Renewal of the ISO 9001 Certificate: Assiut University President Praises the Efficiency of the Administrative Body

Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, praised the distinction of the university's administrative staff and the skill, training, high performance which enabled the body to obtain the ISO 9001 and get it renewed on time due thus becoming the first Egyptian University to accomplish this achievement. On his part, Mr. Mahmoud Shaker, Assiut University General Secretary asserted the university's keenness to develop the administrative body through workshops and training programs held for all officials at the various administrative specialties. He indicated that the body which won the ISO includes 21 central administrations and 66 subsidiary administrations.

Assiut University Hosts the Association of Arab Universities Conference for Quality Assurance of Higher Education in the Arab World

Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University president, announced the resolution of the Permanent Committee for the Arab Conference on Quality Assurance, Association of Arab Universities. The resolution stated that Assiut University is selected to host the Arab Conference on Quality Assurance of Higher Education in its Seventh Congress to be held on 20 -23 February 2017. The Conference will be held under the auspices of Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education, Eng. Yasser AL-Dessouki, Governor of Assiut, Dr. Sultan Abou Orabi, Association Secretary, and Dr. Mahmoud Al-Wady, President of The Jordanian Al-Zarqaa University and General Secretary of the Conference.

Assiut University Participates in the Proceedings of the Week-Program on Human Rights in Governorates

Assiut University started the proceedings of the conference: "Assiut and Human Rights Issues: Horizons and Challenges." The conference was organized by the National Council for Human Rights in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Studies of Human Rights, Assiut University. This conference is held within the Council's attempts to register and document the complaints in Assiut Governorate and trace the reality of human rights in all Egyptian governorates. Further, the conference tends to locate the problems in each governorate and find solutions for economic problems.

Assiut University Saves the Life of a Young Physician by a Successful Kidney Transplant Operation

Prof. Tarek Al-Gammal, Vice President of Assiut University for Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of Assiut University Hospitals, stated that the Urinary Tract and Kidney Hospital manages to save the life of a young physician in his thirties by a successful kidney transplant operation. He added that this the eleventh surgery of its kind to be performed under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut Univ. President.

A Joint Scientific Project between Assiut University and Korean KoreaTech Univ. in the Field of Engineering

Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University met a delegation from Koreatech University to launch a joint scientific project and foster means of cooperation between the two parties. The event took place in the presence of Mr. Sung Shoi, Project Director, Bill Hune Koo, Technology Transfer researcher, and Mrs. Humang Hore, representative of the Ministry of Education, and Ge Win Shoi, Ministry Consultant, from the Korean side; and Prof. Usama Al-Sayed, Vive Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, Faculty of Engineering, Assiut University, from the Egyptian side. The president appreciated the suggestion of Korean Ministry of Education offering that a number of grants will be annually given for researchers at Assiut University to obtain PhD degrees. He also appraised the Korean scientific and technological progress achieved throughout the past fifty years. Prof. Gaeis suggested that a memorandum of understanding be signed to exchange students' delegation from both sides and expressed the University's willingness to host Korean students in grants to study Arabic Language.

A Cooperation Protocol between Assiut University and Al-Orman Association to Support the University Cardiology Hospital

Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, Assiut University President, stated that the opening of the new Cardiology Hospital will be closely within the coming few months. This development comes as the hospital has been partially operated. This Hospital, as Prof. Gaeis said, is expected to be one of the largest and most important specialized medical institutions nationwide. The news was launched after Prof. Gaeis met the delegation from Al-Orman Association including Eng. Mohammed Adel Zaghloul, the Association Treasurer and Eng. Aasim Imam. Prof. Tarek Al-Gammal, Vice President of Assiut University for Graduate Studies and Research and Chairman of Assiut University Hospitals and a number of the Hospitals' executives attended the meeting to sign the protocol between the University and the Association.

South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut University Holds a Workshop on the Recent Applications of International Quality Standards and Blood Diseases

Under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed A. Gaeis, President of Assiut University, the South Egypt Cancer Institute held a workshop on Blood Diseases and the recent applications of international quality standards. The two-day-workshop included a number of practical and applied lectures delivered by a number of eminent professors from various Egyptian Universities including: National Cancer Institute, Cairo Univ., Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams Univ., Military Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut Univ. and South Egypt Cancer Institute, Assiut Univ. Prof. Mustafa Al-Sharqawy, Dean of the institute indicated that the workshop is one of the scientific activities the institute regularly holds to cope with the scientific advancements and provide treatment services according to the most recent international medical systems.

Assiut University Faculty of Medicine Poses a First Time Discussion on the Intervention and Relationship between Cardiology and Oncology

Assiut University inaugurated the proceedings of the Scientific Conference organized by the Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with Egyptian Society of Cardiology entitled: "European Guidelines and Recommendations for Heart Diseases." The Conference themes included: Heart Disorders, Disorders of Heart Muscle, Lipid Profiles, and Preventive Medicine. For the first time, there were discussions on the intervention and relationship between Cardiology and Oncology. It is noteworthy that this conference is held annually at one of the Egyptian Universities for spreading modern science, treatment methods, and recent practices and drugs.
