Research Abstract
aim:the presrent study was done to evaluate and compare streptococcus mutans and sanginus bacterial count on ceramo-metallic crowns and monolithic zirconia crowns at zero and 90 days follow up period >materials and methods .Twenty healthy patients were randomly chosen according to inclusion and exclusion criteria"s and randomly distributed into two groups (n=10) according to materials of the crown. Streptococcus mutans and sanginus bacterial count (CFU/ml) were collected at zero and 90 days interval from plaque ,salvary swab and saliva collection samples.Results:No signifacnt differences between the two groups except for S.sanginus was signifcantly higher in plaque sample of zirconia crowns after 90 days follow up .Conclusions Physical nature of bacteria may affect their adherence as streptococcus sanguinius showed higher count on zirconia crowns than ceramo-metallic crowns after 90 days of follow up

Vice President for Education and Student Affairs Inspection Visit to Faculty of Dentistry
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Mawla, Vice President of the Assiut University for Education and Student Affairs, paid an inspection visit to the Faculty of Dentistry to check the preparations of exams. He also expressed the readiness of the university to equip the computer labs at the college and supply them with computers for the electronic exam system.

“Tips and Tricks for Testing Dental Materials” Workshop
The Biomaterials Department of the Faculty of Dentistry at Assiut University held a scientific day in cooperation with its counterpart at Minya University entitled “Tips and Tricks for Testing Dental Materials” on Thursday 1st June 2023 at the defense hall. The workshop was delivered by faculty staff from both universities. The scientific day was divided into two parts: theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part included information about material testing and the ideal methods for making samples, defects in the tested samples, and a practical part in the material properties research laboratory, which included practical application to identify the different mold-making methods, problems and defects of molds and samples, in addition to practical application for programming the international measuring device. Cone-beam computed tomography-based radiographic considerations in impacted lower third molars: Think outside the box
Research Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the anatomic circle around the impacted lower third molar to show, document, and correlate essential findings that should be included in the routine radiographic assessment protocol as clinically meaningful factors in overall case evaluation and treatment planning.
Materials and Methods: Cone-beam computed tomographic images of impacted lower third molars were selected according to specific inclusion criteria. Impacted teeth were classified according to their position before assessment. The adjacent second molars were assessed for distal caries, distal bone loss, and root resorption. The fourth finding was the presence of a retromolar canal distal to the impaction. Communication with the dentist responsible for each case was done to determine whether these findings were detected or undetected by them before communication.
Results: Statistically significant correlations were found between impaction position, distal bone loss, and detected distal caries associated with the adjacent second molar. The greatest percentage of undetected findings was found in the evaluation of distal bone status, followed by missed detection of the retromolar canal.
Conclusion: The radiographic assessment protocol for impacted third molars should consider a step-by-step evaluation for second molars, and clinicians should be aware of the high prevalence of second molar affection in horizontal and mesioangular impactions. They also should search for the retromolar canal due to its associated clinical considerations.

The Council of the Faculty of Dentistry held its 15th session on Wednesday 24-5-2023 at 12:00 p.m. The attendees were Prof/ Muhammed Abd Elmageed Katamesh, dean of the Faculty, Prof/ Naglaa El-Meligy the Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof/ Muhammad Nahed Atiya, Head of the Dental Hospital and heads of the departments to discuss the agenda for faculty meetings and to devise procedures for faculty action.
