Services Provided:
The services provided by the Veterinary Teaching Hospital can be classified into educational, research, and community service.
Educational Services: The hospital is equipped with 6 lecture halls for theoretical classes for students from the first to the fifth year. Practical courses are taught in the hospital's laboratories and clinics using animals specifically designated for this purpose, which are permanently housed in the animal accommodation wards. Additionally, students are trained on clinical cases brought to the hospital from various species and breeds.
Research Services: The hospital's departments contain a large number of specialized laboratories equipped with various scientific and research equipment and instruments necessary for conducting scientific research and the practical components of master's and doctoral thesis work in veterinary medical sciences and other disciplines, in collaboration with professors from other college departments such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Science, and Agriculture.
Community Service and Environmental Development: The hospital organizes training courses and workshops for students and veterinarians in various specialties to enhance knowledge and professional skills, fulfilling the community’s needs for veterinary services. The hospital, through its outpatient clinics and clinical departments, also receives a large number of sick animals annually from different species and breeds (pets, horses, cattle, buffalo, camels, sheep, goats, and others) and provides medical care across various specialties including internal medicine, infectious diseases, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, and avian diseases. Diagnosis is carried out through radiology and necessary laboratory tests, and treatment is administered using appropriate medical and surgical methods. Additionally, the hospital departments participate in veterinary convoys organized by the college alone or in collaboration with other community organizations to treat animals in the villages and hamlets of Assiut Governorate and surrounding areas that lack quality veterinary services. The hospital also provides guidance to farmers and farm owners and supervises veterinary medical care on some farms through specialized and distinguished professors in this field.
