The Mechatronics Engineering program integrates mechanical, control, electrical, electronics, and computer engineering synergistically in order to build innovative components and systems to realize functional and smart products.
Mechatronics is a combination of “mechanisms” and “electronics.” However, a degree in mechatronics incorporates so much more. This program gives you a broad range of knowledge and skills in (Manufacturing processes- Statistics-Mechatronic control systems and programmable logic controllers- The physical and chemical properties of materials used in industry- Machine design elements and kinematics-Computer-integrated manufacturing.)

Mining and metallurgical engineering graduates should be aware of the application of the new technologies in the prospection of ores as well as building materials in order to exploit the Egyptian mineral ideally. In order to achieve this goal, students must understand basic sciences besides the studied courses in mining and metallurgical fields. The department also qualifies the graduate for granting Diploma, Master and Doctoral degrees in different branches of mining and metallurgical engineering. It carries out the applied research in mining and metallurgical fields to solve the problems in order to meet the societal needs and demands of development fields, as well as keeping up with the technological and scientific advances. Moreover, The department is ready to supply the organizations as well as production institutions related to the field with experiences and consultations in order to serve and develop the upper Egyptian community
Mining and metallurgical engineering department aims to:
Graduate engineers who are able to work in mines and metals factories.
Help industry fields in the country by providing them with hard workers Engineering consultancies.
Graduate engineers who are able to work in surface surveying and mining field.
Prepare graduates for being able to compete in the labor market with a complete awareness of using modern technologies in the detection of raw and construction materials.
Qualify graduates for granting Diploma, Masters, and Doctoral degrees in different branches of mining and metallurgical engineering.
Qualify its graduates for competitions in the working market.
The faculty of Mechanical Engineering at AUN aims to offer its students the skills and knowledge related to mechanical design and production, Mechanical Power, Mechatronics, and the application of Mechanical Engineering in agriculture in accordance with the international academic standards in order to prepare its graduates for the market place. Mechanical engineering graduates from AUN are fully aware of the societal and environmental requirements, and they are conscious of the engineering professional ethics.
The Mechanical Engineering Committee has 3 main objectives which are:
To assist students to be flexible in response to the changing demands of industry and technology.
To prepare its students for solving problems, generating alternative solutions, and evaluating possible solutions.
To enhance motivation and provide opportunities for the development of personal qualities by allowing its student to choose a major between power engineering, mechatronics engineering, design and production engineering, and application of mechanical engineering in agriculture during their 4th year.
Mechanical Engineering offers 4 Majors
Power Engineering : In 1957, the Power Engineering Program started as the main specialization in this department. It is concerned with the rmo-fluid sciences, turbo-machinery, energy conversion, and utilization. The main target of the power engineering educational program is to support the graduates with related engineering applications such as power stations, Heating-Ventilating and Air-Conditioning systems (HVAC), internal combustion engines, hydraulic machines and turbo-machinery, and renewable energy systems. The graduates have adequate engineering concepts and tools to design, operate, and maintain such systems.
Mechatronics Engineering: Mechatronics engineering is an interdisciplinary program offered for senior mechanical engineering students at the faculty of engineering, AUN. In the academic year 2000/2001, the Mechatronics program started with 22 students. This specialization was a new field over the Egyptian National Universities. Mechatronics is concerned with the blending of mechanical systems, electronics, sensors, software, PLC & microprocessors and automatic control theory as well as engineering topics into a unified framework that enhances the design and process operation. Interdisciplinary faculty members from the mechanical and the electrical engineering departments teach related courses in this program. The main target of Mechatronics educational program is to create Mechatronics engineers capable of developing high intelligent and energy-saving systems through design and performance enhancements by integrating mechanical and electronic components, software and automatic control theory such as robots, CNC machine tools, intelligent sensors, intelligent actuators, automatic handling, robust controllers, intelligent end effectors.
Mechanical Design and Production Engineering Section: The mission of this section is to qualify the mechanical engineers to perform design procedures for machine components and mechanical systems, to select proper materials, and to make a decision for the manufacturing process plan. The department of Mechanical Engineering at AUN encompasses a large workshop comprising almost all machines to manufacture products in different areas of production. Quality inspection and assurance are enhanced in a number of courses in the fourth year and highly qualified computerized laboratories have been established for precision measurements. The graduates of design and production section of Assiut University are trained to cope with all challenges.
Applications of Mechanical Engineering in Agriculture: This educational program is concerned with the following applications: environmental control, agriculture process engineering, tractors, and agriculture machines. The main target of this educational program is to support the graduates with related engineering applications such as food processing, design, and maintenance of farm machinery and material handling systems.
The mission of the department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering –AUN is providing a distinguished architectural and urban planning education that is unique in both its diversity as well as its specialization. An Architecture graduate must have the power of imagination, intellect, and empathy with human needs; in addition to, the ability to interpret them in an architectural language that is both contextual and relevant. Adaptable to change and proves an asset for years to come.
The department of Architecture aims to set aside a clear vision of the complementary nature of the architectural design and to identify the strategic, cultural, social, and aesthetic needs; in addition to, the awareness of technical and legal knowledge. Moreover, it intends to deepen the knowledge of architectural expertise to facilitate the process of student understanding of the architectural vocabulary used in the architectural design, as well as strengthening drawings skills and 3-D problems solving capability.
History:
In 1959, the committee took the decision to introduce the Department of Architecture Engineering, then in 1960/1961, the study begun.
From 1959 to 1963, the Architecture Engineering Department was occupying the basement and the first floor of the Mathematic department in the faculty of science.
Later, in the academic year 1963/1964 the department moved to the 4th floor in the Mechanical engineering department.
Then, In the academic year 1984/1985 A new building for Architecture was completed; The department’s building is in an area of 6000 m2, and the building consists of three floors.
An Engineering student must first pass the preparatory year, then specialize in Architecture. The required period of study in the department is four years plus the preparatory year in order to obtain a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering.
Civil Engineering Department aims to produce civil engineers that acquire the basic and applied sciences and skills to meet the internationally needed standards.
The department mission is raising graduates’ skills through offering specialized training courses and workshops, in addition to, offering postgraduate programs (Diploma, Masters, and PhD). Moreover, the department contributes in serving the society through its faculty members' participations in the Engineering Studies and Consulting Center at the University for designing and supervising civil projects as well as giving suitable treatment for defects that may arise in different Upper Egypt facilities.
