Under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of Assiut University, the Center for Psychological Studies and Research convened a meeting to follow up on its action plan and discuss ways to maximize the benefit of the services it provides. The meeting was held under the supervision of Professor Mohamed Adawy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development and Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, and Professor Magdy Alwan, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Vice Chairman of the Center’s Board, in the presence of the Center’s members.
Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy affirmed that Assiut University places great importance on supporting mental health as one of the fundamental pillars of human development. He emphasized the University’s commitment to enhancing the performance of specialized centers and expanding the scope of their services to meet community needs, in line with the state’s strategy and Egypt Vision 2030.
For his part, Professor Mohamed Adawy explained that the meeting addressed a number of key decisions, foremost among them reviewing the Center’s operational mechanisms and objectives, and discussing ways to develop its performance in accordance with Assiut University’s strategy and vision for supporting mental health and serving the community.
He added that the meeting also discussed plans to implement awareness campaigns aimed at raising public awareness of psychological disorders, substance abuse, and addiction, correcting misconceptions associated with them, and introducing proper mechanisms for providing psychological support to patients and their families. These efforts, he noted, contribute to strengthening positive psychological well-being within society.
The meeting further addressed ways to enhance cooperation with various state institutions and to unify efforts in order to present an integrated and practical model that supports the implementation of presidential initiatives and advances the state’s orientation toward promoting sustainable positive psychological well-being for individuals and the community.
The meeting was attended by Professor Hamed Mashhour, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development; Professor Ahmed Al-Bahnasawy, Head of the Psychology Department at the Faculty of Arts; Dr. Ghaidaa Shehata, Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine; and Dr. Sara Al-Tallawy, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts.
