Alaa Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Professor Hoda Makhlouf, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Professor Atef El-Qarn, President of the Assiut Chest Association and Coordinator of the event.

The activities were attended by Professor Khaled Abdel Aziz, Director of the Main University Hospital, alongside a distinguished group of faculty members, teaching assistants, nursing teams, and staff, reflecting the university’s commitment to promoting health awareness and serving the community.

The event featured a series of specialized scientific lectures addressing various aspects of cold-related illnesses. These included presentations on frequently asked questions about cold-related illnesses and guidance on their management, aimed at correcting misconceptions and enhancing health awareness among participants.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy emphasized that organizing the Community Environmental Day at the Faculty of Medicine reflects the vital role of the university in serving the community and promoting health awareness. He noted that raising awareness about cold-related illnesses and their prevention is a priority during this period due to their direct impact on public health.

The University President added that Assiut University is keen to leverage its scientific and medical expertise to support national efforts in disease prevention, in cooperation with civil society organizations and health authorities, helping to reduce health complications and promote a culture of prevention. He affirmed that the university will continue to support initiatives and events aimed at enhancing public health and improving quality of life.

Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy highlighted the importance of the Community Environmental Day in shedding light on cold-related illnesses and methods of prevention. He noted that the current spread of these illnesses has created what can be described as a “social alarm,” as many citizens face health complications due to lack of awareness and knowledge. He also praised the distinguished efforts of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Medicine.

Professor Hoda Makhlouf confirmed the ongoing organization of the Community Environmental Day with the support of the university and faculty administration. She explained that the choice of this year’s topic coincides with the seasonal prevalence of cold-related illnesses, stressing the importance of health awareness and emphasizing that prevention is always better than treatment.

Professor Khaled Abdel Aziz noted the continuous cooperation between the university hospitals and the Faculty of Medicine’s Community Service and Environmental Development Sector to support health awareness efforts. He confirmed that the topic of the Community Environmental Day addresses key issues affecting community health, including the complications of cold-related illnesses and ways to prevent and manage them.

Professor Atef El-Qarn added that the event included a number of specialized lectures, such as “Viral Bronchitis and Pneumonia,” delivered by Dr. Lamiaa Shaaban, Professor of Chest Diseases at Assiut University, and “The Current Epidemiological Status of Infectious Respiratory Diseases in Assiut Governorate,” delivered by Dr. Lobna Ahmed, Deputy Director of Surveillance at the Assiut Health Directorate. These lectures provided a comprehensive scientific perspective on the nature of these diseases and methods for addressing them.

Assiut University Raises Preparedness Level to Address Expected Climate Changes and Enhances Efforts to Remove Encroachments and Care for Green Areas and Roads on Campus

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, emphasized the utmost importance of raising the level of preparedness across all sectors of the University to confront expected climate changes, in a manner that ensures the highest standards of safety and security, protects lives and facilities, and provides a safe and motivating educational and working environment for all members of the University community—reflecting Assiut University’s distinguished status and pioneering role.

In this context, and based on the directives of Professor El-Minshawy, and under the chairmanship of Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Committee for Monitoring the Removal of Encroachments, Care of Green Areas, and Street Beautification at Assiut University was tasked with inspecting rainwater drainage channels and ensuring that building rooftops are free from any obstructions that could hinder water drainage, as part of early preparedness for weather fluctuations.

The committee conducted field visits to several faculties, including the Faculties of Commerce, Law, Engineering, Dentistry, and Computers and Information, to ensure the readiness of rooftop drainage systems and to verify that faculty administrations are committed to implementing safety and security requirements, thereby reducing potential risks during periods of rainfall or severe weather conditions.

The committee also monitored encroachments within the internal perimeter of the University, followed up on the preservation and maintenance of green spaces, and enhanced the beautification of campus entrances in support of sustainable green landscaping concepts. In addition, deteriorated sidewalks were identified and prepared for rehabilitation, contributing to improving the University’s overall visual appearance and strengthening its capacity to adapt to climate change.

Professor Mohamed Mostafa Hamad, General Coordinator of the Committee, explained that the committee’s responsibilities also include preparing sidewalks for pedestrian use, planning speed bumps within the University, and installing guidance signage on main and secondary roads to ensure the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. These efforts are complemented by monitoring indicators related to agricultural pest control and inspecting old or deteriorated trees to safeguard the University community and enhance environmental sustainability across campus.

Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, announced the package of recommendations issued by the Alumni Scientific Day, held under the title “Assiut University Graduates… Yesterday’s Experiences Shape Tomorrow.” The event was organized by the International Academic Ranking Office in cooperation with the Faculty of Fine Arts, as part of the University’s commitment to developing its graduate preparation system and strengthening its position in regional and international academic rankings. The event was supervised by Professor Omar Mamdouh Shaaban, Director of the International Academic Ranking Office, and Professor Mohamed Helmy Al-Hefnawy, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Rapporteur of the Scientific Day.

Professor El-Minshawy emphasized that the University is working to prepare graduates who possess knowledge, skills, and awareness, and who are capable of competing at both regional and international levels. He noted that this is achieved through investment in human capital, support for applied scientific research, strengthening partnerships, and the optimal utilization of knowledge resources—foremost among them the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.

The President of Assiut University stated that the Scientific Day resulted in several key recommendations, most notably activating alumni follow-up units across all faculties and updating alumni databases to identify and monitor distinguished graduates. In addition, the recommendations included establishing a unified electronic alumni database documenting academic and professional achievements, thereby supporting international ranking efforts and enhancing global communication with the University’s graduates.

For his part, Professor Mohamed Helmy Al-Hefnawy explained that the sessions of the Scientific Day focused on developing a digital platform for alumni-related scientific and artistic activities at the local and international levels. The platform would include lectures, success stories, and inspirational professional experiences, preserved as a knowledge archive to support student training and skills development. The sessions also emphasized measuring the impact of the Scientific Day through surveys and evaluating the quality of participation and presented content.

The Scientific Day was held in the presence of Professor Gamal Badr, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and under the supervision of Professor Amr Abu Fadan, Deputy Director of the International Academic Ranking Office, and Dr. Yomna Mohamed Atef, Coordinator of the Scientific Day.

The event witnessed the attendance of a distinguished group of deans and vice deans, faculty members, students, and alumni of Assiut University, in addition to an elite group of outstanding graduates and prominent academic figures.
