Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Ahmed El-Menshawy, President of the University, and as part of the University's commitment to its community and awareness-raising role, the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector at the Faculty of Sports Sciences organized an awareness seminar entitled "Cyber Extortion and Methods of Protection Against It." This event was organized under the leadership of Professor Dr. Emad Samir Mahmoud, Dean of the Faculty, and supervised by Professor Dr. Yasser Hassan Hamed, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Professor Dr. Mustafa El-Sebaei, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development.
This seminar stems from the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of cybercrimes, which have become one of the most prominent challenges facing society, especially given the widespread use of social media. The event aimed to educate male and female students about methods of cyber extortion, ways to prevent it, and the proper legal procedures for dealing with such situations.
The workshop was presented by Mr. Islam Atef, a lawyer at the Complaints Office of the National Council for Women's Assiut branch, and Dr. Samar Kadwani, the head of the National Council for Women's Assiut branch. They reviewed the legal and social aspects of cyber extortion crimes and explained the support and assistance available to victims.
The workshop was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 12:00 PM in the college's discussion hall. College leaders, faculty members, staff, and students were in attendance.
The college affirms that this workshop represents an important step towards promoting a culture of digital security and building student awareness capable of using technology positively and safely, thus contributing to protecting society from cyber risks.
