The Agronomy Department is a major Department within the Faculty of Agriculture at Assiut University.Its mission is derived from the Faculty and University missions. The department adopts scientific hard working attitude to provide quality undergraduate and graduate education to prepare graduates update knolege, professional and intellectual skills who are ready for challenging career in areas of plant breeding, crop production research, and biotechnological applications. Such graduates can compete for jobs related to crop production, marketing and different crops related industries.
The department also adopts co-operation with different scientific organizations in applied researchs to solve agricultural problems.

The mission of Pomology department as a part of the Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, is to provide a high-quality education for preparing graduates with excellent skills to be ready for working in research centers, universities, or qualified to meet the requirements of the labor market, which leads to develop the productive and research sectors of Agriculture and solving the problems related to the agriculture sector and pomology production, which allowing for the development of this important sector.

The Plant Protection program contributes in achieving the mission of the college for preparation of a distinguished graduate able to compete in agricultural field and labor market, through the continued development of educational programs and basic structure of the department.
The department of plant protection puts target and innovative research programs in the fields of plant protection. The department is employing its energies research to these programs from researchers and graduate students, these programs aim to develop the productive and research sectors of Agriculture and also solving problems related to them.
The department is also meeting the urgent and emerging needs of labor market through the provision of scientific advisory services and training courses in Plant Protection (Economic Entomology and Pesticides), for submission to the bodies and individuals by cooperation with various research agencies at the regional level.
In addition to the participation of the department in the national projects in order to serve agricultural development plan in our country.
