Assiut University organized, on Sunday, May 3, an educational seminar for university leaders and faculty members in the fields of hybrid warfare and security measures on scholarship tasks and international cooperation, in cooperation with the National Center for Studies, under the auspices of Professor Ahmed El-Minshawy, President of the University, and the supervision of Major General Ahmed Al-Shehabi, President of the National Center for Studies, and Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Adawi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, in the presence of Dr. Gamal Badr, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, along with several deans and vice presidents. Dr. Gamal Badr stressed the importance of adopting the strategy of internationalization of education as a national trend, pointing to the need to raise the awareness of faculty members about the security measures related to academic work outside the country, explaining that preparing academic and research cadres capable of dealing with various international environments requires a comprehensive awareness to ensure the optimal use of scholarship opportunities and international cooperation.
For his part, Professor Mohamed Ahmed Adawy explained that the symposium aims to develop the awareness of faculty members and researchers in the fields of decision-making and analysis of the internal environment, in addition to addressing several topics related to Egyptian foreign policy and hybrid wars, and the challenges they pose in various international environments, stressing the importance of preparing academic cadres capable of absorbing and dealing with the rapid international changes efficiently, in a way that supports the role of universities in serving development issues and enhancing intellectual and societal security.
In the same context, Major General Ahmed Al-Shehabi, President of the National Center for Studies, during his lecture entitled "Security Measures to Be Taken Outside the State", addressed the nature of Egyptian missions abroad in the modern era, pointing to the importance of the role of envoys, stressing that the envoy abroad represents a valuable goal, which requires awareness of potential challenges and readiness to deal with any difficulties appropriately.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Farouk, Advisor to the National Center for Studies, also reviewed the concept of hybrid wars and related concepts, such as gray zone conflicts, psychological wars, cognitive wars, and cyber wars, explaining the objectives of these wars that seek to dismantle family and societal ties, in addition to addressing their stages, features, and ways to confront them, whether at the individual level by adhering to identity without intolerance, developing critical thinking skills, and selecting role models, or at the state level through monitoring and awareness mechanisms.
Mr. Hani Al-Asr, Executive Director of the National Center for Studies, pointed out the keenness of the Egyptian state to maintain the coherence of its foreign policy and its positions towards regional and international issues, while adopting a balanced approach that employs various capabilities to serve the goals of foreign policy effectively, stressing that the starting point of Egyptian foreign policy is based on protecting the interests of the state and safeguarding its national security.
